5 ENTRIES All exhibitors are advised to confirm with the Organisers receipt of their entries on or before the closing date of entries. Faxed entries will only be accepted if accompanied by a copy of the bank deposit slip, which clearly states the name of the competitor in the reference block, e.g.:- J. Smith. Please complete the details of your method of payment on the entry form. Entries will not be accepted until such time as the correct entry fee and signed indemnity form has been received by the organisers. Refunds will not be made for entries withdrawn after the closing date of entries. THE ROYAL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY OF NATAL GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS 1. Powers of the Committee 1.1 The word Committee in these General Regulations and elsewhere in the Prize List refers to the Executive Committee of the Royal Agricultural Society of Natal, the organising committee and to such other Committees of the Society to which the Executive Committee may delegate specific duties and powers. 1.2 The Committee shall have the right of refusing any entry made and shall not be bound to give any reason for so doing. 1.3 The Committee shall have the power to withhold the whole or part of the prizes offered by the Society in the event of there being no competition, or the exhibits being considered by the judges unworthy of such prize. 1.4 The Committee is empowered to introduce such regulations and procedures for the smooth running of the annual Show as it shall deem fit, subject to exhibitors being notified of such regulations through the medium of the Prize Lists, or other publications, or by means of circulars. 1.5 The Committee is empowered not only to decide whether or not the annual Show shall be held, but is also entitled at any time in its absolute discretion to cancel, vary or alter any or all arrangements which may have been made in connection with the holding of the annual Show. 2. Loss or Destruction of Goods 2.1 No claim whatsoever shall lie against organising committees or the Royal Agricultural Society arising out of the theft of, loss or damage to the property of any person or association of persons on premises falling under the control of, the organising committees and the Royal Agricultural Society irrespective of the cause of such theft, loss or damage. 2.2 The Royal Agricultural Society is hereby indemnified and held harmless against any and all

6 claims, at the instance of any person or association of persons, which may arise out of the theft, loss or damage aforementioned. 3. Public Liability Insurance The Society s Public Liability Insurance Policy does not cover Exhibitors. It is in the interests of Exhibitors, therefore, to obtain their own Public Liability Insurance cover for the Show period. 4. Prize Money Monetary prizes will be paid by direct deposit, or presented in cash at the end of each class, by The Royal Show Holder to all successful exhibitors within 14 days after the conclusion of the event. 5. Responsibilities of Exhibitors 5.1 Each exhibitor shall be solely responsible for the description submitted in the entry form for inclusion in the catalogue of any animal exhibited by him. 5.2 Each exhibitor shall be solely responsible for any consequential or other injury, loss or damage to, occasioned by, or arising from any animal or article and shall indemnify The Royal Show Holder and the Society against legal or other proceedings in regard thereto. 5.3 Any person who shall bring any diseased animal of any kind to the Show shall be liable to a fine of R2 000 and shall be disqualified from receiving any of the benefits of the Society. 5.4 Any relevant official acting on behalf of The Royal Show Holder and the Royal Agricultural Society of Natal reserves the right to reject any animal deemed to be unworthy of the Show ring. Further, such official may, at his/her discretion, report the matter to the SPCA or any other similar authority. 5.5 Whilst every reasonable care will be taken of exhibits, no responsibility or legal liability whatsoever shall be incurred by the organising committee or the Society, which shall, under no circumstances, be liable for any loss, damage or injury to any exhibits. 5.6 One attendant at least must be present on behalf of each exhibitor in the horse section. All attendants must be subject to the orders of the stewards. 5.7 No fire may be lit in the Show grounds except in those areas designated by the Committee. Any person infringing this regulation will be held responsible for any damage that may arise. In the case of employees, their employers will be held responsible. 6. Awards obtained by exhibitors at the annual Show may be advertised by exhibitors, providing that such advertising relates specifically to the entry which appeared at the Show and which received the prize(s) referred to in the advertisement. 6.1 Any exhibitor contravening this regulation may have his entry for the following year refused by the Committee. 7. Control of Dogs 7.1 Under no circumstances will dogs be permitted in any part of the Members Enclosure or Grandstand, including the Society s office complex. 7.2 Elsewhere on the Show grounds all dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.

7 HORSE SECTION GENERAL REGULATIONS 1. SASA & SAEF RULES 1.1 All disciplines will be conducted under SASA & SAEF Rules that are enforced at closing date of entries, 1.2 Closing Date of Entries All entries in the Horse Section close on 18 th May LATE ENTRIES will NOT be accepted under any circumstances. 3. ENTRIES 3.1 All entries must be made on the prescribed form and must be accompanied by the correct entry fees. 3.2 One form per Rider. Please keep SHOWING entries separate from JUMPING entries. The INDEMNITY form with Rider Banking details (for Prize Money) & Stabling form must also be signed & sent with entry form. 3.3 All entries from Regional and Associate Bodies must be certified by the Secretary of the South African Showing Association to the effect that the stated grades, grading points/qualifying rounds and heights for measured classes are correct as at the closing date of entries. 4. SASA LEVIES & MEMBERSHIP Open and Novice Class entry Fees of R100 include R37.50 SASA Levy and R4.50 EDTS. In-hand classes the levy is R18.75 & R4.50 EDTS. Levies on each entry made by competitors will be paid to the South African Showing Association. Riders & horses not registered with SASA but wishing to compete in the Open & Novice Classes must pay a SASA Temporary Membership fee of R30.00 with their entry fees. Temporary members will not earn Rider Ranking or Victor Ludorum Points. Membership forms may be obtained on the SASA website or from admin@showingsa.ca.za. All classes will be run under SASA showing rules 14 th edition (Revised March 2015) All owners and riders entering the showing classes must be registered with a club & SAEF Horses entering the showing classes must be registered with SAEF.

8 5. AFRICAN HORSE SICKNESS & EQUINE FLU It is the responsibility of ALL Exhibitors to ensure that they comply with the control measures for African Horse Sickness and Equine Flu. The batch number and date of inoculation against Equine Flu must be clearly stated on the entry form. Competitors will be fined in respect of inoculations that have expired and may be refused entry to the show. Please ensure that your passports are fully up to date and are available at the show. 6. STABLE ALLOCATION 6.1 The allocation of stabling accommodation is carried out by the organising committee and the Society s Committee and is final and binding on the competitor. Under no circumstances may any competitor change his stabling accommodation or alter the stabling list without prior consultation with, and approval by, the Organising Committee and the Society. 6.2 Vehicle (and Horse Box) Access ALL horses/ponies requesting stabling will be stabled within the show grounds Free parking for light vehicles displaying an appropriate access permit is available in the Gate 3A car park. Please note, no horse boxes will be permitted entry into this area All horse boxes, heavier vehicles and transport rigs must be parked in a designated area within Townhill Hospital grounds. This area, located some 200 metres from the show grounds, will enjoy 24-hour security For off-loading and loading purposes, entry to the show grounds will be via Gate 5, with the exit being via Gate Due to limited space within the stabling area only a certain number of equine transporters will be allowed into the show grounds at any time and each vehicle will be given 25 minutes to off-load / load and vacate the grounds (to park in the Townhill Hospital parking area). This exercise is to be effected via an aircraft stacking system as follows: Prior to entering the show grounds, all equine transport / service vehicles will be required to enter the Townhill Hospital grounds, park and be issued with a number. To avoid congestion, the vehicles will thereafter be authorized in number sequence or at the discretion of the marshal on duty at Townhill (who will be in constant radio communication with Gate 5) to enter the show grounds proper In the interests of all stakeholders, equine horse transporter drivers and ancillary vehicles must adhere strictly to the gate marshal and stabling marshal s requests at all times.

9 6.2.7 Save for loading and unloading (and subject to the 25 minute restriction), no vehicles will be permitted to park in the grounds of the RAS. Any vehicle contravening this regulation will be removed at the cost and risk of the driver/owner and the rider may at the Society s sole discretion be disqualified from competing Competitors must ensure that the appropriate vehicle entry permit is displayed at all times. 6.3 GROOMS ACCOMMODATION Accommodation will be made available for grooms to sleep and for the storage of food and tack. These facilities may be shared with other grooms. 6.4 STABLE BEDDING Initial bedding is provided. Additional bedding can be purchased from the show office. Ablutions are located close by. 7. EXERCISING OF HORSES Under no circumstances may horses be exercised in the Main Arena at any time throughout the period of the Show. 8. MEMBERSHIP FACILITIES AND DRESS 8.1 The access control system, which has been in place for several years, will be enforced at this year s Royal Show. 8.2 Competitors are requested to ensure that the overalls worn by their grooms are clean and in a satisfactory state of repair. 9. SUBSTITUTIONS 9.1 Application for substitutions must be made on the form provided at the Equestrian Clubhouse not later than 60 minutes before the commencement of the competition concerned. 10. DIVISION OF CLASSES In the event of there being a large number of entries catalogued for any Class, such Class will be divided into two pools with approximately an equal number of competitors in each pool. Separate prize money will be provided for each pool. 11. VARIATION TO THE PROGRAMME The programme of events and the conditions relating thereto will be adhered to as far as is possible. The organising committee, in conjunction with the Society s Committee reserves the right to cancel Classes and/or re-arrange the programme in the event of insufficient or

10 excessive entries, unfavourable weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. Entry fees will not be refunded to any competitor in the event of any competition being changed to a different day. 12. PRIZE MONEY 40% net entry fees overall. No Prize money for unaffiliated classes but Rosettes and sponsored prizes. CODE OF CONDUCT The South African Equestrian Federation (SAEF) and The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) expects all those involved in International Equestrian Sport to adhere to the Code of Conduct and to acknowledge and accept that at all times the welfare of the horse must be paramount and must never be subordinated to competitive or commercial influences. 1. At all stages during the preparation and training of competition horses, welfare must take precedence over all other demands. This includes good horse management, training methods, farriery and tack, and transportation. 2. Horses and competitors must be fit, competent and in good health before they are allowed to compete. This encompasses medication use, surgical procedures that threaten welfare or safety, pregnancy in mares and the misuse of aids. 3. Events must not prejudice horse welfare. This involves paying careful attention to the competition areas, ground surfaces, weather conditions, stabling, site safety and fitness of the horse for onward travel after the event. 4. Every effort must be made to ensure that horses receive proper attention after they have competed and that they are treated humanely when their competition careers are over. This covers proper Veterinary care, competition injuries, euthanasia and retirement. 5. SAEF and FEI urges all involved with the sport to attain the highest levels of education in their areas of expertise.

12 The Champion will receive The Showtime Shows Floating Trophy presented by The Royal Show Holder. Open and compulsory to 1 st and 2 nd Prize winners from classes 1 to 4. SHOULD THERE BE ENOUGH TIME AND SUFFICIENT ENTRIES THE SHOWHOLDERS WOULD LIKE TO INCLUDE AN EGG AND SPOON, SACK AND OBSTICLE COURSE CLASSES FOR OUR YOUNG RIDERS. UNAFFILIATED SHOWING RULES: No cross entries are permitted between riders in the Lead Rein and First Ridden classes, and between the Lead Rein & First Ridden classes and any other affiliated classes. Lead Rein and must be ridden in snaffle bridles. Spurs are not allowed in these classes. Lead Rein ponies must be led off the noseband. Class 3 Lead Rein Utility Pony and Class 4, First Ridden Utility Pony, will be judged on a simple working pony test. Lead Rein ponies must not exceed 1.37m Although these classes are unaffiliated, i.e. ponies, owners and riders do not need to be members of the SASA, the classes will be run according to SASA Rules. In ALL Classes there will be a Special Rosette for the highest placed Recorded/Registered Part-bred or Purebred Welsh Pony. IN-HAND CLASSES Not Affiliated Rosettes only No. Entry Fee 7. The Supreme Champion Adult horse on show will receive the Air Marshall floating trophy presented by Mr and Mrs Brownlee and a Royal Show Sash. The Reserve Supreme Champion Adult Horse on show will receive the Chicara Perpetual Challenge floating trophy presented by Mrs Cherry Williamson, and a Royal Show Sash. THE SUPREME CHAMPION JUNIOR HORSE ON SHOW will receive the Flash Memorial Floating Trophy presented by Mr and Mrs du Toit. This trophy will be awarded to the highest placed Junior Horse in the above Supreme Championship class and a Royal Show Sash. The Royal Show Medallion will be presented to the Adult Showing Victor Ludorum. The Royal Show Medallion will be presented to the Junior Showing Victor Ludorum KZN ARABIAN SPORT HORSE CHAMPIONSHIPS 1. 18 DATE AND VENUE Date 4 th June 2015 Venue Royal Agricultural Showgrounds Pietermaritzburg, KZN 4. GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR ENTRIES Entries are restricted to members and registered breeders of Arab Horse Society, who are in good standing with the Society. All entries are subject to the current Show Rules and Regulations of the Society and the Royal Agricultural Society. All horses entered in the show must be birth notified and/or registered with the AHS of South Africa. The ages of all horses and riders (where applicable) are to be calculated from the date of birth up to the closing date of entries. The Organiser has the right to combine, divide or cancel classes should it be necessary. Purebred and partbred classes may be combined should entries not warrant separate classes. However, our best efforts will be made to keep them separate. Entry Fees are not refundable for any reason other than cancellation of a class. Each member entering for Shows must complete and sign his/her own entry form. Payments / deposits by the member for his/her entry fees must be made under the correct reference as per entry. Entries can be sent to the Show Organiser by fax or by with proof of payment attached and need not necessarily be sent from a specific address Temporary Memberships can be R Champions must be available for photo sessions as ordered by the Society. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION

19 This prize list must be read in conjunction with the Rules and Regulations of the Society. 1. Any horse breaking loose in the arena or collecting ring will be fined R Exhibitors are urgently requested to ensure themselves of the starting times of the respective classes, as only two minutes will be allowed between the end of one class, and the commencement of the following class, before the gate will be officially closed. No late comers will be allowed to enter the arena. 3. Exhibitors must enter the arena in program order. 4. Exhibitors must enter the arena via the marshalling arena. 5. All scratching must immediately be brought to the attention of the marshalling steward, before the start time of the applicable class. Non compliance will be fined R Failing to cancel a horse who qualify for a championship during the National Championships and then not showing the horse in that particular class will lead to a R FINE. 7. All complaints must be IN WRITING and submitted at the show office, not later than one hour after the incident, together with R 1000, 00 deposit. 8. In view of the fact that time is restricted due to the many classes and that specific halter and riding classes may be run simultaneously, exhibitors are requested to make provision in advance for sufficient handlers and/or riders to show their horses. 9. Exhibitors should acquaint themselves with the rules applicable to the relevant classes. A rulebook is obtainable from the Arab Horse Society Horses exhibited in a class for horses under 2 years of age may not be shod. 11. Tests for the use of drugs, ginger or any other typical forbidden substances may at any time be required by the show organiser. 12. No person other than official Stewards will be allowed to enter the arena during judging or to communicate with the Officiating Judges (or official Veterinarian during examinations). 13. Only the handler or rider will be allowed in the arena whilst judging is taking place. 14. Representatives of an exhibitor may change horses during a class only with the permission of the steward and providing that there is no disruption of the class. 15. All horses shall remain on the Showground s at the expense and risk of the owner/handler. 16. Officials on hand will be monitoring the violation of any rule as per current Show Rules and Regulations. 6. INFORMATION ON CLASSES

20 1. Liberty: Judges will be looking for freedom of movement, expression and personality. The gait that will be judged most is the trot. Each entrant will have 3 minutes for their performance. Music is the responsibility of the handler the cd is to be clearly labelled with the horse s name and class number..the principal entry may have a maximum of two additional persons to assist with shakers or rattles during the three minute period. These helpers may position themselves anywhere in the arena and move around at will.. Any horse that cannot be caught within one minute of the music stopping will be eliminated. 2. Sport Horse:. Sport horse classes are only for pure-bred arabians. No face clips, no hard stand-ups, no shaking of bags or heavy shoeing will be allowed. No whips over 50cm will be allowed. 3. Jumping Open to pure and part breds. Class 24 - will be a clear round completion of 50cm Class 25- will be a 70cm class with a jump-off for all clear rounds. This class will be judged on show jumping rules, so fastest clear round win. Class 26 will be one jump starting at 50cm and increase with another pole 10cm each time, the horse clearing the highest jump wins, knocking a pole or refusals will result in immediate elimination. PLEASE LOOK FOR THE ARENA EVENTING UNDER THE MAIN RAS CLASSES- PRIZES FOR ARABS COMPETING 4. Eventing Dressage score from class 28, Jumping score from class 25 and score from RAS Arena eventing will determine the Eventing champion. Special trophy. 7. JUDGE There is an overseas judge for all classes- Ms Annette Vickery from Australia.
