HOW TO RUN A FOOD DRIVE Thank you for your interest in helping Lunch Break by organizing a Food Drive. We are always in need of replenishing our food pantry shelves and every food drive is important to us in helping feed community members in need. We will provide all the support you need. You can call or us at pantry@lunchbreak.org and we will answer your questions. What to do Organize help Select the date(s) and location for the food drive. Plan the food pickup. Register your food drive Promote the food drive Plan for delivering your donation to Lunch Break Organize help Get your family, friends and neighbors involved. Mobilize members of your church or synagogue, school or sport clubs. A food drive is much more effective and more fun, if you are not on your own. Select the date(s) and location for the food drive. Plan the food pickup A food drive can be one specific day or several designated dates. Designate a pre-approved location where the food will be collected. You must contact grocery stores well in advance for permission to hold a food drive at their location. Also plan how you pick up the collected food. We can provide you with crates for easy transport of the collected items. Register your food drive If you are under the age of 18, parental permission is required to run a Food Drive. Print the Lunch Break Food Drive Registration Form, let your parent or guardian sign it and send it to Ms. Peg Rizzo, our Pantry Coordinator. If you are 18 years or older, you can register on. By request, you will receive a written acknowledgement for community service hours upon completion of your food drive.
PROMOTE YOUR FOOD DRIVE Promote your food drive in as many ways as possible. Send s to friends and family, post it on your social media. Use the website of your church, business or organization. Get the food drive published on event websites as the local patch pages, like redbank.patch.com. Plan for delivering your donation to Lunch Break We encourage you to bring your bagged or crated, non-perishable food items directly to the back door at Lunch Break. We are located at 121 Drs. James Parker Boulevard at the corner of Bridge Avenue in Red Bank. We are open: Monday through Friday: 9:00am - 2:30pm. Saturdays: 9:00am - 12:00pm. Sundays: Closed Announcements and Thank you cards You can use our examples for an announcement of the food drive and for thank you cards for the donors.
LUNCH BREAK FOOD DRIVE REGISTRATION FORM Thank you for your interest in organizing a Food Drive to benefit Lunch Break. If you are younger than 18, please fill out this form and send it to us by (e)mail or fax before you have your food drive. This information will be held for our records. If you are 18 years or older, you can register online on. Contact Information Organization: First Name: Last Name: Street #: Street name: City: State: Zipcode: address: (please print) Phone #: Private: Business: Parent or guardian signature if under 18 years: Food Drive Information Today's Date: Food Drive: Start: End: Requests: Lunch Break tour: YES / NO Speaker: YES / NO Date you will deliver your donations: Thank you for including transportation as part of your donation!
WISH LIST FOR OUR FOOD PANTRY One of our most pressing and ongoing challenges at Lunch Break is keeping our pantry shelves stocked with food. From our pantry we distribute emergency food provisions to almost 450 families each month, and that number is growing. Please note that we cannot accept expired food. We need the following non-perishable items to feed our community members in need. Canned fruits, soups, tuna fish and vegetables Cereals Coffee, tea and sips Goya beans and baked beans Macaroni and cheese Mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and vegetable cooking oil Napkins, toilet paper, paper towels and food storage bags Peanut butter and jelly Salt, pepper, garlic powder, lemon pepper, basil, oregano, etc. Small individual portions of apple sauce, pudding, snacks and juices Sugar, flour, cake mix and icing Toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant and soap
BECOME A PARTNER IN LUNCH BREAK S FOOD DRIVE PROGRAM Lunch Break needs a steady stream of food drives for our food pantry. Only then will we be able to provide emergency food provisions to over 450 families in need, each month. That is up 800% from 2008 and the number is still growing! The need for food is even more urgent because the federal government wants to cut funds for the Food Banks. This directly effects Lunch Break. The amount and variety of food we receive for free or can purchase for a reduced price, will be reduced dramatically. You can help and fight hunger in our community by becoming a partner in our food drive program. How to become a partner You can become a partner in our Food Drive Program by signing up for two or more pre-scheduled food drives a year. Please contact the Chair of the Food Drive Committee, Mrs. Susan Haugenes ( or shaugenes@lunchbreak.org) to schedule the food drives.
