1 Bishop Pinkham School Avenue, SW, Calgary, AB T3E 5K1 t bishoppinkham@cbe.ab.ca CBE and Provincial Goals ee Board of Trustees Policy for full, etailed s statements. rovincial Goals** Success for every student High quality education through Collaboration and Innovation Success for First Nations, Each year, our school administers provincial achievement tests to Grade 6 and Grade 9 students. All students are tested in mathematics, English language arts, science and social studies. s in French Immersion also are tested in French language arts, and write their mathematics, science, and social studies tests in French. s in Spanish Bilingual write all their tests in English; there is no Spanish language arts provincial test. The purpose of the testing program is to: determine whether students are learning what they are expected to learn; report to Albertans how well students have achieved provincial standards; and assist schools, authorities, and the province in monitoring and improving student learning. The results from the testing are but one aspect of student achievement in the CBE. In addition to academics, we consider the overall success of students, which includes the ways they demonstrate citizenship, character and personal development. student results

In our first year, our students: achieved at or above the provincial average in meeting the acceptable standard in all subjects; and achieved at or above the provincial average in meeting the standard of excellence in all subjects except Mathematics [English] and Science [French]. Grade 9 Bishop Pinkham student achievement on PATs improved in most areas over the previous year s results. Our students: achieved at a higher level in meeting the acceptable standard in all areas except Mathematics [English] and Science [English]; and achieved at a higher level in meeting the standard of excellence in all areas except Mathematics [English] and Science [English]. Accountability Pillar survey The feedback we received from teachers and students in the Accountability Pillar survey were consistent with previous results. Parent perceptions, as expressed in the survey, improved only in the areas of (i) providing a broad educational program and (ii) provisions for parental involvement in decisions. A caveat to these results is that just 19 parents from 125 eligible students participated in this survey in Page 2 2
