1 What s New with NGPS SA MRO5? Overview The new release of NGPS, referred to as MRO5, includes changes to the screen layout, additional features, and improvements to the overall functionality of the viewer. Opening Manuals & Navigating to Content ATA Lookup Opening Documents in a New Window Viewing & Printing Images Opening an Image in a New Window Document Information Opening Manuals and Navigating to Content To open a manual in MRO5: 1. Select a Fleet. 2. Scroll over the list to highlight and select the manual. 3. Click on the manual tab. The new screen will display with the selected manual highlighted and cover page on the right.
2 NOTES The last manual selected will always be highlighted and displayed in the viewer. There is no limit as to how many manuals may be opened at one time. To delete a manual, click the small x next to the manual s abbreviation. The full title of the manual displays in a pop-up window when placing the cursor over the manual abbreviation (e.g., IPCFX1 will display ILLUSTRATED PARTS CATALOG). ATA Lookup The new ATA feature allows you to navigate to a specific ATA selection without using the TOC to drill down. Opening Documents in a New Window A document (pageblock/figure/diagram) can now be opened in a new window while still viewing other content in the main viewer. Multiple documents from different manuals and fleets may be opened simultaneously. NOTE: Using the CNTL + N function will not open a new browser session. To open a document in a new window, click on the Open Document in a new window icon, located directly above the image (middle) pane.
3 The new window contains all images associated with the document opened in the new window. Select printing options from Print Preview menu. Printing functions are the same as when printing from the viewer. Viewing & Printing Images When a manual is opened to a specific pageblock or figure, the viewer now opens with the image(s) displayed in the middle pane. NOTE: The image pane will not appear in pageblocks or figures that do not contain images.
4 Opening an Image in a New Window To open an image in a new window, click on the Open current Image in a new window icon, located directly above the image (middle) pane. Document Information For additional revision information about the open pageblock/figure/diagram, click the small plus + symbol at the far right (above the pageblock). The ATA Number, Effectivity, and last Revision Date for the specific document will be displayed.

6 Navigating to Manual Content Opening Manuals To open a manual in MRO5: 1. Select a Fleet. 2. Scroll over the list to highlight and select the manual. 3. Click on the manual tab. The new screen will display with the selected manual highlighted and cover page on the right. NOTES The last manual selected will always be highlighted and displayed in the viewer. 7 ATA Lookup The new ATA feature allows you to navigate to a specific ATA selection without using the TOC to drill down. 1. Click on the ATA tab directly above the manual s TOC. 2. Click inside each drop-down to make your selections. (You also have the option to manually type in your selections.) 3. Click on the double-arrow button to display the resultant TOC, graphic, and figure/pageblock. NOTE: At this time, the drop-down box selections for all Wiring Manuals and for the Boeing SWPM are limited, as shown below.
8 Document Information For additional revision information about the open pageblock/figure/diagram, click the small plus + symbol at the far right (above the pageblock). The ATA Number, Effectivity, and last Revision Date for the specific document will be displayed.
9 Printing Options Printing is done using either the Print Preview menu in the viewer, or by using the Image Print function when documents or images are opened in a new window. Printing from the Viewer Manual content and images may be printed directly from the viewer using the Print Preview functions. 1. Select the Fleet and Manual. 2. Using the TOC or ATA Lookup, open the manual to the desired content. The viewer opens with the image displayed in the image pane and content displayed in the right pane. NOTE: The image pane does not appear in pageblocks/figures that do not contain images.
10 Printing AMM Content 1. Open the AMM to the desired pageblock. 2. Click on the Print Preview drop-down arrow to display the print options. 3. Left-click on the desired option. NOTE: With the exception of Print Image, the Print Preview options generate a PDF for printing/saving. Text Only - All text for the selected pageblock; images are excluded. Illustration(s) - All images for the selected pageblock. Current page - Displayed text only. Selected text - Selected text only. Left-click and drag to select the desired text. The selected text will be highlighted. All - All text and images for the selected pageblock. Print Image - Prints the selected image as it is displayed in the window. This option is very useful for printing enlarged views (what you see is what you print), however, the enlarged image cannot be saved.
11 Printing IPC Content 1. Open the IPC to the desired pageblock. 2. Click on the Print Preview drop-down arrow to display the print options. 3. Left-click on the desired option. NOTE: With the exception of Print Image, the Print Preview options generate a PDF for printing/saving. Part List - Only the part list for the selected figure; images are excluded. Illustration(s) - All images for the selected figure. All - All text and images for the selected pageblock. Print Image - Prints the selected image as it is displayed in the window. This option is very useful for printing enlarged views (what you see is what you print), however, the enlarged image cannot be saved.
12 Printing WDM/SSM Content 1. Open the Wiring or Schematic Manual to the desired subject. 2. Click on the Print Preview drop-down arrow to display the print options. 3. Left-click on the desired option. All - Generates a PDF for printing/saving all pages/sheets. NOTE: 11 x 17 Landscape properties are maintained for printing by clicking the Choose paper source by PDF page size checkbox from the PDF Print window (shown below). Print Image - Prints the selected image/graphic as it is displayed in the window. This option is very useful for printing enlarged views (what you see is what you print); however, the enlarged image cannot be saved and requires manually setting printer preferences if the 11 x 17 Landscape is format is required.
13 Printing Directly from Image or Document Windows Manual content and images/graphics may also be printed directly from the image or document windows. NOTE: The Print functions are the same as when printing from the viewer. Refer to Printing from Viewer at the beginning of this job aid for specific Print Preview options for the different manual types. Printing an Image from a New Window 1. Select the Fleet and Manual. 2. Using the TOC or ATA Lookup, open the manual to the desired content (pageblock/figure/diagrams). 3. Click on the Open current Image in a new window icon. 4. With the image opened in the new window, click the Print icon in the top-left corner.
14 5. Select the printer from Print pop-up window. 6. Set the desired preferences and then select Print. Printing Documents from a New Window 1. Select the Fleet and Manual. 2. Using the TOC or ATA Lookup, open the manual to the desired content (pageblock/figure/diagrams). 3. Click on the Open current Document in a new window icon. 4. With the document opened in the new window, select printing options from Print Preview drop-down menu.
15 A fourth choice (Print Image) has been added to the drop-down arrow next to the button. The previous three choices of Part List, Illustration(s), and All remain. New information has been added to the bottom of any figure selected for printing. This does not appear on the screen, but will on the printout.
16 Working with Images Images are now displayed in the viewer s middle (image) pane for any manual type, including IPC and Wiring Manuals. The exception to this is for those manuals in PDF format. Viewing Images 1. Select the Fleet and Manual. 2. Using the TOC or ATA Lookup feature, open the manual to the desired content. The viewer opens with the image displayed in the image pane. NOTE: The image pane does not appear in pageblocks/figures that do not contain images.
17 Resizing the Image Pane 1. Place the cursor over the divider bar until the double arrow appears. 2. Hold down the left mouse button and drag left or right. All images within the selected document may be viewed by selecting a specific image from the drop-down menu, or by scrolling through the available images using the arrow keys.
18 Show/Hide Document Image The current image can be hidden from view by clicking on the Show/Hide Document Image icon located directly above the image pane. Click the icon to toggle between showing and hiding the image. Opening the Image in a New Window 1. The current image can be opened in a new window by clicking on the icon shown above (Open current Image in new window callout), directly above the image pane. A new window will open with all images available.
19 2. Use the drop-down menu or arrow keys to navigate between images. NOTE: Multiple image windows may be opened simultaneously.
20 Using the Image (IsoView) Toolbar Images may be resized, moved, rotated, and exported using the IsoView toolbar. NOTE: The IsoView toolbar functions the same for images in the main viewer pane, as well as for images opened in a separate window. Pan Panning allows you to move the move the image/graphic within the image pane up/down/left/right. 1. Click on the Pan icon. The cursor will change to the hand symbol when placed inside the image pane. 2. Left-click and hold down to drag/move the image/graphic left, right, up, or down. Zoom In/Out Zoom in/out enlarges or reduce the size of the image/graphic currently displayed in the image pane. 1. Select the + magnifying glass icon. (The cursor changes to a magnifying glass when placed inside the image pane.) 2. Place the cursor over the desired segment of the image/graphic and left click to enlarge it. Continue to left-click until the desired zoom level is reached. NOTE: The same two-step procedure is used to zoom out (reduce) the image/graphic displayed in the image pane using the magnifying glass icon.
21 Toggle Magnifier The Toggle Magnifier tool allows you to super zoom in on a portion of the image/graphic. 1. Click on the Toggle Magnifier icon. The cursor will change to the magnifying glass with the plus symbol when placed inside the image pane. 2. Place the cursor over the desired segment of the image/graphic and left click to enlarge it. A Magnifier window similar to the one shown below will display as you scroll over the image/graphic. 3. Close the Toggle Magnifier tool by clicking on the icon. The Magnifier window will disappear.
22 Toggle Global View The Toggle Global View tool is used for determining what section of the enlarged image/graphic you are viewing. 1. Click on the Toggle Global View icon. The section of the image/graphic displayed in the image pane will be enclosed by a red box in the Global View window. 2. Click the Toggle Global View icon or the in the Global View window to delete the window. Rotate Image 1. Return the image/graphic to its original size by clicking on the Home icon. 2. Place the cursor (hand symbol) inside the image pane and right-click. The Rotate Image menu (shown below) will display over the image/graphic.
23 3. Highlight the desired option and left click. The image pane will refresh and display the image/graphic based on the option chosen. 4. Right click to redisplay the Rotate Image menu to select another option or reset the image/graphic to its default (original display).
24 Managing Bookmarks Creating bookmarks will save time when working in any of the fleet manuals on a regular basis. 1. From the viewer screen displayed, click on the Bookmark icon. The Save Document Bookmark pop-up window will display.
25 2. Type any relevant information in the Comment field and click the button. The Save Document Bookmark pop-up window will disappear. 3. To be sure the bookmark has been added to your Bookmark List, click on. The Bookmark List window (shown below) will display with the most recently added bookmark at the top of the list. 4. To access the bookmark (or any previous bookmarks), click on it. The bookmark will highlight in orange.
26 Bookmark List Window Buttons NOTE: The buttons shown on the bottom of the Bookmark List window will highlight in orange when placing the cursor over each. Click/highlight to display the highlighted bookmark. Click/highlight to clear the Bookmark List window. Click/highlight to change information in the Comment field. A Save Document Bookmark pop-up window will display with an empty Comment field.
27 1. Type in your change. 2. Click/highlight Save to save the change or Cancel to keep the previous comment. Click/highlight to delete the orange-highlighted bookmark. The Delete Bookmark pop-up window (shown below) will display. - Click if you re sure about deleting the bookmark. The Bookmark List screen will redisplay with the remaining bookmarks. - Click to keep the bookmark. The Bookmark List screen will redisplay.
28 Duplicate Bookmarks To avoid duplicating bookmarks, the Save Document Bookmark pop-up window (shown below) will display when a bookmark has previously been created. Click or to return to the viewer screen.
29 Engineering Documents NOTE: This feature has been temporarily disabled in the version of NGPS Standalone Application Version MRO The Engineering Docs tab in the main toolbar will list all Engineering documents (EA/EO/PAF) currently attached to the viewer. NOTES: Engineering documents published to the viewer as attachments have been approved by FedEx Engineering and are authorized for use. Information contained within Engineering documents supersedes manual content. Clicking on Engineering Docs without having a specific manual opened will display all Engineering documents currently published to the viewer for all fleets. It is recommended that a specific fleet be selected to reduce the amount of documents that display. 1. Scroll over/highlight. The Engineering Documents page will display all current documents. 2. Select Go to Document or View Attachment.
30 View Attachment only displays the associated EA in a pop-up window.
31 Go to Document displays the associated pageblock or figure on the viewer screen. The flashing number shown in the orange icon (View Engineering Documents callout) indicates the number of Engineering documents attached to that particular figure or pageblock. 3. Click on the flashing icon. The screen will refresh and display the Engineering document window at the bottom of the figure.
32 Clicking on the View Attachement link launches the engineering document in a new window for review. NOTE: The Add Engineering Document function is reserved for Engineering personnel only.
