2 Reisebeschreibung Our EXTRA-SPECIAL" cruise starts in Lisbon and brings us over Andalusia, Gibraltar and Mallorca to Barcelona. Because of our varied route we can dance in as many ports as possible and in some very beautiful places. We have chosen the best time in the year to travel: mid-september, when pleasant temperatures can be expected on both the Atlantic and in the Mediterranean. "EXTRA-SPECIAL" is also a word we could use to describe our ship: the "Azamara Journey". We will View online at Page 2/9

3 be ten days aboard this little gem of a cruise ship. It offers a wonderful atmosphere and plenty of opportunities for relaxation. With its "all-inclusive services" on board, there are no additional costs for meals and drinks. You can feel at home the moment you step on board! Tango holidays at sea: since 2002 we have been offering Tango cruises? for fifteen years by now. This is for us a reason to celebrate; and therefore we have chosen this EXTRA-SPECIAL CRUISE as our anniversary cruise. We do have some surprises planned during this trip Our journey begins in the stunning city of Lisbon, often called the "Pearl of the Atlantic": magnificent palaces and monasteries of colonial splendor, picturesque alleyways and a dreamy charm is to be discovered in the winding old town. Lisbon is built on seven hills and so offers, especially from the castle of Sao Jorge, fantastic views of the river Tagus, which is also where our ship will take us as we set course towards the Mediterranean. Note: In Lisbon you can find a very active and friendly tango scene so it is worthwhile arriving a few days earlier. Our "Azamara Journey" brings us first to Cadiz in Andalusia. Here, we will offer an excursion to Seville, the capital of Andalusia. The Cathedral of Seville is definitely worth a visit, as is the complete old town with its colonial buildings, leafy gardens and tranquil squares. The Alcázar Palace or the Giralda Tower bear witness to the magnificent Arabic-medieval architecture, and the countless tapas bars invite you to sample their culinary delights. As we have excellent contacts to the tango scene of Seville, we plan to join a Milonga in Seville or Cadiz. Incidentally, our ship will remain in port until the late evening hours both in Cadiz, as well as in Gibraltar, our next harbor: that means we have plenty of time for sightseeing. A day at sea, then provides the necessary relaxation? sea view guaranteed! Now we reach Valencia, the third largest city in Spain: an exciting mix of traditional culture and modern life. We are staying here for two days! Of course Valencia has a superb tango scene, so a Milonga stop-over is part of our plan here! A walk through the winding cobbled streets, lined with impressive medieval buildings, will transport us back to times long gone. Next is a stroll through one of the largest markets in Europe; the Mercado Central really is a special experience. The remarkable part of town; "Artes y Biancas", which was designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava, can be easily explored by bike. By the way, Calatrava is also the architect of the famous bridge "Puente de Mujer" in Buenos Aires. For those who prefer a day of sunbathing: there are kilometers of wide sandy beaches, and one should definitely not miss the chance to try the famous Valencian paella in one of the beach restaurants... Yet more beaches with crystal clear waters await us in Mallorca! Again, our ship is in port well into the late evening hours, so we can explore the beautiful, mountainous hinterland of the island; the Serra Tramuntana at leisure? or just enjoy a day swimming in the Bay of Alcudia. The next morning we are already in Palamos, a small fishing port on the Costa Brava, which is world famous for its rugged coastline: enjoy the authentic nautical feel of this small town. We can expect more of the same in Port Vendres on the Cote Vermeille in the South of France. The city is surrounded by hills with terraced vineyards, where the famous wine Banyuls is produced, and not far from the charming town of Perpignan. So many picturesque places make it difficult to move on... The past is still omnipresent, as we meander along a pink marble pavement in the Place de la Loge; the old drapers market. Let's enjoy the southern French "Art-Vivre" and if time allows, we will meet with the local tango scene on Apero Tango. Our last port is Barcelona, Catalonia's capital. 4 metropolises of the world. Even if you only wanted to visit Gaudí's buildings, you would have to spend several days here. Art Nouveau, Gothic and modern architecture offer a unique blend that is worth discovering. Since Barcelona is our last port, we have to say farewell to our "home at sea". Enjoyment and relaxation are prerequisites on board the "Azamara Journey". 8 Tango Since we will visit so many beautiful ports during the week, we will focus on the Milongas ashore. To relax even more, there are no tango lessons planned during this cruise: we can just relax and enjoy the Milongas and our luxurious cruise ship. Dancing Tango and meeting Tango friends from all over the world makes this a very unique experience. We plan our Milongas mainly "ashore" together with the local Tango communities in Lisbon, Cadiz/Seville, Valencia, Palamos and Perpignan.
