Historical landmarks from a bygone era Linger Longer in Cambodia Private Small Group Tour Day 1 11 June Arrive at Siem Reap A car will be awaiting your arrival at the airport. There will be a bike fitting before dinner; you are free to participate in a tuk-tuk tour around Siem Reap but other than that you will have free time to settle in until dinner. In the evening there will be a bike fitting followed by a group meal and introductions. Here you will meet your guides for the next six days. Meals (D) Day 2 12 June Sunrise at Angkor Wat (20km cycle) Rise early today and ride to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world. This dramatic view changes according to the weather on the day, by starting out in the cool morning breeze, you will enjoy the uniqueness of the experience and be inspired by what the day has in store for you. When most of the crowds are heading back to their hotels, the group will take advantage of the relative quiet to enjoy breakfast in the forest and then continue on your peddle tour. Your guide will lead you to the magnificent strangling trees with pauses for incredible photo opportunities. The conclusion of the ride will be at a small reservoir built a long time ago for the royal family. Lunch will then be served at an intimate local restaurant, after which we will head back to the hotel by car for a restful night. Day 3 13 June Siem Reap Countryside Cycle & Boat Trip (40km Cycle) On the edge of the Tonle Sap, we take a riverboat to explore the floating communities that call this area home. These isolated villages are not visited often, due to their remoteness Linger Longer in Camdia 1

2 We take a ride on tracks and trails to reach Tonle Sap Lake, the largest lake in South East Asia, connected to the Mekong River, resulting in a natural phenomenon that has to be seen (during Monsoon the river runs backwards). Like the temples of Angkor, Tonle Wat Sap is a must see for travellers, best by boat. Along the way, we ride alongside a vast reservoir used by the Khmer kings to irrigate the surrounding area, drawing native bird life to the area, for some bird watching pleasure. We return to our hotel by car in the mid-afternoon. Day 4 14 June Siem Reap Countryside Cycle & Boat Trip (40km Cycle) Today we drive for 3 hours to the French-colonial town of Battambang. After enjoying a local lunch and rest, we will embark on late afternoon cycle to the Bamboo Train, which is the quirkiest attraction of Battambang. We will then visit a village brick kiln before cycling back into town with a stopover at one of the famous afternoon snack shops in Battambang Day 5 15 June Cycle Battambang & Transfer to Kampong Chhnang (40km cycle) Today s bicycle ride is on a shaded route along the river, guided by a local university student, one of the ways Slice of Life supports local enterprise. On the way, we will learn about the local cottage industry by stopping to see rice paper making, banana drying, rice wine and Prahok (fermented fish paste) production. We will then visit renowned snack stop in all Cambodia, a shop at Kralanh. After returning to town, we will drive approximately 3 hours to the small town of Kampong Chhnang where we take a pleasant trip in a rowboat (no rowing on your part!) through the floating villages. Day 6 16 June Kampong Chhnang, Oudong & Phnom Penh (45km cycle) You will not want this day to end! Today will start out in Kampong Chhnang. The name Chhnang comes from the clay found in the area and translates from Khmer literally to Port of Pottery. Archaeological remains from the area have revealed among many other findings artefacts dating from the 6th through 11th centuries. Pottery is still made in this area to this day. We will visit pottery workshops having a chance to purchase traditional low-fired pottery wares, used throughout all of rural Cambodia, and, up until recently, delivered by ox and cart around the village. We will then drive down to the historic capital of Cambodia, Oudong. After visiting the mountaintop temple, built atop the site that was originally the ancient capital of Cambodia, we ride along quiet country trails all the way to Phnom Penh, the vibrant capital. On arrival into Phnom Penh, you will have some downtime to unpack and relax before heading out on a Night Market tour for an incredible pre-dinner taste journey. Here you will be introduced to Khmer Cuisine, from exotic fruits (including some bizarre offerings if you re game!). After the Night Markets, you ll head to a mouth-watering traditional Khmer BBQ. Tip for those wanting some tailored made clothes to take home this would be the perfect opportunity for you to visit a tailor, upon return to Phnom Penh, you will have time for a fitting and completion of items to take home. 3 Day 7 17 June Coach Transfer Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville (Ortes Beach) Today we will have some free time relaxing around the pool or at the beach, followed by a group dinner at the hotel in the evening (dinner not included in the package). Today we set out on an approximately 4-hour drive (with stops on the way) to Cambodia s premier beach town. Sihanoukville offers white sandy beaches, warm water and a laid-back vibe - think cocktails and Cabanas. This area is Cambodia s first tropical getaway, with lots of fascinating history. It s the perfect place to enjoy freshly caught seafood, sail, snorkel or scuba dive. Or just unwind, slow down, and chill out after your cycling journey. Day 8 18 June Sihanoukville free day Option Catamaran Sailing, Gulf of Thailand(Ortes Beach) After breakfast, you will have the choice to either have a free day or spend the morning sailing on the crystal waters of the Gulf of Thailand. For beginners, experienced instructors are there to teach you, and in no time you will be sailing like a professional. For experienced sailors, you will be able to simply hop on a boat and start sailing around the beautiful beaches of the Gulf of Thailand. Day 9 19 June Sihanoukville Free Day - Group Evening Dinner. Today is yours to do with as you please. You can choose to stay in tonight or else we can make our way as a group to a local restaurant for dinner. Day June Kampot free time Sunset Cruise & BBQ group dinner We depart Sihanoukville and head to Kampot. Enjoy your free time to explore the lovely surroundings of the hotel built on the edge of Kampot River. Have some fun on the river where you can partake in various water sports, or take advantage of our inclusive massage by the pool, with a long refreshing drink. At around 3:30 pm, we depart for a sunset cruise on the river, followed by an all-you-can-eat BBQ dinner at the hotel. Day June Spend A Full Day In Kep Jump on board a custom-built Tuk-Tuk (or minibus if the weather does not permit this) for an exciting and interesting day tour. Kep was historically considered to be the Asian Riviera. It was the playground for the rich and famous, frequented by royalty, movies stars and wealthy foreigners, many of whom built holiday homes. During the Khmer Rouge regime of the 70s and 80s, the wealthy fled, and Kep fell into disrepair. However, a lot of its mansions remain, and our tour of Kep will include walking around these homes, which provide ample photo opportunities. As well as the colonial remains of great homes, we will visit a pepper farm, a crab market for lunch, and Kep caves. We will then have an afternoon drink on one of Kep s beaches. 5 Day June Kampot to Phnom Penh Tour Bokor Mountain Ruins Today we head back to Phnom Penh with a Tour of Bokor Mountain on the way. The highlight is the old Bokor village. With many buildings still untouched by development, you can wander through the church, old luxury French villas and other ruins. Keep an eye out for the occasional bullet hole in the walls. Time permitting, we may walk 300m to see some beautiful waterfalls that flow for most of the year. You have a free night in exciting Phnom Penh tonight. Why not head out on to the Riverfront, known as the cosmopolitan area of Phnom Penh, for some shopping and a bite to eat. (Speak to your Slice of Life host, and she will assist you in organising a small tour or find out details for those wanting some me-time. That s what we do!) Meals (BL) Day June Phnom Penh Tour Morning Markets Food and Shopping Today is a dedicated culinary experience. First thing in the morning you will be picked up and taken to a local market for a guided tour where you will have, not one, but two breakfasts (maybe three if you eat at the hotel). After breakfast, you will visit the Russian and Central Markets with some stops on the way, including local stores around the city that are sustainably responsible. We will stop for lunch at a very special charitable initiative, a chance to give back to the local community, a training restaurant for aspiring young chefs that started out as street kids and marginalised youth. As a part of the tour, we visit some inspiring socially responsible stores around the city to see some of the significant revivals in Phnom Penh, following the Khmer Rouge years. After lunch, you can be dropped back to the hotel for some free time, or you can continue shopping, for gifts (or yourself!). Meals (BL) Day June City Tour Phnom Penh major landmarks and time a bit more shopping We, explore Phnom Penh s famous landmarks and visit the historically tragic killing fields. Take in the history of this fascinating country. You then have the afternoon free to get ready for your farewell dinner. An excellent end to what has been a great stay in Cambodia, we finish our tour tonight with a fine dining Modern French experience of a four-course meal in a restored former colonial mansion. The combination of old world charm, modern and classic French cuisines, a Chef who has worked in multi-michelin star restaurants, and fantastic local ambience will make for a memorable last night in Cambodia.
