1. General Information 1.1 Introduction The Loadrite system measures the weight of loads lifted by wheel loaders, forklift trucks and similar machines that use hydraulic rams to lift the load. The main parts of the Loadrite system are the console, installed in the cab of the loader, and connected sensors, installed on the lifting arms. As the load is lifted, the trigger and hydraulic pressure transducers send information to the console. This information is converted into a digital weight reading which appears on the Loadrite console in your cab. The Loadrite system can add each load lifted to running totals, so that trucks can be loaded right the first time and daily productivity levels can be tracked. The Loadrite console has an internal memory that stores settings and production data even when it is switched off. Below is a schematic diagram of a typical console. This is the main user interface with the system. 1

1.3 Loadrite models There are various Loadrite models available to suit different operations. All models share the same basic feature set, and some have additional advanced features. This user guide will outline the total range of features and associated operating instructions that are found across the range of console models. For information about which features each of the models have, consult the Loadrite system comparison table in Appendix C. Loadrite Pro The Loadrite Pro model has the most advanced feature set of all Loadrite weighing systems, and is the most popular model. It has extensive data capabilities, which allow you to track the productivity of your operation. Loadrite Express The Loadrite Express model is designed as an entry level product for data management. The Express offers advanced printer options and supports the Loadrite Material Management System (MMS), providing you with options to monitor and report on productivity. The Express features scrollable keys on the console that enable fast and easy product and customer data entry Loadrite Pit Boss The Loadrite Pit Boss is a productivity reporting solution specific for pit applications in quarries and mines. The Pit Boss solution includes the Loadrite Material Management System (MMS) software which allows you to measure blast efficiency, pit productivity, cycle times and more. This gives quarry and pit managers the visibility to monitor productivity in the pit. Loadrite Force The Loadrite Force is a high performace weighing system with fewer operating functions, which makes the system easy and fast to use. As with the Pro and Express models, the Force is multiple point weighing enabled, which allows you to weigh on the move, without slowing down the operator. Loadrite Sprint The Loadrite Sprint model has a very basic feature set and is ideally suited to small wheel loaders and forklifts. The Sprint can be programmed to support four separate weighing implements, which allows you to weigh with a selection of pre-calibrated implements such as buckets or forks of different sizes. The Sprint supports both the Loadrite Printer and Material Management System (MMS) accessories, providing you with options to monitor and report on productivity. 3

Loadrite QuickStart Guide Legal for Trade systems Loadrite systems meet Legal for Trade requirements in various countries. This enables material to be weighed and sold directly from the loader. For more information and to find out if this is an option in your country, please contact your local Loadrite distributor. Operating requirements for Legal for Trade systems differ slightly from normal. These differences are outlined in the appropriate places of this manual. 14 Loadrite QuickStart Guide 1.6 Accurate weighing For maximum accuracy, ensure that: The loader is level. Zero is performed regularly. The bucket is fully rolled back. Load lifting motion is steady and smooth, with no acceleration or bounce. (Weighing during lift is otherwise fine.) Lifting Speed For best results, operate the lift lever before accelerating the engine so that the machine does not rock as it lifts, i.e. use normal revs. Trigger Point It is recommended that you start the lift well below the trigger point. This ensures that all acceleration and load bounce has been eliminated well before the weighing sequence begins. Note: It is recommended that there are at least two seconds of lift before the trigger point. Bounce Most loaders have pneumatic tyres which can cause the machine to bounce when lifting. To minimise the effect of bounce, always operate the lift lever before accelerating the engine and start the lift well below the trigger point. Centre of Gravity The hydraulic pressure in the lifting cylinders depends on where the centre of gravity of the load is. It is important that the bucket is always in the same position fully rolled back. 8

2. The weighing process The basic weighing process is set out in eight main steps in the following pages. The steps are as follows: 2.1. Switch on 2.2. Warm up 2.3. Zero the empty bucket 2.4. The Ready screen 2.5. Weigh a load 2.6. Add a load 2.7. Subtract a load 2.8. Standby mode 2.9. Recall the load and change the running total Clear the short total 2.11 Clear the Long Total These steps will be outlined in this section, along with additional factors and features that can be found on some or all of the models. The graphic below lays out the basic sequence for the weighing process. Get set up 1. Switch on 2. Warm up 3. Zero the empty bucket 4. The Ready screen Weigh a load 5. Load up 6. Add a load 7. Clear the short total At the end of a weighing session Standby 8. Enter standby mode 9

Loadrite QuickStart Guide 2.1 Switch on To switch on the Loadrite console: Your Loadrite system will power up automatically when you start up your loader. If the Loadrite system has been switched off for more than one hour, the Warm Up screen will appear when powered up. 2.2 Warm up After you have switched on the Loadrite console, it is important that the hydraulic fluid is warmed up. This is done by raising and lowering the hydraulic arm of the loader. To warm up the system: Step A When the Warm Up screen is displayed, raise and lower the hydraulic arm three times. This will warm up the hydraulic fluid. The Warm Up screen will countdown 3,2,1 as you lift. Step B When the Loadrite system is ready, the console screen will display Ready and look similar to this. 10

2.3 Zero the empty bucket It is necessary to zero the equipment because small zero errors can occur due to a build-up of material in the bucket. If the Check Zero screen appears next, you need to zero the empty bucket. You will need to repeat this process whenever Check Zero comes up on your console screen. To Zero the Loadrite system: Step A Check that the loader is level and the bucket is empty. Step B Tilt the bucket fully back, then from near ground level, raise the bucket smoothly use normal revs. Step C The console will beep and turn the TRIG light on. The load weight will be displayed. Step D Now press ZERO. The screen will briefly display Zero updated and then the Ready screen will appear. (Weights shown are examples only.) 11

Loadrite QuickStart Guide The Check Zero prompt The Check Zero Prompt function automatically reminds the operator to check ZERO from time to time. The Check Zero Prompt is an optional function that is selected during installation. When the Loadrite system is first turned on (if it has been off for more than one hour) the console will remind the operator to do a ZERO check. This will occur: every 15 minutes for the first hour every 30 minutes thereafter ( minutes). Note: After the first hour, the Check Zero Prompt interval can set to anywhere between 15 and 180 minutes. The default setting is 30 minutes. A ZERO error can affect the accuracy of lifted weights, so it is important to do a ZERO check regularly. The Check Zero Prompt will not occur if the operator is checking the ZERO often enough. Note: For Legal for Trade application, ZERO must be checked. 2.4 The Ready screen When the Ready screen appears, the Loadrite system is in Total mode and ready to weigh. Total mode is the default mode of operation. The number displayed on the screen is the product total. In the example below, sand is the current product of choice and the total is 0. Apart from the Sprint and Force models, all Loadrite systems can track multiple products. A list of product names can be programmed into the console. Loadrite is ready to weigh Current product to be weighed (this will vary) Current short total loaded 12

2.5 Weigh a load When the Ready screen appears, you can begin weighing loads. To weigh a load: Step A Before you begin weighing, check that the loader is level. O P Step B Check that the bucket is empty. Note: If you are using a Legal for Trade Loadrite system, you must ensure that the Bucket-empty light is on before you begin weighing. Step C Once you have picked up your material, make sure the bucket stays fully rolled back during the weighing process. Note: With the trade Legal for Trade systems, the Bucket-back light will turn on when the bucket is detected to be fully rolled back. Step D Raise the material smoothly past the trigger point. Use normal revs. O P Step E The console will beep and turn the TRIG light on. The weight will be displayed (2200). (Weights shown are examples only.) See section 1.6 Accurate weighing 13

Loadrite QuickStart Guide 2.6 Add a load After weighing, the Loadrite will always wait for a few seconds for you to take one of the following actions: Press ADD to add the weight to the long and short totals. Press to subtract the load from the totals. Press ZERO to zero the measuring system. If you don t press a key, the Loadrite beeps and prompts you to take action. The Loadrite then counts down and if you still don t press a key, it discards the weight and goes back to the Ready screen. Typically, the current load will be added to a running total. The console then keeps a running short total of the load weights until it is cleared. To add a load: Step A Raise the material past the trigger point. The console will beep and display the load. Step B Press the ADD key (or use the Remote Add button). Current weight New weight to be added Step C The total is updated and the console returns to the ready screen. 14

NOTE: With Legal for Trade Loadrite systems, the Bucket-empty light will turn on when the material is emptied onto the truck. (Weights shown are examples only.) Note: In Target mode, the display is different. For details, see section. Additional features associated with the add function are: Remote Add button an additional add button mounted close to the loader controls. Auto-add function automatically adds the lifted weight to the total every time a load is lifted. Remote Add button The Loadrite system has an option to use a Remote Add button. If this feature is fitted, it is normally mounted near the lift lever. The remote add button can be used interchangeably with the Add button on the keypad. Lift lever Remote Add button The Auto-add function Auto-add is an optional feature that is selected during installation. If Auto-add is enabled, the Loadrite system can automatically operate the ADD function every time a load is lifted past the trigger point. 15

Loadrite QuickStart Guide To turn Auto-add on and off: The Auto-add indicator light illuminates when the Loadrite system is in Auto-add mode. A. Press to access user menu. B. Use to scroll to Auto-add. C. Press ENT to select. D. Use to adjust the setting. E. Press ENT to accept the setting. (Weights shown are examples only.) Zero when the Auto-add function is on The procedure for zeroing is different when Auto-add is on and Auto-add time is set to 0. To zero when the Auto-add feature is on: Step A Before you begin lifting, press the ZERO key. Step B Raise the empty bucket smoothly past the trigger point. The Loadrite system beeps and performs the zero adjustment. Note: If Auto-add is not on, or Auto-add time is not set to 0, follow the procedure in section 2.3 Zero the empty bucket. 16

2.7 Subtract a Load This function can be useful when only part of a final load of loose material is required. You can add the full load, then once you have tipped off just the amount needed into the object you are loading, you can re-weigh and subtract the amount remaining in the bucket. Another example is when a log has been added and then removed from a truck. To subtract (subtract part of) a load: Step A Before the load is lifted, the Ready screen will show. (Current total 5600) Step B Raise the load smoothly past the trigger point. The console beeps and displays the load. (Weight of load 2200) Step C Now press the (subtract) key. The Loadrite system updates the total and the console returns to the Ready screen. (New total 3400) (Weights shown are examples only.) Note: In Target mode, the display is different. For details, see section 3.2 Target mode. 17

Loadrite QuickStart Guide 2.8 Standby mode If you are not using the Loadrite system, you can put it in standby mode. Standby is useful when you are stockpiling, as the console will not beep and prompt you with a weight reading every time a weight is lifted. The Loadrite system will automatically go into standby if it is not used for two hours. To go into standby: Step A Make sure the Ready screen is showing. Then press the EXIT key. Note: To restart the Loadrite system, press any key. (Weights shown are examples only.) Note: The system will store production data that has been entered even when it is switched off or in standby mode. 18

2.9 Recall the load and change the running total The Recall function is equivalent to lifting the same load again and can be used to correct mistakes. You can recall and display the last load if it has been: added subtracted timed out (ignored) To recall a previously lifted weight: Step A Press key (Current total = 5600) Step B The Loadrite beeps and displays the last load. (Weight of last load = 2200 arrow) Step C Adding or subtracting: If the last action was an add, you can subtract this by pressing the key. If the last action was a subtract, you can add it on by pressing the ADD key. The example on the right shows subtracting a load that was previously added (i.e ) and the new total is (Weights shown are examples only.) Note: If you press a key that is not relevant, such as ADD when the recalled load was previously added, the Loadrite system ignores the key press. 19

Loadrite QuickStart Guide 2.10 Clear the Short Total The Loadrite system keeps a total of the load weights that you add. For each product, two independent totals are stored: the short total and the long total. Note: If the Loadrite system has a printer connected, the totals are printed before being cleared. Definitions of short and long total: Short Total Long Total Generally used to display the total weight lifted onto an object (e.g. truck or carriage). As you add successive loads, the console displays the updated Short Total (sum of the loads so far) on the Ready screen. This keeps track of the total weights lifted over a longer period, for example a shift or a day. To view the Long Total, press. Clear the Short Total for the current product The short total keeps accumulating until it is cleared. You will need to clear the short total when you have finished loading. For example, you might clear it after each truck or carriage load. To clear the short total: Step A The console will display the short total for the current product. Step B Press and hold the CLEAR key. 20

If the Loadrite system has a printer connected, the total is being printed. Step C The Total Cleared screen will come up automatically. Step D Returns to the Ready screen. The next Add operation starts a new Short total for this product. (Weights shown are examples only.) 21

Loadrite QuickStart Guide 2.11 Clear the Long Total View the Long Total At the end of a shift or longer period of time, you may want to clear the Long Total of the product/s you have been weighing. You may also want to view the Long Total periodically throughout the day. To view the Long Total for the current product on the Loadrite Pro model: Step A Make sure the Ready screen is showing. Then press to display the long total. After a few seconds, the console automatically returns to the Ready screen. (Weights shown are examples only.) To view the Long Total for the current product on the Loadrite Express, Pit Boss, Force and Sprint models: Step A Make sure the Ready screen is showing. Then press to display the menu Step B Use arrows to scroll to the Long Tot screen Step C Press ENT to select. After a few seconds, the console automatically returns to the Ready screen. (Weights shown are examples only.) 22

To clear the Long Total for the current product: Step A Make sure the Ready screen is showing. Display the Long total using the method shown above. Press CLEAR. Step B The console asks you to confirm the clear. Press ENT to confirm. If the Loadrite system has a printer connected, the total is being printed. The console displays Long Tot Cleared for a few seconds and then returns to the Ready screen. (Weights shown are examples only.) 23

Loadrite QuickStart Guide 3. Operation Modes The Loadrite system is able to add cumulatively the individual weights you have loaded The main operation modes, as shown in the following table, allow you to make different calculations as you go along. The modes that are available in a particular Loadrite system model depend on the product model and configuration during installation. MODE Total DESCRIPTION This is the normal mode of operation. As you add loads, the weights are added to the totals. The short total is displayed. Target Batch Mix Blend In this mode, a target weight is entered into the Loadrite system before loading. As you add loads, the remaining value to reach the target is displayed. Batch mode allows you to weigh and load different products according to a predefined recipe that specifies the required proportions. The grand batch target is entered before loading. The Loadrite system will work out individual product weights needed. This mode is similar to Batch mode except that the grand target is not required. You load the first product to a certain amount and then Loadrite will work out how much you need for the other products, based on relative quantities in the predefined recipe. Blend mode allows a fixed number of loads of different products, according to a predefined recipe. 24

3.1 Change mode If more than one of the above modes are enabled, you must first select the operation mode you want to enter. To select a mode: Step A: Make sure the Ready screen is showing. Then press TARG. Step B You can either stay in current mode or press to scroll to find another mode Batch, Mix or Blend. Step C Press ENT to accept. Note: If your Loadrite has only one of Target, Batch, Mix or Blend mode, there is no need to scroll simply press TARG to access the required mode. Returning to Total mode To return to Total mode from any of the other modes, press and hold For Batch, Mix and Blend modes, you will automatically return to Total mode when you clear the grand total, or when you select a product that is not in the recipe. 25

Loadrite QuickStart Guide 3.2 Target mode Target mode is typically used when loading an object to its optimum payload. This feature provides an easy way to load up to a target weight for a product in a series of lifts. In Target mode, the console displays the To Load value, which is the remaining amount to reach the target. Before loading, the operator enters a target weight. Each time you add a weight, the To Load value is reduced by that weight. Target mode is an optional feature available to most Loadrite models and is selected during installation. To enter Target mode (and input a new target): Step A Clear the previous total (see sections 2.9 Clear the Short Total and 2.10 Clear the Long Total). The Loadrite is in Total mode at this point. Step B Press TARG. The console displays the last target value used. Step C If the new target is 9000, for example, use the numeric keys to enter Then press ENT to accept. Step D The console displays Target Updated for a few seconds and then returns to the To Load screen in Target mode. (Weights shown are examples only.) 26

Note: As your To Load value approaches zero, you are getting close to finishing loading a truck. You may not reach zero exactly, but should aim to be close. If you reach a positive To Load value, you are under the target. If you reach a negative To Load value, you are over the target. Reset the target When you have finished loading an object, you need to clear the total or reset the target. To reset the target: Step A Press CLEAR. Step B The console displays Target Reset for a few seconds. Step C The display is reset to the current target. (Weights shown are examples only.) 27

Loadrite QuickStart Guide To return to Total mode The To Load message indicates that the console is in Target mode. 3.3 Batch mode Batch mode allows you to weigh and load products according to a predefined recipe. You enter the target weight of the batch and the Loadrite system will work out exactly how much of each product you need. The recipe can contain up to ten products. It specifies the relative amount of each product in a batch. When it is in Batch mode, the console displays the To Load value for each product as it is weighed. This section will take you through all of the aspects of the batch mode, including changing the recipe and operating within Batch mode. Batch mode is an optional feature of the Loadrite Pro model, and is selected during installation. Example Suppose that a recipe of three products has been entered as follows: PRODUCT PROPORTION Sand 4 Gravel 2 Pumice 1 When loading the three products, you specify the total load required; an example might be 7000kg. The Loadrite system automatically calculates the amount of each product required, which in this case would be: Sand Gravel Pumice 4000kg 2000kg 1000kg 28

As you weigh and load the products, the Loadrite system maintains the To Load amount for each product in a similar way to Target mode. You can change from one product to another at any time in order to mix the products. To enter the Batch screen: Step A Make sure the Ready screen is showing. Then press the TARG key. Scroll until Batch mode is showing on the screen and then press ENT to select it. You will see the Recipe Confirm screen. The Loadrite system automatically scrolls through the recipe details after you have entered the Recipe Confirm screen. NOTE: If entering Batch mode for the very first time, you will be prompted to enter a recipe (see the following page). At this point a number of operations are available: To change the recipe OPERATION To accept the recipe; and then enter the batch total To return to the Ready or To Load screens ACTION PRESS Press CLEAR Press ENT Press EXIT 29

Step A Press TARG and if necessary, scroll to display the Batch screen. Step B Press CLEAR followed by ENT to confirm. Step C The console briefly displays the Recipe Empty screen briefly and then displays the screen where you select the products to make up the recipe. Step D Use, or key in a product number, and press ENT to select the first product. 31

Loadrite QuickStart Guide Step E Key in the required proportion of this product and press ENT. In this example, 4 units of product 3 (sand) have been keyed in. Step F The Loadrite system automatically moves on to the next product number in sequence. If this is not the next product required, select the correct one and press ENT. Repeat the procedure of selecting a product and entering the proportion required until the recipe is complete. Then press EXIT to return to the Batch screen. 3.5 Enter the Batch total To enter the Batch total: Step A Press TARG and if necessary, scroll to display the Batch screen, then press ENT. Step B The Loadrite displays the last Batch target value. 32

Step C If necessary, key in a new Target value. Press ENT to accept. Step D The Loadrite beeps and returns to the To Load screen with the target value for the first product displayed. (Weights shown are examples only.) 3.6 Operating in Batch mode In Batch mode, a batch total needs to be entered before loading. The Loadrite system then maintains a To Load target for each product in the recipe. Each time that you add a weight, the To Load value is reduced by that weight. To use Batch mode: Step A The console displays the To Load screen with the target value for the first product. Step B Raise the load smoothly past the trigger point. The Loadrite beeps and displays the load. (E.g., Weight of load 2200) 33

Loadrite QuickStart Guide Step C Press ADD. The console briefly displays the number of buckets added for this product. Step D The console updates the total and returns to the To Load screen. (Target now 1800) (Weights shown are examples only.) Change Product You can load the products in any order and switch between products at any time, as the Loadrite system maintains the individual totals for each product. To change the product: Step A Press PROD. Step B The console displays the information about the current product. Step C Use the keys, or key in a product number, and press ENT to select the next product. (Only the products in the recipe are available.) Go through the sequence of products until you have finished loading. (Weights shown are examples only.) 34

Clear the Batch Totals To finish a Batch weighing operation, press CLEAR. The Loadrite system clears the totals for all the products in the recipe and automatically returns to the Ready screen in Total mode. You can also return to Total mode by pressing. 3.7 Mix mode Mix mode is similar to Batch mode except that a target value for the mix is not required. The recipe that you enter in Mix mode can contain up to ten products. It specifies the relative amount of each product in a batch. You load the first product to a certain amount and when you change to the next product, the Loadrite system will work out exactly how much you will need to load based on the relative amounts in the recipe. When the system is in Mix mode and the primary product* is being loaded, the console displays the word Mix to indicate this. When you change to other products in the recipe, the console displays the To Load value for that particular product. Mix mode is an optional feature of the Pro model and is selected during installation. Example Suppose that a recipe of three products has been entered as follows: PRODUCT Sand * First item in the recipe is the primary product. PROPORTION 4 Gravel 2 Pumice 1 Suppose that you have loaded 4000 kg of the primary product, sand. The Loadrite system automatically calculates the amount of other product required, which in this case would be: Sand Gravel Pumice 4000kg 2000kg 1000kg 35

Loadrite QuickStart Guide As you weigh and load the products, the Loadrite system maintains the To Load amount for each product in a similar way to Target mode. You can change from one product to another at any time during weighing in order to mix the products. To enter the Mix screen: Step A Make sure the the Ready screen is showing. Then press TARG and, if necessary, scroll to Mix mode and press ENT to select it. At this point the following operations are available: OPERATION To change the recipe To accept the recipe To return to the Ready or To Load screen ACTION Press CLEAR Press ENT Press EXIT Viewing and changing the recipe is explained in section 3.3 Batch mode. 3.8 Operating in Mix mode In Mix mode, the Loadrite system maintains a To Load target for each product (except the primary product) in the recipe. Each time that you add a weight, the To Load value is reduced by that weight. To use Mix mode: Step A Once you have entered Mix mode, press ENT to accept the recipe, or press CLEAR to enter a new recipe. 36

Step B The console will display the primary product and the current total. Step C Once the primary product has been loaded, you can start loading another product in the mix (see the following page). Change product You can change product at any time (the Loadrite system maintains the individual totals for each product). To change products: Step A Press PROD. Step B The console displays the information about the current product. Step C Use to select the next product. Press ENT to accept. Only the products that are in the recipe are available. 37

Loadrite QuickStart Guide Step D Load this product and continue on to the next. (Weights shown are examples only.) Clear the Mix Totals To finish a Mix mode weighing operation, press CLEAR. The Loadrite system clears the totals for all the products in the recipe and automatically returns to the Ready screen in Total mode. You can also return to Total mode by pressing. 3.9 Blend mode Blend mode is similar to Batch mode except that the recipe contains the total number of loads of each product and you do not enter a target load. The recipe can contain up to ten products. When weighing, the Loadrite tracks the number of lifts of each product and automatically changes to the next product when the required number of lifts has been achieved. Blend mode is an optional feature of Pro model and is selected during installation. Example Suppose that a recipe of three products has been entered as follows: PRODUCT LOADS Sand 6 Gravel 10 Pumice 10 During weighing, the Loadrite system guides the operator through the process that will result in a total of 26 loads. 38

To enter the Blend screen: Step A Make sure the Ready screen is showing. Press TARG and, if necessary, use to scroll to Blend mode. Press ENT to select it. Note: If Target, Batch or Mix modes are also available, you may need to scroll to Blend mode. At this point the following operations are available: OPERATION To change the recipe To accept the recipe To return to the Ready or To Load screen ACTION Press CLEAR Press ENT Press EXIT Viewing and changing the recipe are explained in section 3.3 Batch mode. Remember that the Blend recipe contains the actual number of loads of each product rather than a proportion of the whole load Operating in Blend mode In Blend mode, the Loadrite will use bucket counts to guide the operator through the blend process. To use Blend mode: Step A Once you are in the Blend screen, press ENT to accept the recipe or press CLEAR to enter a new recipe. 39

Loadrite QuickStart Guide Step B The console displays the first product and how many buckets need to be added. Step C Raise the load smoothly past the trigger point. The console beeps and displays the load. (Weight of load 2200.) Step D Press ADD. The console briefly displays the number of buckets loaded for this product. Step E The console then updates the Short Total and returns to the Blend screen. The To-load bucket count reduces to 5. Step F After the last bucket of the first product has been loaded, the console automatically displays the second product name for you to start loading that product. After the last bucket of the last product in the sequence is added, the Loadrite system starts from the beginning of the sequence again. (Weights shown are examples only.) 40

3.11 Split mode Split mode splits the total load weight into multiple sub-totals, providing an easy way to load train carriages, or a truck and its trailer. You can also use this mode to track load distribution over a single vehicle unit, to avoid overloading an axial. Split mode is only available on some models and is selected during installation. Example Suppose we are to load a truck with a trailer. The truck can carry and the trailer , the total therefore being The examples below show the operation of Split mode as it would appear in Total mode and Target mode. EXAMPLE TOTAL MODE TARGET MODE Before weighing Current weight = 0 Weight needed = For Target mode need to add target weight of (see section 3.2 Target mode). Step A Add total weight of 5000 to the truck. 41

Loadrite QuickStart Guide EXAMPLE TOTAL MODE TARGET MODE Step B Add another 5000 to the truck. The truck is now full, with a weight of Step C Go into Split Mode: Press. Summary so far At present we have: Truck Total = Trailer Total = 0 Grand Total = The trailer must be loaded next. For Target mode need to add target weight of (see section 3.2 Target mode). Step D Add weight of to the trailer. This gives us: Truck Total = Trailer Total = Grand Total =

Step E Add another weight to the trailer. This gives us: Truck Total = Trailer Total = Grand Total = Step F Add another weight. This gives us: Truck Total = Trailer Total = Grand Total = Step G Press CLEAR to finish loading. We now have: Truck Total = Trailer Total = Grand Total = (Weights shown are examples only.) Sample Printout: 43

Loadrite QuickStart Guide 4. Advanced weighing functions 4.1 Tip-off Tip-off weighing is the adjustment of the final load. You are able to tip a measured amount of the product out of the last bucket to ensure an exact target weight is reached, where the final load would otherwise exceed the truck s capacity. There are two different methods, depending on the way the Loadrite system has been set up: Truck tip-off Stock pile tip-off. Tip-off is only available on some models and is selected during installation. 4.2 Truck Tip-off Using this method, you tip a measured amount of product from the bucket into the truck and dump the rest. The following example illustrates the weigh screen shots in both Total mode and Target mode. To use the Truck Tip-off function: EXAMPLE TOTAL MODE TARGET MODE Target weight = 6000kg Current weight = 5600kg Weight needed = 400kg Step A Lift the load in the normal way. The console displays the lifted weight (2200kg). 44

Step B Lift the bucket to a suitable height over the truck. Press The Tip-off indicator light comes on. Console display: Middle number shows total weight as it is being tipped onto the truck. Lower number shows weight tipped off onto the truck. Middle number shows the weight still to be tipped onto the truck. Lower number shows weight tipped off onto the truck. Step C Roll the bucket partially forward, tipping product into the truck. The screen on the right shows that 300kg has been tipped off so far. The console displays the total in the truck and the amount that has been tipped from the bucket (i.e.400 kg). 45

Loadrite QuickStart Guide The console displays the weight still to be tipped onto the truck and the amount that has been tipped from the bucket. Step D When the required truck load weight is reached, press ADD. Step E Finally, move away from the truck and dump any product remaining in the bucket. (Weights shown are examples only.) Notes on Tip-off function When tipping product from the bucket, do not raise or lower the lifting arms as this would adversely affect the live weight reading. Tip-off cannot be used if Auto-add time is set to 0 sec (see section 7.5 Autoadd On/Off Setting (Auto-add)). 4.3 Stock Pile Tip-off Using this method, you dump product from the bucket until it contains the right amount for loading onto the truck. The following example illustrates the weigh screen shots when in Total Mode and Target Mode. To use the Stock Pile Tip-off function: EXAMPLE TOTAL MODE TARGET MODE Target weight = 6000kg Current weight = 5600kg Weight needed = 400kg 46

Step A Lift the load in the normal way. The console displays the lifted weight (2200kg). Step B Lift the bucket to a suitable height over the truck. Press The Tip-off indicator light comes on. Console display: Middle number shows total weight. Lower number shows live weight in the bucket. Middle number shows target weight. Lower number shows live weight in the bucket Step C Roll the bucket partially forward, dumping the product. The screen examples show a 300kg weight has been tipped off so far. 47

Loadrite QuickStart Guide Step D Keep tipping the product off until the desired target has been reached. The console displays the remaining weight in the bucket. Step E When the required weight is displayed, press ADD. Step F Tip the product from the bucket into the truck. 4.4 Tare The Loadrite has two ways of using Tare and this is selected at the time of installation. The Tare can work either with the lifted weight, or the total weight. This is explained in more detail below. The Tare function is only available on some models and is selected during installation. 4.5 Tare on Lifted weight In this mode, the Tare function can be used, for example, to allow for the weight of a pallet. When weighing, the Loadrite automatically deducts the tare from the lifted weight and displays the net weight of the load. 4.6 Tare on Total weight In this mode, the entered Tare value is applied to the displayed Total value. The Loadrite system automatically adds the total for the currently selected product to the Tare value and the console displays this value. This mode is useful when loading vehicles that display their Tare weight and maximum weight. The operator enters the Tare value into the console, then loads the vehicle until the displayed total is equal to the vehicle s maximum loaded weight. 48

4.7 Enter a Tare weight using the keypad You can enter a tare using the keypad or by measuring the weight. (When Tare is set to work on the Total, the Tare value is normally entered with the keypad.) See the example on the following page. To enter a tare weight: Step A Make sure the Ready screen is showing. Then press. Tare? will appear on the screen, prompting you to enter the tare weight. Step B Key in the tare weight and press ENT to accept. 49

Loadrite QuickStart Guide 4.8 Measure a Tare weight A Tare weight can be measured by the Loadrite system. This is common when finding the Tare weight of a pallet on the forks of a loader. (It is not normal to measure the Tare weight when the Tare value is set to work on the Total). To measure a Tare weight: Step A Lift the empty pallet past the trigger point. The console beeps and displays the weight. Step B Press. The console displays the measured weight on the Tare screen. If necessary, edit the weight using the keypad. Press ENT to accept. Note: To turn on the tare function, enter a tare weight. To turn it off, enter a tare of zero. Note: Your Loadrite distributor will set up how Tare is to operate with your machine. 50
