3 MOTHERLY LOVE Life was not always simple for Ryan Mathews. His mother, Tricia, became pregnant with him at 15 and dropped out of school as a result. They lived with her aunt for several months before a conflict pushed the two to a new home - a 1969 Oldsmobile. They lived in the car for several months before finding stable footing at her grandmother s home. Due to his unconventional childhood, Tricia stayed on Ryan to maintain his grades and to behave properly in order to avoid falling down a similar path.
