1 Jackfish Lake Campground Jackfish Lake Campground and day use area is located 20 minutes North East of the town of Athabasca. This campground offers a great getaway without the long drive. The lake provides opportunities for swimming, fishing, canoeing and recreational boating. No Reservations. Boat launch Playground Pier Firewood Designated & marked swimming area 35 Un serviced campsites Drinking water (hand pumps) Group area with cookhouse and wood stove Overnight (per night) $20 Take highway 55 east of Athabasca 2 km from the A & W, turn north onto Airport Road and follow the signs for another 9 km. To reach our campsite from the east on Highway 55 turn north on Range Road 214 then west on Township Road 27, North on Range Road 213 and follow the signs. 2 Forfar Recreation Park Campground Since the early 1900 s, according to local residents this area of the County has been known as Forfar, and boasted a school, hall and the park. The hall and park both proudly remain. The Park is located on the shores of Long Lake, and offers 2 beaches, swimming, fishing, canoeing, recreational boating and hiking. Reservations may be made 30 days prior to the first night of stay. Please call the campground directly at , May 1 to September 30 or call during the off season. Boat launch Playground Pier Hiking trails Firewood Designated & marked swimming area 72 Un serviced campsites Drinking water (hand pumps) Group area with camp shelter with wood burning cook stove Overnight (per night) $20 From Athabasca, follow Hwy 2, 18 km south of Athabasca then 23 km west on Hwy 663. If you are traveling from Edmonton take Highway 2 North to Highway 663 then west for 23 km. 3 Hope Lake Campground Escape to Hope Lake Campground located just 17 km Northeast of Boyle. This campground is a great getaway for anyone looking for a quiet family oriented vacation. The campground offers a great beach, swimming, hiking trails, fishing, canoeing and there is a boating restriction on the lake of 12 km/hr. Hope Lake also has excellent ATV trials close by, though we do not allow ATVs in the campground we do have a locked ATV compound located just outside of the campground. Reservations may be made 30 days prior to the first night of stay. 4 Baptiste Lake Campground Baptiste Lake is located on the west side of the County and is a popular recreation lake with locals and visitors alike. The sites in this campground are best suited to tents and smaller camping units. There is a beach, fishing, canoeing, hiking and access to the Summer Villages of Baptiste Lake. Go West from Athabasca on Highway 2, continue West on Highway 812, then follow Township Road 664 around Baptiste Lake to the campground, total distance approximately 17 km. No reservations. 5 Long Lake Campground This campground is located on the north west tip of Long Lake, this campground shares it s shores with Forfar Park and a Junior Forest Wardens Camp. The lake and area offer some great fishing, boating, hiking and off site access to quadding trails, though we do not allow ATVs in the campground. No reservations. Boat launch, accommodates small boats Firewood (delivered Tuesday, Friday and Saturday) 4 Un serviced campsites Overnight (per night) $10 Go West 15 km from Athabasca on Highway 2, continue West on Highway 812, turn south on Highway 812 and go 16 km to Highway 663, turn west follow to Township Road 650 approximately 6 km, 2.5 km to Range Road km, turn west at Township Road 651 and go 0.5 km to the campground. From Edmonton, north on Highway 2, turn west on to Highway 663 and go 15 km, turn onto Township Road 650, follow to Range Road 250, turn at Township Road 651 follow signs. 6 Narrow Lake Campground Narrow Lake is located on the west side of the County and is a popular recreation lake with divers and boaters. This lake is shared with Camp Wright, an air cadet camp located across the lake and with the Alberta Fish and Game Association Outdoor Education Facility. The sites in this campground have been under going some upgrades and offer some beautiful camping opportunities. There is a beach, fishing, canoeing, hiking, and other great recreational opportunities. No reservations. Boat launch Firewood (delivered Tuesday, Friday and Saturday) 10 Un serviced campsites Go West from Athabasca on Highway 2, for 15 km continue West on Highway 812, turn south on Highway 812 for 13 km to Township Road 652, 7 km to the campground. From Edmonton, north on Highway 2, turn North on to Highway 663 travel for 10 km, at Township Road 652, 7km West. All distances are approximate. 7 Island Lake Campground Picturesque Island Lake is located 30 km West and North of Athabasca. This lake has many islands and bays making it ideal for bird watching and canoeing. Recreational boating, swimming, and fishing are also great summer time activities enjoyed at Island Lake. No reservations. 8 Ghost Lake Campground A tranquil, small lake with a well treed shoreline, Ghost Lake is the perfect spot for a relaxing get away. This campground offers fishing, canoeing, but there is a 12 km/hour boat speed limit enforced on the lake. No reservations. 9 North Buck Narrows Campground North Buck Narrows offers limited access to North Buck Lake, for small water craft or experienced boaters. This is a secluded campground offering privacy for smaller camping units. No reservations. From Grassland 6.5 km south on Range Road 183, East 3 km on Township Road 670, South 3 km on Range Road 182, East 3 km on Township Road 664 and 3 km South on Range Road 180 to the campground. 10 Day Use & Rest Areas in Athabasca Highway 63 Rest Area Stop, stretch and rest at this roadside stop. Nice spot for a picnic! Located West of Boyle on Highway 63. Boyle Fish Pond Bring the family out for a nature walk and wiener roast at the Boyle Fish Pond. The pond is stocked each spring with trout for your angling pleasure. The rest area is located South of Boyle on Highway 831. Rochester Rest Area When traveling north on Highway 2, the Rochester Rest area is just 1 km north of Highway 661.
