The Corporation was created as a tax-exempt Texas nonprofit corporation in 1991 and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a charitable organization described in section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended. In September of 2003, the Texas Economic Development Corporation launched the TexasOne program to market and promote Texas as a premier business location. The Corporation is one of two interconnected and highly focused organizations which is the cornerstone for Governor Abbott s administration s economic development agenda - The Office of the Governor s Economic Development and Tourism Division and Texas Economic Development Corporation. The program champions the state s economic development initiatives and creates a surge of national and international awareness that Texas is resetting the bar for business. The results generate leads; increase job creation and retention; boost capital investment and trade. Annual commitment levels ranging from $1,000 to $250,000 pledged for five years offer an array of benefits. The TexasOne 2.0 campaign goal is to raise $25 million to support a five-year marketing plan. How will the funds be used? TexasOne will create and execute the strongest and most competitive economic development marketing approach in the country. TexasOne is an initiative that will influence decision makers and attract and retain business to the Lone Star State on a global scale. An effort of this magnitude requires an integrated marketing strategy, which includes: A Unified Message Adopt a single, unified marketing message and brand that convey both outside the state and within the unique character of Texas. Full Powered Support Rally the full power of the business community, economic development organizations and key assets to aggressively promote the state at home, nationally and internationally. A Proactive Campaign Launch a bold, proactive marketing campaign with a focus on strategic direction for business development aimed at helping the state generate jobs, capital investment and attract foreign investment.
6 Why Now? The time is NOW for Texas to reset the economic development model. Governor Abbott has signaled a new direction for the state and our business climate making TexasOne bigger, broader and bolder to bring new businesses to Texas, and grow the ones that already here and to be much more aggressive in attracting foreign direct investment so that we become not just the national leader, but a world leader in job creation.
