1 PREFACE The rise in critique of unsuccessful in student character building to universities and lecturers has become one of the current issues in the education of postmodernism era. The weakness of the character of the universities alumnus as scientists and practitioners, and the weakness of the supporting characters such as, soft skills, hard skills, entrepreneurship, national character, etc. have become important indicators that need positive response of the universities. On the other hand, some universities have been developing and innovating with the character education. Some of the universities have developed good practices of characters that have been systematized in the good governance system of the universities. They do so, because they have good acceleration in the public image building and accountability of their good governance of the higher education. Moreover, lecturers who just finished their doctorate (Post graduate) program have been icons and motivators for enlightenment at their workplace. Therefore, they must have good facilities to enable them to reconstruct and share their ideas of character education to other people. As a result, in relation to criticize, improve, and to share good practices of character education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Muhammdiyah University of Malang will hold an International Seminar and the 3 rd Colloquium for new Doctorate graduation. The International Seminar and the 3 rd Colloquium for new Doctorate graduation of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, with the theme: Re-actualization of the character education in embodying the civil society, aims: 1) to improve knowledge and good practices of character education, 2) to facilitate the sharing of the good practices of character education from many other universities, 3) to facilitate the sharing of the research and development of the character education from various higher education institutions, 4) to develop a networking of character education implementation. i
