3 Jump Start Overview School of Nursing offers ADN students the opportunity to take BSN courses while being enrolled at our partner Community Colleges We offer select RN-BSN courses during summer sessions specifically for ADN students who wish to get started on a BSN degree

4 Time Commitment Students are allowed to enroll in up to 2 courses per summer Jump Start session To be successful, students should plan to spend hours a week per each class

5 Courses and Format NURS 305 Professional Nursing (4 units) NURS 310 Nursing Research/Evidence Based Practice (3 units) NURS 340 Advanced Concepts I (2) (Pre/Co-requisite: NURS 305 &NURS 310; Co-requisite: NURS 340L) NURS 340L Advanced Concepts I Lab (1) (Co-requisite: NURS 340)

6 Courses and Format First-time Jump Start students can enroll in either NURS 305 or NURS 310, or both Jump Start students who have previously completed both NURS 305 and NURS 310 in prior summers are eligible to enroll in NURS 340 and NURS 340 L courses

7 Courses and Format All courses are offered in 2 formats: Face to face & online Courses are offered through Open University May 31st through August 5th, 2016 All students will be required to meet for an in person mandatory orientation the first day of the class: May 31, 2016 from 8 am-1pm

8 Eligibility Criteria 1. Completed at least 1 semester of an ADN program Spring 16 ADN graduates can participate only if they have already submitted a Fall 2016 CSUF & Nursing application 2. GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale We anticipate that the courses will be impacted. If we receive more applicants than we can accommodate, competitive GPA points will be used to rank applicants 3. Completed all the CSUF Nursing pre-requisites

9 Prerequisites Human Anatomy + Lab Human Physiology + Lab Microbiology + Lab Chemistry (intro, general, etc. is fine) Statistics (CSU B4 certified course or CSUF Nursing approved course)

10 Tuition and Fees OPEN UNIVERSITY FEES (subject to change) $366 per unit $25 consolidated course fee $4 Student ID Card fee Full payment will be due by Mid-May Specific date will be provided to selected participants upon acceptance

13 New Application Procedures 1. Students apply online on the website during open application period: March 1st to April 1 st 2. Students' home college advisor will receive an ADN Verification Form for each applicant Home advisor needs to fill out the form between March 1st and April 1 st 3. Students who are selected as a Jump Start participants will be notified with enrollment and payment instructions

20 Jump Start Participation Benefits Students best positioned for Jump Start: Student who have already completed the full CSU GE- Breadth Certification Students who have met all RN-BSN major pre-reqs Jump Start participants will be receive priority admission to RN-BSN program, contingent on: Submit a complete application during open cycles Grade Point Average (GPA )
