2 Digital inclusion: from access to e-skills, a burning socio-economic issue which leaves over 5 million people behind in France DIGITAL INCLUSION DIGITAL JOBS DIGITAL SERVICES France needs over developers each year (Study by Syntec numérique, january 2013) 2,5 billion Google Play apps downloaded every month(flurry) SKILLS Administration Employment / Training Citizenship / Culture Consumption 56% of the French population is asking more information about how the internet works (INRIA et TNS Sofres) ACCESS that is fair and sustainable ACCESS to online/mobile solutions and equipment Our beneficiaries spend about 40 /month in their mobile phone, it is 2 times more than the national average 57% of people living below the poverty line do not have home internet access (CREDOC)

3 Emmaüs Connect, who we are We lead a global approach to develop the digital potential of vulnerable populations in France: 1. Reducing digital exclusion through field engagement: Our program, Connexions Solidaires (Connect for Good) makes data, minutes, equipments and e-skills trainings available to people suffering from social and economic exclusion. We are active in the biggest French cities: Paris, Grenoble, Lyon, Marseille, Lille 2. Allowing e-inclusion stakeholders and decisionmakers to become actors : We provide social workers, national businesses and local governments with the methodological tools they need to face the challenges of e- inclusion. Paths to digital inclusion, international strategic watch, decision making tools 3. Advocating for social integration through digital technology We work hand-in-hand with French researchers to publish yearly studies, we organize an annual Forum where all three types of above-mentioned stakeholders can meet and discuss solutions. Our nationwide program, Connexions Solidaires : welcoming and helping our beneficiaries through local partnerships We have centres in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Grenoble, Saint Denis, Antony, Lille In partnership with local actors (associations, telecentres, authorities ), they coordinate the digital paths to inclusion we have designed So far, they have welcomed more than 7000 beneficiaries Elected representatives and local governments They support our development, and communication Social workers and community organizers They guide beneficiaries to our programme, host our workshops SFR and private sponsors skill-based sponsorship Local digital actors (associations, telecentres, refurbishing programs ) We partner to fight digital exclusion Our benecifiaries Service co-construction 5

Our nationwide program, Connexions Solidaires : A program with a strong impact on the social cohesion of our regions Bringing support to general and specialised social services Making communication easier An alternative to financial aids (FSE, optional aids ) Strengthening beneficiaries independence in carrying their procedures A pedagogical tool to facilitate the discussion around budgetary issues Strengthening territorial coverage A tool that connects together more than 400 social structures A tool that connects social workers and digital actors An information and orientation desk for people who do not have access to their rights Creating socially responsible economic activity and developing social capital Activities based on a socially responsible economic model At least5 job openings per centre, for individuals who have been unemployed over the past two years A dynamic project attracting many volunteers 6

Co-creating the tools that empower our stakeholders to act Inspire our stakeholders/give them the ability To act Our strategic watch is the first to be specifically dedicated to e-inclusion in France: Tracking both good practices and inspiring innovations, at our doorstep and worldwide. Co-designing articles with experts from the social, public and private fields toward the launch of our online media in November 2014 Train and equip social workers Educating social workers on the challenges of e-inclusion (UNCCAS) Providing them with local maps of e-actors Co-designing online services for unemployed young people Support public actors We do consulting for local governments We deliver place-specific versions of our e- inclusion pathways We participate in the development of local projets Raise the private sector awareness We raise awarness among our sponsors We help them understand the specific needs of our beneficiaries and enhance the accessibility of their offers
