Bob Prochnow Executive Director V1.2 History 2 NASA Johnson Space Center held meetings throughout the region about increasing collaboration and finding solutions to space exploration technology challenges Other organizations were also interested in more effectively finding new collaboration partners In 2014, a steering committee was formed and plans were finalized for launching the TCC TCC launched in 2015 with initial focus on providing expert concierge service in connecting difficult technology problems to potential solutions from diverse industries 1

Mission 3 Help solve difficult technology problems through new collaboration partnerships across industry, academia & government Member-driven organization providing value to members and the community Independent non-profit, with programs to help form new partnerships How is the TCC unique? 4 Match maker and facilitator Helping other organizations achieve their goals, through new partnerships Assists in forming the partnerships, but will not develop the technology Avoiding conflicts of interest with members and other organizations Not focused on specific technologies, industries or regions Assists any organization looking for new partnerships to solve technology problems Independent member-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit Board of Directors and Advisory Council composed of members 2

Founding Supporting Organizations 5 Launched with the support of organizations representing Space, Energy and Medicine, across industry, academia and government: Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership Baker Hughes Battelle - BayTech Chevron Houston Technology Center Jacobs - NASA Johnson Space Center Rice University- Shell Texas Medical Center University of Houston - Wyle Current Programs 6 Collaboration Concierge Service Match maker identifying new collaboration partners Events Bringing potential partners together for events on a specific technology area Presentations on difficult unmet technology challenges and new innovations Events open to any organization for attendance and presentations TCC may host events or may support other organizations events 3

Collaboration Concierge Service 7 Help form new joint technology development collaborations, solving problems too complex for a single organization Any organization can submit Collaboration Requests or Responses Review Panel provides advice on Request improvements After addressing feedback, Call for Collaboration Responses issued TCC reviews Responses with the Request submitter and provides assistance in assembling custom project team Fast Launch program planned to accelerate formation of new project teams, leveraging TCC Member project template agreements 2015 Collaboration Concierge Service Open Requests 8 NASA Johnson Space Center 5 requests posted on TCC website solving challenges for human spaceflight solutions may have application to other industries, providing an opportunity for partners to also benefit from the technology TCC helping to prepare requests from other organizations Any organization can submit requests to help find partners for new joint technology development collaborations 4

2015 Collaboration Concierge Service Open Requests NASA Johnson Space Center Innovative air drying via lightweight structure coating Surface coating materials with dehumidifying capabilities for various lightweight structures. Order of magnitude improvement needed in amount of surface area for given thermal mass. Lightweight cooling garment Minimizing mass, volume and consumable usage for astronaut space suits. Current technology has large mass, power and volume penalties for liquid cooling and venting garment Collaboration Concierge Service Open Requests NASA Johnson Space Center 10 Low-water clothing sanitation Need to wash clothing using little or no water for long duration missions. Current method of discarding clothing after use on International Space Station (ISS) won t be an option for deep space missions. Radiation shielding garment Lightweight, unobtrusive mobility, radiation shielding materials. Current materials are very heavy and provide limited protection. 5

2015 Collaboration Concierge Service Open Requests NASA Johnson Space Center 11 Water motion emulation Develop technology to produce motion in an Orion space capsule vehicle trainer at JSC s Neutral Buoyancy Lab (NBL), providing training in a variety of scenarios in a controlled environment Events 12 Successor to JSC Connect series Organized by JSC, HTC and Texas Emerging Technology Fund (TETF) 5 events on water quality, robotics, telemedicine, RFID & batteries in 2013 & 2014 Focus on specific technology area, with events held by TCC or partners Presentations on latest innovations and unsolved challenges Presentations by experts from TCC Members and outside community New opportunities for collaboration partnerships Attendance and presentations open to all organizations 6

Event Schedule 13 March 26 Air Quality Technologies hosted & sponsored by the HTC June 9 Knowledge Management Technologies hosted by NASA JSC, sponsored by SGT August 27 Executive Director speaking at Federal Lab Consortium regional meeting November 18 Executive Director speaking at SpaceCom 2015 Conference Late 2015/early 2016 topic TBA April 2016 (tentative) Wearable Technologies hosted by NASA JSC April 20, 2016 (tentative) Precision Medicine and Genomics hosted by Rice University Membership 14 Tiered Membership Levels Full, Industry, Partner, Community and Individual Preferred access to TCC programs, based on level Full Members invited to Board of Directors Full, Industry & Partner Members invited to Advisory Council 7
