8 India India has adopted DRM as the national standard (March 2009) DRM trials in SW conducted over 1.5 years (2007) Regular DRM service started from SW Transmitter at Delhi on16th January 2009 Approximately 5hours of txs to Europe between 2315 to 400IST on 9950kHz with an additional 3 hours of local transmission within India from 1430 to 1730 IST on 6100 khz in NVIS mode

9 India India is investing seriously into DRM (250 Million USD) All India Radio renewing and replacing all MF transmitters with DRM30 76 transmitters Two new high power (1 MW) HF transmitters for international broadcasting (one starts transmission in October 2011) DRM+ trial completed in Delhi (May 2011) No sundown date has been published officially but AIR papers mention 2015 and lately 2017 as the switch-off date. As there is also interest in DRM+ switch off will be phased

10 India DRM Consortium activity in India: Consortium is in constant contact with AIR Consortium chair has met the Communication Minister in 2009 (November) and the state secretary in charge of digital radio several times since (at least twice this year) With the help of the Ministry and AIR, main network operator we have launched an Indian platform to facilitate links and information among major stakeholders. Next meeting scheduled in November 2011.
