2 COSMEBIO: Who are we? French not-for-profit professional association for ecological and organic cosmetics, number one in Europe. Founded in 2002 by ten laboratories pioneers in natural and organic cosmetics Federates all key players of the field: Raw materials and ingredients suppliers Cosmetic laboratories Contract manufacturers Retailers Represents more than 300 French and foreign members, all commited to ecological and organic cosmetics. Founding member of the european harmonization group for natural and organic cosmetics, COSMOS-standard.

6 A private initiative to support and develop an expertise COSMEBIO: At the root of the Charter "Ecological and Organic Cosmetics" which defines the basic principles and rules for manufacturers who wish to engage in this process. COSMEBIO: Owner of the label that offers consumer guarantees as to the nature and quality of labellised products.

8 The basic principles of the Charter Product Processes Manufacturers Products containing natural ingredients or of natural origin,, of which a minimum is from Organic Agriculture Authorized and clean manufacturing and processing Companies involved in sustainable development goals A consumer clearly informed Consumer Transparency and guarantees through the control of the products by an independant certification body

9 A commitment identifiable by the consumers Label on cosmetic products respecting COSMEBIO charter Brand registered in France and worldwide by COSMEBIO

10 Full transparency and guarantee obligations Control of products by an independant certification body. Two certification bodies approved by COSMEBIO: Ecocert Qualité France (Bureau Veritas certification) These two certification bodies own a Standard in conformity with the Charter and officially published. The non-compliance with the Standard may result in government intervention «repression of fraud».

11 Conditions for use of logos Be a member of COSMEBIO: Commit to the COSMEBIO Charter Prove commitment with a certification body (Ecocert ou Qualité France) Have products certified according to the Standard of the certification body Fill out the COSMEBIO application form and pay the annual fee The use of logos on communication media can be done only if at least 60% of the products from the range, brand or company are certified.

12 Guaranteed minimum percentage in a product labellised COSMEBIO > 95% of ingredients are natural or of natural origin > 95% of plant ingredients are from organic farming >10% of the ingredients on total finished product must be organic NB: water and minerals are not certifiable!

13 The Charter is based on a dynamic quality A Standard is a «living» document A Standard is a document that may be updated and improved continuously according to: the evolution of technological capabilities the general regulations Within this framework, the national Standards will evolve

Promoting the use of products form organic agriculture, and respecting biodiversity Using natural resources responsibly, and respecting the environment Using processing and manufacturing that are clean and respectful of human health and environment Integrating and developing the concept of Green Chemistry More transparency for consumers
