2 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Samuel & Sons Introduces The Shangri-La Collection by Roger Thomas AUGUST 2015 (NEW YORK, NY) This month, Samuel & Sons, the premiere passementerie brand, celebrates the launch of Shangri-La, its third collection collaboration with renowned designer Roger Thomas. Shangri-La is an enchanting collection introducing five intricately embroidered designs by Roger Thomas, that will bring exquisite luxury and mystical intrigue to any environment it graces. There are places I visit that cause the immediate sensation of being in another world...certain cities and locations transport me with a sense of connection to my imagination; places I visit that seem to me most dreamlike, such as Venice, Seville, and Beijing, explains renowned designer Roger Thomas. These places inspire great flights of creativity. This is also true of working with age-old, intricate techniques and the most exquisite materials such as silk embroidery and beadwork, he added. Inspired by the places I love and by the sheer beauty of these techniques of artisanal craft and handwork, I began drawing the most romantic and timeless effects I could dream. These are the qualities I wanted to evoke in Shangri-La. If I could dream the perfect world, it would include this very special and exotic passementerie, Thomas said. Shangri-La is the city of romantic dreams, the earthly paradise and thus this is a collection of ethereal, hand-beaded, embroidered silk and linen borders which explores patterns through a broad palette of sumptuous hues. The influential design head of Wynn Hotels previously developed the Roger Thomas collection and the Twist and Knot collection for Samuel & Sons. The Shangri-La collection from Roger Thomas for Samuel & Sons is available in the New York flagship showroom, the Chicago showroom in the famous Merchandise Mart, London s esteemed Design Center Chelsea Harbour, and most recently in Los Angeles, in a brand new 2000 square foot showroom, at the Pacific Design Center. Available in six colorways. China Cloud is an organic rendering of clouds through handembroidered French knots and satin stitches on linen. Available in eight colorways. Elysian is a mystical botanical pattern of lustrous leaves, enveloped in a cascade of circles. Available in five colorways. Aslan is graphic in its interpretation of animal skin patterning, rendered with bugle beads surrounded by petite seed beads. Available in four colorways. Diamond Constellation, jeweled beads dance along the silken surface, clustering like constellations and dispersing like the stars.
