3 COMPANY PROFILE Cascade has been distributing Stainless Steel Pipe Repair Clamps and related fittings since 1984, with full manufacturing capability being introduced in We understood immediately that the supply of high quality products alone would not provide complete customer satifaction. It needed to be coupled with a first rate service to accommodate the emergency nature of customers requirements. Our success has been the result of addressing these key customer requirements and we have built up and maintained an enviable reputation in the market place since then. Quality and Service - Our Commitment To ensure the continued adherence to the high standards that the company has attained, our management and staff are committed to maintaining our performance goals, which are:- AVAILABILITY. Cascade holds substantial stocks of raw materials, work in progress and finished goods, to ensure immediate product availability. SAME-DAY POLICY. Our goal is to dispatch orders on the day they are received and we have a proven record of dispatching at least 90% of orders on the same day. SPECIAL-REQUEST RESPONSE. Orders for emergency items and non-stock items are generally dispatched within the framework of the same-day policy most often within a few hours. QUALITY. 4 Specifications of CASCADES Stainless Steel Repair Clamp for permanent pipe repairs NUTS BOLTS SHELL Available in Type 304 and Type 316. Fully passivated after welding, to restore the original passive state of the stainless steel. (specifications are subject to change without notice). LOCKING WASHER PLATE ARMOUR LUGS RECEIVER BARS GASKET LOCKING WASHER PLATE: Locks into position for easy tightening of nuts. LUGS: MIG-welded to receiver bar and fully passivated after welding. Leading edge is rounded to prevent them from catching bolt bars during installation. SHELL: 2B finish. BOLTS: Thread-rolled for strength and Teflon* coated to prevent galling. CASCADE bolts are MIG-welded to the receiver bar and fully passivated after welding. NUTS: Type 304 or 316 stainless steel. RECEIVER BARS: TIG-welded to shell to form a strong fusion, and fully passivated after welding. GASKET: Natural rubber specially formulated for water service, and made to ASTM D 2240 has antioxidant/ antiozonant agents to increase shelf life. All gaskets have a gridded design, tapered ends and vulcanized armour plates for easy installation and optimum sealing efficiency. ARMOUR: Heavy gauge stainless steel vulcanized into the gasket at the time of moulding, to ensure: that it fits permanently that it fits perfectly that it provides a smooth transition from rubber to metal * Teflon is a registered trademark of DuPont. General Information 1. Recommended pressure ratings: (1) Clamps to suit pipes up to 300mm nominal size 1.6 Mpa (2) Clamps to suit pipes above 300mm - 450mm nominal size 1.2 Mpa 2. The amount of pressure that a full circle repair clamp will contain is proportionate to the diameter of the pipe being repaired and the amount of torque applied to the bolts. Smaller diameter repair clamps will contain more pressure than larger diameter repair clamps. Cleaning and lubricating bolt threads will reduce friction and permit greater torque. 3. The pressure containing capability of a repair clamp is influenced by the pipe size, the type and extent of damage to the pipe, environment and service conditions and installation workmanship. 4. Recommended Clamp lengths The General recommendation is that the clamp length should be twice the pipe diameter. The clamp length should not be less than the diameter of the pipe. In the case of longitudinal damage, we recommend a clamp length equal to 4 times the length of the damaged section of the pipe. Where a large section of the pipe wall is broken away, a section of thin guage sheet metal should be placed over the opening to provide a sealing surface for the gasket. 5. Stainless Steel Repair Clamps do not restrain axial pipe movement. 6. Suitable anchorage must be provided where pipe movement may occur. 2

5 CASCADES ARMOUR PLATES ARE VULCANISED THEY CAN NEVER FALL OUT THE ARMOUR PLATE INSERTED INTO THE GASKET IS A CRUCIAL ELEMENT IN THE PERFORMANCE OF A REPAIR CLAMP, AS IT PROVIDES THE FULL CIRCUMFERENCE SEALING CAPABILITY OF THE REPAIR CLAMP. AS SUCH, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT ARMOUR PLATES: Be permanently fitted to prevent being dislodged or falling out at any stage Be perfectly sized to avoid having gaps between the armour and the rubber at either or both ends of the armour plate Provide a smooth transition from rubber to metal so that the thickness of the sealing area at both ends of the armour plate conforms to the thickness of the rubber Problems encountered with glued armours When an armour plate is glued either into or onto the gasket it can fall out or be dislodged, and the full circumference sealing capability of the clamp will be lost. When an armour plate is glued into the gasket, it may not fit properly, leaving gaps or crevices at one or both ends that can cause low-pressure points (See Figure 1). Under pressure these low-pressure points sink to fill the gaps shown in the schematic diagram, leaving a potential leak path between the pipe and gasket. ARMOUR PLATE GLUED INTO GASKET Stainless Steel Shell Rubber Sealing Gasket Gap Gap Weak Point Pipe Figure 1 Weak Point On the other hand, when armour plates are glued onto the gasket, or welded to the clamps shell, they protrude, and there is no uniformity in the transition from rubber to metal (see Figure 2). The protruding armour plate will, under pressure, create low-pressure points and potential leak paths between the pipe and gasket. 6 CASCADES ALL STAINLESS STEEL PERMANENT REPAIR CLAMPS Fast-action Cascade repair clamps eliminate the need for costly pipe replacement and repairs. Simply open the clamp, wrap it around the leak, engage locking washer plate and tighten. All gaskets fitted to Cascades repair clamps are custom-sized to fit the specific ranges of pipe diameters, eliminating the need for joining gaskets. Produced in a gridded design with tapered ends to ensure optimum sealing efficiency, all gaskets have armour plates that are vulcanised into the rubber at the moulding stage they fit perfectly and cannot be dislodged. Full Circle, Single Band Repair Clamps (CR1) Suitable for pipes from 2 through to 12, Cascade CR1-type repair clamps can be supplied in various lengths to suit your needs. The armour plate s span allows you an outside diameter operating range of up to 10mm. A standard range is always available (refer page 10), and we can manufacture clamps to fit non-standard pipe OD s at very short notice. Full Circle Double-Band Repair Clamps (CR2) Cascade CR2-type repair clamps offer you double the flexibility in operating OD ranges, and are capable of withstanding higher pressures. Double Band repair clamps are available on request and can be dispatched at short notice. Full Circle Multi-band Repair Clamps (CR3 or more) Cascade multi-band repair clamps are made up on request to suit your specific requirements. Used mainly on larger diameter pipes, they offer the greatest flexibility in operating OD ranges. Tapped Repair Clamps (CTR) Manufactured on request, Single, Double and Multi-band tapped repair clamps provide the same quick-and-easy Cascade fitting qualities. They are extremely useful for repairing broken and damaged pipe at service connections or branch lines, restoring the connection at the same time. Also efficient in cases where pipes are prone to circumferential cracking, as they provide full circumference sealing. 4

7 Flanged Offtakes (CFO) Made in Single, Double and Multi-band options to suit customers requirements. Flanged offtakes provide a full circumference seal around the pipe, while at the same time providing a reinforcing effect to the pipe. Flanged offtakes are manufactured on request and customers need to specify pipe OD, diameter of offtake and flange specification. Service Saddles (CSS) The flexible stainless steel band allows for easy fitting while wrapping fully around the pipe, providing support and stability eliminating the crushing effect of more rigid products. The band is recessed to correctly position the O ring gasket and provide maximum sealing. Recommended for PVC pipe and manufactured to suit pipe sizes up to 12, Cascade service saddles can be fitted with 1 /2 through to 2 diameter sockets. Service Saddles 2 Parts (CSS-2) Specially designed to suit all types of pipe within the same nominal diameter as they have a wider OD range. Fast/Half Clamps (Code CFC) Used for repairing pin-hole breaks in smaller diameter pipes, they provide a quick, easy and cost-effective solution for this type of break. Cascade fast/half clamps are available in sizes to suit galvanised pipe from 1 /2 through to 2. To install a Cascade fast/half clamp, simply unhitch the bolt-head, spread lugs open, snap into position over the leak and tighten your leak-repair is complete. Standard lengths always in stock are and (refer page 11). Junior Couplings (Code CFW) Cascade junior couplings provide a quick, easy and cost-effective solution for joining and repairing larger breaks in smaller diameter pipes, by providing a full circumference seal around the pipe. Available in sizes to suit galvanised and copper pipe from 1 /2 to 1 1 /2. To install: Unhitch bolt-head, slide gasket out and wrap around leak. Spread lugs open, snap into position over the gasket, tighten- making sure that the armour plate s centering nipples are positioned between the clamp s ends -and your repair is complete. Standard lengths always in stock are and (refer page 11). CFC and CFW Ranges - General Material Specifications: Clamp Band - Stainless Steel. Available in Type 304 and Type 316 Lugs - Ductile iron, yellow dichromate.
