3 About MyCPD MyCPD is the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program for Fellows and non Fellow participants. The CPD program: provides a framework for participants to equip themselves for their current and future professional roles; strives to ensure that participants meet the professional standards of the College, the expectations of the public, and the regulatory requirements of government authorities. Accreditation & registration The RACP CPD program is accredited by the Australian Medical Council and the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ). For more information on the CPD requirements for registration purposes: Medical Board of Australia (MBA) CPD Registration Standard For Australian participants MCNZ Recertification and Continuing Professional Development Booklet For New Zealand participants Key dates & requirements The MyCPD program is based on an annual calendar year cycle, with submissions due 31 March of the following year. 1 NOVEMBER 1 JANUARY 31 DECEMBER 31 MARCH CPD records open for planning CPD year/cycle CPD submission due date The annual requirement is 100 credits. As a matter of fairness to all members a cost recovery fee applies to the processing of submissions made after the CPD recording deadline. For more information, click here. Page 1 of 15

4 MyCPD Framework MyCPD operates under a flexible framework within which participants are encouraged to self accredit CPD activity relevant to their scope of practice. 5 Access MyCPD 1 Navigate to the RACP homepage ( and click on MyCPD located in the Quick Links menu. 2 Enter your RACP MIN or your primary address recorded with the College, and your password. Click Login. You will then be re directed to MyCPD. Page 3 of 15

6 Respond to the MCNZ registration question 1 When you first login to MyCPD, you will be prompted to answer a question from the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) regarding your country of practice and registration requirements. For Australian and international participants: Select No and click Save. For New Zealand participants: Select from the three options under Yes based on your registration with MCNZ, and click Save. 2 Additional information about your CPD requirements based on your registration will then appear. 7 Access previous years & print/download your certificate 1 Once logged into MyCPD, you will be taken to the summary page for the current CPD year. 2 To access your record for a previous CPD year, select the year from the drop down menu. 3 Once the submission due date has passed, provided you have met the annual program requirements and have not been selected for audit, click on Print/Download certificate in the menu on the left hand side of the page. Your Certificate of Completion will open in a new window. If the due date has not yet passed, you may access your Statement of Participation or export an Excel report of your CPD record. 8 Add an activity 1 Once logged into MyCPD, you will be taken to the summary page for the current CPD year. 2 To start entering an activity for that year, click on Add activity. 3 Enter a custom title for your activity (optional). Page 6 of 15

9 4 Click on the drop down menu to select the activity type. If none of the options listed are suitable, select Other under the relevant category. 5 Enter any additional notes, e.g. location or topics covered (optional). 6 Upload supporting documentation by clicking Browse (optional). This documentation can be used to verify your participation in the activity in case of audit. 7 Record the number of hours spent next to the relevant specialty area or professional learning domain, or next to Generic for general medical activities. Note: Please enter hours as whole numbers. Page 7 of 15

10 8 Select the activity dates using one of the three options: Note: Credits will become recognised once the activity dates have passed. Single Activity: Select the activity start and end dates by clicking on the small calendar icons. Hours entered will be the total hours spent on the activity. Date Range recurring: Select the date range and activity frequency. Please make sure your start day matches your selection. For example, if you select Every Monday, please make sure your start date is a Monday. Hours entered will be for each individual recurrence. The total hours will be calculated on the summary page, and dates will be recorded as a single expandable entry. Multiple individual dates: Select the month using the dropdown menu, and the dates by clicking on the Calendar dates. Hours entered will be for each individual date. 11 9 Enter a reflective comment to receive one bonus credit, without annual limits (optional). 10 Please check all mandatory fields (marked with a red asterisk *) have been completed to ensure successful saving. Click Save Activity. The activity will now appear on the summary page. Page 9 of 15

12 Select specialty areas & learning domains 1 Click on Select specialty areas in the menu on the left hand side of the page. 2 Select the speciality areas and learning domains relevant to your scope of practice. 3 Once you have finished, click Save and Exit to Activities. When adding your CPD activities, you will now be able to assign hours to your selected specialty areas and learning domains to reflect the content of the activity. Page 10 of 15

13 Create a Professional Development Plan (PDP) 1 Click on View professional development plan in the menu on the left hand side of the page. 2 Enter a title for your PDP, e.g. read about pain management or upgrade knowledge in paediatric medicine. A PDP can be short term or long term, a specific task or a broad idea. 3 Set a reminder date to receive an alert about the PDP by clicking on the calendar icon. 4 Enter any notes (optional). 14 5 Please check all mandatory fields (marked with a red asterisk *) have been completed. Click Save PDP. The PDP will now appear in the Existing PDPs table. You may modify, postpone or delete your PDPs at any time by clicking on the title. 6 There are two ways to link a CPD activity with a PDP. OPTION 1: Create the PDP as outlined in steps 1 5. In the Existing PDPs table, click on the icon under Register Related Activity. You will be taken to the add activity page. Once you have entered and saved the activity, it will appear on the summary page, and in the table of existing PDPs. Summary page View professional development plan page Page 12 of 15

15 OPTION 2: Add an activity through the summary page for the relevant year. Once you have finished completing all the mandatory fields, click Save and link to PDP. You will then be directed to the Professional Development Plan page. Enter a PDP for the activity to be linked to by following steps 2 5. Click Save PDP to Activity. The activity will now appear as a registered related activity in the existing PDPs table. Page 13 of 15

16 FAQs How can I access my login details? To retrieve your account information, click here. When can I claim an exemption? You can claim an exemption when your personal circumstances affect your capacity to undertake the CPD program. Temporary exemptions are granted for one entire CPD year/cycle. Exemptions for more than a year have extra CPD requirements. Please refer to the MBA CPD Registration Standard for further information. To download the form for exemption from CPD, click here. New Zealand participants: Please apply directly to MCNZ for exemptions and then notify the College if exemption is granted. I participate in the CPD program of another medical college. What are my requirements? Fellows can elect to participate in the CPD program offered by an equivalent college as an alternative to participating in the RACP MyCPD program. To download the form for exemption from CPD, click here. New Zealand participants: For a list of recertification programs approved by MCNZ, please refer to the MCNZ 'Recertification and Continuing Professional Development' Booklet. If you are participating in one of these programs instead of the MyCPD program, please notify the CPD unit in writing. I am retired. Do I need to participate in MyCPD? Fellows who advise the CPD unit that they hold non practising registration or no longer require an Annual Practising Certificate are withdrawn from the MyCPD program. What is the difference between provisional and recognised credits? Provisional credits do not take into consideration the current date or category caps. Credits become recognised once the activity date has passed and are subject to category caps. Only recognised credits count towards the annual requirement. Are MyCPD submissions audited? Five per cent of participants will be randomly selected for audit each year. Those who have been selected will be required to show evidence for at least 100 credits claimed, and will be given two years exemption from reselection. For further information, click here. How do I obtain my Certificate of Completion? After the submission due date, 31 March of the following year, a certificate will be made available through MyCPD for those who have met the program requirements. For participants selected for random review, the certificate will be made available upon the successful outcome of a review. Can I make my submission by alternative means? The College recommends MyCPD online to all members as the best way to track CPD participation. Alternative methods of submitting CPD were previously only available in exceptional circumstances on application to the College. As of 31 March 2015, a fee applies to the processing of alternative paper based submissions by College staff. To download the form for alternative submissions, click here. Page 14 of 15
