3 Recenti attività scientifiche/ Recent Scientific Activities. Experimental investigations were carried out to characterize the behavior of concrete specimens confined with different glass fabrics under uniaxial compression, which is a relevant area in retrofitting of RC structures. Methodologies for non-linear finite element analysis of concrete specimens confined with different glass fabrics have been developed which can be effectively employed in determining the number of layers of additional reinforcement required for seismically deficient structures. Analytical model has been developed for ultimate strength evaluation of RC columns confined with FRP systems, which will serve as a guideline for determining the load carrying capacity of FRP retrofitted concrete columns. Optimisation of mix design for normal strength concrete has been done using particle packing methods helping to effectively reduce the porosity of concrete and to increase the durability of structures. Mix proportion have been developed for fine grained matrix for fabric reinforced concrete indicating the applicability of inorganic binders along with fabric and its competency with organic binders. Methodologies have been developed by incorporating corrosion effects for crack growth study and fatigue remaining life prediction of reinforced concrete structural components will be useful for providing an insight for maintenance and rehabilitation of existing structures. Fracture mechanics based artificial neural network (ANN) model have been developed for remaining life prediction of RC beams incorporating corrosion effects. This will help to predict the life of a structure subjected to different degree of corrosion without involving huge calculation effort. Developed methodologies for damage assessment of structural concrete due to impact of projectile. These methodologies will be useful for the defence sector.
