2 Welcome To RemPods RemPods are the founders of this unique therapy tool, which are literally pop up reminiscence rooms, they work by turning any care space into a therapeutic and calming environment for residents. We currently supply Pods to care homes, day centres and NHS hospitals across the UK and EU. Our Pods have been proven by leading dementia specialists to improve the mental well-being for people with dementia, as well as building strong care bonds between staff and their residents. 20 RemPods Mini Cinema: Introducing our mini pop up cinema. Creating a fully working vintage cinema to fit any care space, especially for residents bedrooms or day-rooms. We wanted to create a space which enabled family and friends to share moments with their loved ones in their own room, creating a place for escapism, conversation and entertainment. Small and easily portable, simply pop up or down, easily stored away when not needed. Our mini cinema theme comes with a digital projector and DVD player, which enables residents to watch movies or even to reminisce with family photos and videos. 22 Client Feedback There is some research evidence to suggest that use of rempods may be equally as effective as some of the medication that we use so it does have a really important place. Dr Simon O Donovan, Clinical Director of Mental Health Services for Older People at Bangor University: I saw a man and his wife, who has dementia, sit together watching a film in one of the pods, and it prompted them to talk about past holiday and experiences they had shared. When I came back an hour later they were both still there, talking together it really looked like they were having a special time together in a calm, less-clinical environment. Emma Carter, specialist Occupational Therapist, Chichester Hospital I believe that reminiscence pods can be seen to improve services by reducing the use of anti-psychotics, improving outcomes for the individual all of which can contribute to cost savings in an already over stretched sector.
