4 THE LS2 STORY LS2 HELMETS - THE STORY SO FAR From humble beginnings in 1990 Arthur Liao began manufacturing scooter helmets in a small rural workshop; Arthur recognised the growing domestic demand for scooter and motorcycle helmets, purchasing larger factory and investing in modern equipment and manufacturing procedures. Arthur establishes MHR and expands to larger factory to accommodate the increased demand for his helmets, which have gained reputation of innovation and quality, MHR now enter the international market as a original equipment manufacturer, continued investment in developing their own carbon fibre and fibres composites, latest equipment, materials, production procedures and staff result in totally self sufficient manufacturing facility From design to development to testing, from raw materials to finished product under one roof. MHR now operate in a modern 330,000 sq.ft facility employing over 1000 staff, MHR is now one of the largest helmet manufactures in the world. During 2007, Arthur realises his dream to build his own personal helmet brand, a brand based on innovation, quality, safety at a price every rider can afford - LS2 is born, within five years LS2 has grown into a recognised global brand available in over 80 countries. For the future - LS2 will continue to develop new innovative products, all better than the past, one thing will remain quality, affordable helmets at prices you can afford. LS2 TIME LINE 1990 Mr Arthur Liao starts production in small premises Expands to larger factory suppling helmets to domestic market Enters global market under name of MHR as OEM manufacturer MHR Gains ISO9000 accreditation, purchases new factory, invests in new manufacturing and testing equipment, develops in house fibre composite material production, invests in new injection moulding technology Incorporates MHR with Jianmen Pengcheng Helmets (JPH) increases factory size, Factory is now fully self contained facility, development, testing and manufacturing from raw materials to finished product under one factory is now possible Arthur Liao s dream of his own person helmet is born, using the manufacturing system he developed LIAO SYSTEMS The name LS2 was born. Planning starts with European head office established in Barcelona Spain. First LS2 models shown at EICMA show Milan Italy. LS2 production and distribution begins throughout Europe LS2 invests in new distribution centres throughout Europe, LS2 now sold in over 80 countries LS2 expands into USA, building office and distribution centre in Chicago to service USA and Canada Continues to develop new manufacturing procedures and materials releases expanded range of helmets LS2 Monza Imports Appointed as Australian LS2 distributor. 4

5 ASSEMBLY OF AN LS2 HELMET HIGH TECHNOLGY STRUCTURE Each LS2 helmet, in fibreglass, composite or polycarbonate is composed of three main elements, the external shell, shock absorbing EPS liner and the numerous accessories such as comfort linings, method of retention, visors and ventilation. The three main methods of production are as follows: Polycarbonate injected in a mix of ABS utilising an exclusive process developed by our researchers named HPTT (High Pressure Thermoplastic Technology Resin). This high precision industrial process utilises moulds sculpted from blocks of metals of several 100 kilos. Composite fibres, combined with polymer resin which provide high abrasion resistance and are very diffi cult to penetrate. Carbon Fibre in multiple layers are also mixed with polymer resin. This procedure involves a process where the moulds must be able to resist temperatures in excess of 120ºC. CARBON FIBER VANGUARD TECHNOLOGY Carbon Fibre is a material used extensively in the aeronautical industry and of course in the highly competitive world of Formula 1 and Moto GP. It has incredible strength but extremely light. Four years of research and considerable investment has resulted in LS2 launching its first Carbon Fibre Helmet. IN HOUSE KNOWLEDGE Once a shell has been removed from its mould it is checked to make sure it meets our exacting standards by our technical experts. Several layers of paint later and the graphics are applied, once in place the helmet is lacquered with anti UV and the process gives a unique touch to each helmet PRECISION ASSEMBLY The final assembly of a helmet is then undertaken by a technician who follows a strict process for fitting of the EPS liner, retention strap and visor mechanism. And finally the comfort liner and user instructions. Each helmet then has a final quality check before being boxed ready for despatch. PERMANENT QUALITY CONTROL A certain number of our helmets are never sold as we batch test every model in our test laboratory. Each helmet is looked at in minute detail to ensure that quality and safety are paramount. We also verify that each model meets or exceeds the test standard required by its country of destination. This may be ECE, DOT,BSI, AS/NZS1698 or indeed Snell. Numerous tests are undertaken on the EPS and the external shell for shock absorbtion. We also test the fit as many testing houses now take this into account. For example SHARP TESTING in the UK. 5

Adjustable chin and dual forehead vents with aditional rear exhaust vents for increase ventilation for all conditions.
