No:15 Selçuk/İZMİR UNIVERSITY OF TURKISH AERONAUTICAL ASSOCIATION ANKARA VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF HIGHER EDUCATION Türkkuşu Kampüsü Etimesgut/ANKARA UNIVERSITY OF TURKISH AERONAUTICAL ASSOCIATION DIRECTORATE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS Türkkuşu Kampüsü Etimesgut/ANKARA ACADEMIC YEAR FALL SEMESTER ASSOCIATE AND UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE LATERAL TRANSFER APPLICATION The required conditions, the necessary documents, and other issues for the students to be accepted by means of lateral transfer within the framework of the principles and procedures according to the guidelines of lateral transfer for the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association and the transfer between associate and undergraduate programs in Institutions of Higher Education, double major, minor and transfer of credits inter institutions are given below. LATERAL TRANSFER Requirements for Admission a) Students must be currently registered in a degree program at the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association. Freezing registrations or being on leave is not an obstacle for lateral transfer applications. b) The student, prior to the beginning of the term in which they want to complete a lateral transfer, excluding preparatory class and summer school, should have a minimum of one, a maximum of four terms at associate level, and one term in undergraduate programs. c) For lateral transfer applications for degree programs at the same level but with different required scores, starting from the year the students have taken the central exam and registered at the University, the scores received at the exam by the placement centre with the valid the type of the score for the degree program of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association are required to be equal or higher than the lowest base scores of the other equivalent domestic degree programs. d) Students of the Department of Pilotage, Faculty of Air Transportation at the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association are allowed to have an in-house lateral transfer to another undergraduate program of the university. However, students in other undergraduate degree programs are not allowed to have in-house lateral transfers to the Department of Pilotage, Faculty of Air Transportation.

4 e) Students who want to transfer from a program with the Turkish language to another with the English language program, are required to demonstrate that they have national and international scores whose equivalence is accepted by the Department of Foreign Languages, University of Turkish Aeronautical Association, or they have to be successful in the proficiency exam of the department of Foreign Languages. f) Further conditions may be introduced from time to time upon the recommendation of the relevant faculty / vocational school boards, within the decision of the Senate. NON INSTITUTIONAL LATERAL TRANSFER DOMESTIC INTERINSTTUTIONAL LATERAL TRANSFER Requirements for Application a) It is required that the degree program for which the prospective student is registered in should be the equivalent of the degree program the prospective student wants to register for in the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association. b) The prospective student must be currently registered in a degree program whose equivalence is accepted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Freezing registrations or being on leave is not an obstacle for lateral transfer applications. c) The student, prior to the beginning of the term in which they want to have lateral transfer, excluding preparatory class and summer school, should have a minimum of two, a maximum of five terms in undergraduate, a minimum of one, a maximum of two in associate programs. d) The prospective student is required to have a general GPA of at least 60 out of 100 or at least 2.00 out of 4.00 for all the courses in the program they have registered for and completed. If the quota is not filled even though the necessary conditions are met, the application of the prospective students, who cannot meet the requirements for success, but their related type of scores for the university entrance examination for that year is equal to the lowest scores or higher for the same year, are evaluated. e) The prospective student is required to have a general GPA of at least 80 out of 100 or at least 3.00 out of 4.00 for the courses they have been studying or the score of the central exam they have registered for is required to be equal or higher than the base score of the program of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association for that year, in order to gain a lateral transfer from open and distance education to formal education. f) Students who want to transfer to degree programs of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association with a whole or partially foreign language education are required to certify that they have the national and international scores whose equivalence is accepted by the Department of Foreign Languages, University of Turkish Aeronautical Association, or they have to be successful in the proficiency exam of the department of Foreign Languages. LATERAL TRANSFER FROM ABROAD Requirements for Application a) The higher education institution and the program the prospective student studies in abroad is required to be recognized by the authority of the Council of Higher Education as an institution that has the competent authority to give diplomas for associate and undergraduate programs. b) The equivalence of the degree program the prospective student is registered for abroad and the diploma program he wants to gain a lateral transfer to must be accepted by the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association. c) The prospective student is required to be registered as a student in the program they study in abroad. Provided that it is not more than for one year, freezing registration or being on leave is not an obstacle for the lateral transfer application

5 d) The student, prior to the beginning of the term in which they want to gain a lateral transfer, excluding preparatory class and summer school, should have a minimum of two, a maximum of five terms in undergraduate and minimum of one, a maximum of two terms in associate programs. e) The prospective students, in the admission to the relevant courses, which they want to have lateral transfer, who have the base exam score of the results of the exam by the placement centre in Turkey, can apply for lateral transfer without the condition of success for the courses they have been studying in their universities abroad. The lateral transfer application of the students, who apply in this way, are evaluated within the framework of the regulations set by the University Senate within the scope of the quota for lateral transfer from abroad. f) Students, who started a degree program based on the results of special aptitude tests abroad and in TRNC universities, are not able to gain a lateral transfer for the programs of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association. g) Prospective students are required to have a general GPA of at least 60 out of 100 or at least 2.00 out of 4.00 for all the courses in the program they have registered in and completed. h) Students who want to transfer to degree programs of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association with a whole or partially foreign language education are required to certify that they have the national and international scores whose equivalence is accepted by the Department of Foreign Languages, University of Turkish Aeronautical Association, or they have to be successful in the proficiency exam of the department of Foreign Languages. SPECIAL CASES IN LATERAL TRANSFERS a) In the case of being appointed permanently to another place, the transferees, their dependent children and spouses employed in public institutions and organizations and assigned in substantive and permanent public services, can be transferred to the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association, except for during the last year or the last two semesters of the academic year of the equivalent degree program after the start of new academic year. Further, transfers cannot take place after the first month of a term and, only then, on the condition that their central placement scores are higher than the base scores of the central placement scores of the program of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association on the basis of the year they have been placed, excluding quota. b) In lateral transfers from higher education institutions abroad, if the mother or father of the student is in charge of the civil service, in the case of returning to Turkey due to the termination of the duty or having a final return if the person is a worker excluding a foreign language, having studied at least for one year and the finishing the final examinations successfully is sufficient. Prospective students applying in this way, are evaluated excluding the scope of the quota of lateral transfer from abroad. c) The applications of the children of foreign diplomats, who serve in Turkey at the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association, are evaluated by the Board of Directors of the relevant faculty/ school, excluding the quota. If the application is accepted, the required adjustment program is prepared for each student. LATERAL TRANSFER FROM OTHER HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS a) The students who study in Turkish Armed Forces and study in associate and undergraduate programs in the institutions of higher education of the Police Academy, within the framework of the special laws and in accordance with the relevant provisions of the regulations, are allowed to transfer to the degree programs of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association.

6 b) Due to the reasons mentioned in the Student Disciplinary Regulations of these institutions of higher education, published in the Official Gazette No dated 13/01/1985 acts enumerated in Article 10, students who are dismissed because of failure or lack of discipline are not allowed to apply for lateral transfer to the degree programs of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association. c) With a reason not covered by the second clause, but the first clause, the students who are dismissed, from the institutions of higher education are allowed to apply for the degree programs of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association within two years from the date of dismissal. These applications are evaluated in accordance with the provisions of inter-institutional transfer. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS 1) Application Form and one photo. (Application form for Transfer Students) 2) A copy of an identity card. 3) A document confirming that the student is currently registered. (Issued within the last 3 months) 4) A document proving that the student has not been subjected to any disciplinary punishment. 5) A document indicating the score of the central placement university exam of the year that he/she has attended the university. 6) Transcript: The original official documents of all the courses the students have taken from the institute they will leave and their grades and a document that shows GPA should be presented ( It must be approved and submitted in a sealed envelope.) 7) A document that displays the curriculum and the content of the lessons in the diploma program of the higher education institution. 8) A proficiency certificate that certifies the level of English. 9) The official letter of the applicants for the termination of their fathers or mothers state abroad, or if the person is a worker in case of having a final return, who apply for lateral transfer in the higher education institutions abroad. 10) A copy of the high school diploma. The prospective students who graduated from high schools abroad are required to bring a notarized and a Turkish translation of the high school diploma and the High School Diploma Equivalency documents granted by Provincial Directorate of National Education, additionally. 11) A copy of the pages with the pictures and the identification cards of the passports of the applicants, abroad, who apply for lateral transfer. 12) The bank receipt proving that the application fee is deposited. OTHER CASES 1) The application fee is 100 and it is required to be deposited in Denizbank Ankara Branch No. TR to the bank account of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association. The bank receipt is required to be attached to the application form (the deposit of application fee is non-refundable). 2) Applications submitted by mail will not be processed. 3) The applications, with completed documents will be made between 14 July and 08 August 2014 inclusive.
