3 1. Introduction The use of AutoCAD in conjunction with Archibus (our Facilities Management Software) are critical tools that enable the Department of Estates to record and maintain accurate records about the University Estate. Therefore, these procedures must be strictly adhered to by all Estates Staff, Consultant Architects, Engineers and Building Surveyors and Contractors that have been employed by the University of Bath that are required to submit As Built Information to the Department of Estates on completion of a new development or refurbishment project. This information will then be held in the Estate Information Systems for future reference. 2. Record Information As Built drawings must include (if relevant): Architectural Site plans, landscaping, floor plans including roof plan, sections, elevations, Fire Strategy, details and schedules Structural Engineers Layout plans, sections, details and calculations Electrical Mains services, layout plans, schematic diagrams Mechanical Mains services, layout plans, schematic diagrams Room Data sheets must be supplied on a CD using standard Microsoft Office software so that it can be viewed using a standard PC. This information should include details of all fixtures/fittings/services/equipment/room attributes and finishes. Please note: Finishes/product schedules must clearly state which areas/rooms they have been used/fitted in. Details of any Asbestos removal must be supplied on a CD using standard Microsoft Office software so that it can be viewed using a standard PC. This information should include a Type 3 Survey and full details of material removed including clearance/air test Certificates Specifications must be supplied on a CD using standard Microsoft Office software so that it can be viewed using a standard PC. This should be in addition to one hard copy of the Specification being submitted with the Building Manual for a completed project. For projects completed In House a copy of the Record Information must be saved in a folder Stating the project that it relates in U:\Database\Projects As Built Inbox\.. Information must be submitted on a CD in a case. Both the CD and the case must be clearly labelled to identify the project that it relates to. If there is more than one disk please also provide disk numbers ie: 1 of 3 and include a full index on each CD. An Index file must be included in Word or Excel format describing to contents of the Disk(s) Use a separate CAD (.dwg) file for each floor or level. Each CAD file should have multiple saved layouts to create each drawing using the same source data from model space Health & Safety Files/Building Manuals must be supplied on a CD using standard Microsoft Office software so that it can be viewed using a standard PC. This should be in addition to one hard copy being submitted for a completed project. Please Note: Practical completion will be NOT be issued if this information is not submitted and approved in accordance with the CDM requirements prior to the agreed completion date. University Of Bath 3
4 3. CAD Drawing Standards 3.1 Drawing Format Each CAD file must be submitted in AutoCAD 2006 (.dwg) format. dxf and.pdf formats will not be accepted. All drawings must be in millimetres All drawing must be in model space 1:1 scale with title blocks in paper (Layout) space. If Xrefs are used. These must be inserted/binded to the drawing. Polylines: Every room/space on the building floor plan should have a continuous closed Polyline drawn around the perimeter walls of that space. These must be added to the RM layer. Secondly a Polyline must also be drawn around the internal face of the external perimeter walls of the building. This must be added to the GROS layer. Drawings must only use standard AutoCAD plot styles that should be set up using the Page setup Manager. However, if it is necessary to use a different configuration then the relevant (.ctb) file must be submitted with the drawings. 3.2 Drawing revisions In order for the University of Bath to manage drawings being issued and received details of any revisions must be recorded on each drawing in the Notes section of the Title block to include: a revision letter, brief description of amendments made and a date. The relevant revision letter must also be inserted as a suffix to the drawing number. Please also ensure that the Paper layout tab is amended to match the drawing number. 3.3 Text Styles Drawings must only use standard AutoCAD text styles (RomanS or ISOCP is preferred and Ariel for titles ONLY). All non Titleblock drawing text must be inserted in model space not paper space. However, if it is necessary to use a different text style please consult with the Information Systems Manager first. 3.4 Text Heights All text heights inserted in model space will need to be scaled to be in proportion with the final plotting scale of the drawing. All text heights inserted in paper/layout space will be 1:1 true size. All text must be inserted on the appropriate named layer. 3.5 Dimensions All dimension heights inserted in model space will need to be scaled to be in proportion with the final plotting scale of the drawing. All leaders must be solid arrow heads and dimension lines must have solid arrow heads or Architectural ticks with text centred above the dimension line and inserted on the appropriate named layer. University Of Bath 4
5 3.6 Pen Settings The University of Bath s standard pen settings are specified below for Monochrome plotting. If colour plotting is required or the settings specified below are not suitable for your needs then the relevant.ctb plot style file must be submitted with the drawing file. Please consult with the Information Systems Manager first. Pen 1 Colour Red Thickness 0.18 Pen Setting 7 Pen 2 Colour Yellow Thickness 0.35 Pen Setting 7 Pen 3 Colour Green Thickness 0.50 Pen Setting 7 Pen 4 Colour Cyan Thickness 0.50 Pen Setting 7 Pen 5 Colour Blue Thickness 0.70 Pen Setting 7 Pen 6 Colour Magenta Thickness 0.13 Pen Setting 7 Pen 7 Colour White Thickness 0.25 Pen Setting 7 Pen 8 Colour Dark Grey Thickness 0.40 Pen Setting 7 Pen 9 Colour Light Grey Thickness 0.13 Pen Setting 7 The following pens are for the tile block only and should be set as follows: Pen 251 Colour Grey Thickness 0.13 Pen Setting 7 Pen 252 Colour Grey Thickness 0.25 Pen Setting 7 Pen 253 Colour Grey Thickness 0.40 Pen Setting Layering Convention A standard CAD layering system is necessary to ensure consistent drawing production across all disciplines and CAD users. The University of Bath has established a simple named layering approach so that layers can be easily recognised and managed in the future. The list below is not exhaustive and additional layers can be added using the same convention. Layer colours must be set to BYLAYER for layer management control NOT individual colours. Room Numbering Rooms These spaces will be numerically numbered on each level of the building and are prefixed with a number 0 to 9 that indicates the floor level of the building that the room is on i.e is room 11 on level 1 and 2.22 is room 22 on level 2. Rooms are numbered progressively as you approach the door openings as you travel though the corridors of the building from either the Stairs/Lift or main entrance i.e. if there are door openings both sides of the corridor the numbers will generally alternate either side of the corridor. However, if there are only door openings on one side of the corridor the numbers will generally be sequential. Where building layouts are repeated on each level room numbers should also be matched vertically i.e. the room above 1.11 should be numbered Accommodation buildings have Level 1 as ground floor. Non accommodation buildings will follow the existing levelling structure i.e. buildings south of the main Parade area (but detached) have Level 0 as ground floor. Please note: The Parade is Level 2. Rooms within Rooms These spaces will have the same room number as the main room but suffixed with a letter A to Z i.e. 1.11A. Again rooms are numbered as you approach the door openings. Circulation Space These spaces will be numerically numbered on each level of the building using the same format described for Rooms. An area between fire separation doors will constitute a space for the purposes of numbering. In addition these numbers will be prefixed with a letter to indicate the use of the space as follows: C = Corridor/Circulation Space L = Lift ST = Stairs Therefore, a Porch or Entrance Lobby/Foyer numbered C1.1 is circulation space 1 on Level 1. A Lift numbered L1.1 is Lift shaft 1 on Level 1 and Stairs numbered ST1.1 is Stairwell 1 on Level 1 and so on. University Of Bath 6
7 4. Room Numbering (Continued) Stores/Services Cupboards Spaces that have an access door off a circulation space within the building will be numbered using the same format as described for Rooms above. Service Voids/Ducts and external plant rooms Spaces that are accessed via a removable panel or accessed from the exterior of the building will be numerically numbered on each level of the building using the same format as described for Rooms and will be prefixed with the letter P to indicate a Plant type space University Of Bath 7
