3 Greetings from the CEO Dear shareholders, partners and customers In 1970, Dong Won Fisheries Co., Ltd started as a fishing company operating a trawler and tuna long liner, and has grown into a diversified seafood company, operating 18 deep sea fishing vessels, 3 local subsidiaries and 4 overseas companies including a seafood processing plant in China and cold storage facilities in New Zealand. with annual revenue of USD 150 million. Our growth has been largely contributed to our spirit of challenge. We have always explored new areas in the business field and fishing areas. These efforts have contributed to the development of Korea s fisheries industry and in becoming a leader in the world fisheries industry. C.E.O tells Dongwon vision for you! In the early 1970s, Dong Won s efforts to secure a bridgehead in West African Sea with it s Las Palmas branch brought successful results, which helped pave the way for fishing operations for another 100 Korean vessels. The area was unexplored world to Korean companies in those days. During this process, Dong Won contributed to development of new diplomatic relationship with Republic of Guinea Bissau and Korean government honored Dong Won by awarding the Mok-Ryeon Jang, National medal. In 1990 when Korea had not established diplomatic relationship with China yet, Dong Won took a leading role in the establishment of Weidong Ferry Co., Ltd. which operates car-ferries between Korea and China. It has grown into a company with over USD 100 million in annual revenue and USD 12 million in net profit. Dong Won is concentrating on further expanding its business to the world by using Weihai Dong Won Food, a speciailized seafood processing company established in Weihai China, and Sanwon, located in Timarua, New Zealand, as overseas bridges into Japan, U.S.A., E.U. and other countries. 4 World challenge, towards the wild whirlwind Dongwon Korea is a history of the fishing industry. Dong Won Fisheries Co., Inc. (Dong 1970~ Won) was established on May 5, 1970 with total capital of USD 64,516 to conduct various businesses: deep-sea fishing: marine product processing: freezing and cold storage: and other relevant businesses. The company's capital now stands at USD 14 million and records an annual sale of USD 150 million. A overseas branch was set up in Timaru, 1985~ New Zealand for trawl fishery. We and Sanford who has the largest fishing quota, maintain a strong cooperative relationship. We are currently operating three vessels catching about 20,000 MT per year, catching mainly squid, hoki, and hake. Frozen food processing plant and cold 1987~ storage factilities were established in Busan. Dong Won is making its utmost efforts to utilize environment friendly raw materials, with an aim of supplying products satisfying customer needs. San Won s Business In 1998, established San Won Ltd in Timaru, New Zealand with Sanford Ltd, the largest fishering company in New Zealand. New Zealand Wei Dong Ferry s Business Dong Won and Weihai City Shipping Association Co., Ltd took a leading role in establishing car ferry business between Korea and China in Dong Won and 6 other Korean investors hold a 50% share and 2 Chinese investors hold the other 50%.
