Marathi Tamil Telugu Windows XP SP2 Kannada Punjabi Gujarati Bengali Malayalam Defining User-Interface Language The user interface language defaults automatically, based on the Initial Startup Language selected at the time of Tally.ERP 9 Installation, using the installer wizard. For example, if you have selected Hindi as Initial Startup Language, the Tally.ERP 9 interface displays in Hindi. However, Tally.ERP 9 allows you to configure the user interface language before or after the creation of Company. Presently, Tally.ERP 9 supports user interface in 9 Indian languages (Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi) and Hinglish (colloquial Hindi). Configure your language as given. 1. Click G: Language from the horizontal toolbar or press ALT + G 2. In Language Configuration screen, select the language from the List of Languages
3. The interface displays in the language selected The Gateway of Tally screen in Hindi displays as shown. Tally.ERP 9 automatically loads the relevant dictionary for the configured language and the interface (menus and prompts) is accordingly translated into the selected language. Note: The Name of the Company, Unit of Measure and Currency are not translated or transliterated, but displayed in the language in which they are created.
Enabling Multi-Lingual Support Go to Gateway of Tally > F12:Configure > General Show tables with Masters only in Current Language: If this option is set to Yes, Tally.ERP 9 displays the Pre-defined and User defined Masters in the Language selected. If this option is set to No, Tally.ERP 9 displays the Pre-defined and User defined Masters in English and in the selected Language, along with Aliases created in other languages, if any. Note: All other options on the screen are explained in F12:Configuration.
Creating a Company in any language Create your company in any language. The Company Creation screen, if Hindi is selected as your language, displays as shown. Note: The Name of the Company, Unit of Measure and Currency are not translated or transliterated, but displayed in the language in which they are created. Keyboard (Language) Configurations in Tally.ERP 9 Tally.ERP 9 provides the exceptional option of choosing between multiple keyboards. Tally s Phonetic Keyboard Operating System Keyboard
Using Tally's Phonetic Keyboard Tally s Phonetic keyboard is useful for those who speak the language but do not know how to type the same using the keyboard. This keyboard will allow you to spell the term phonetically based on how it sounds and Tally.ERP 9 will display the data in the language selected after transliteration. The keyboard layout is the same as that of the English characters, which makes it user friendly and comfortable. With a phonetically enabled keyboard, you can enter the information or data in any Indian language to generate bills, invoices and other reports. A few examples using Tally s Phonetic Keyboard are given below: Word in English Purchase Sales Item Inventory Conveyance Salary Postage & Telegram Commission Discount Debtors Creditors Capital Ledger Ramjilal Cash Shyamlal Godown Branch Loan Keys for Phonetic Representation of Indic Languages parachej sels AiiTam inventrii Kanveyns selarii postej end Teligram kmiishiin DiskaunT DeTaras krediitars kaipital lejar ramajiilal kaish shyamalal godaun braanch lon

Vowel Signs Symbols Using Operating System Keyboard The Operating System Keyboard is used by those who know to read and write in the language of their choice. Entering data in Tally.ERP 9 using the Operating System Keyboard is different from using the phonetic keyboard as the keyboard layout differs. To configure the Keyboard for an Operating System Keyboard, 1. Click K: Keyboard from the horizontal toolbar or press ALT + K 2. In Keyboard Configuration screen, select Hindi Traditional (System) from the List of Languages
Note: The Languages displayed in the List of Languages for Keyboard Configuration depends upon Operating System. Using On-Screen Keyboard in Tally.ERP 9 The On-Screen keyboard is a virtual keyboard which displays on the computer screen. Using the On- Screen keyboard will familiarise you with the Operating System keyboard s layout. Configuring On-Screen Keyboard 1. Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Accessibility 2. Select Onscreen Keyboard 3. The On-Screen Keyboard will appear as shown below.
4. Use Alt + Shift to configure the language of choice. For example, if you wish to enter data in Hindi, select Hindi using Alt + Shift or select the same from the Language bar as shown. 5. The On-Screen Keyboard will appear in Hindi as shown, as you place the cursor on it. Configuring Masters in F12
Go to Gateway of Tally> F12: Configure> Accts/Inv Info. Allow Language ALIASES along with Names This option has a significant value when creating masters like Ledgers and Stock Items, as it enables you to enter aliases in Indic languages along with the Name, as well as the User Interface Language. For example, create a Stock Item (Cement) in Hindi and Name it in different languages with Aliases. The screen displays as shown. Masters created with more than one Indic language as Name Masters created in more than one Indic language, when viewed in a Report or Master will display based on the Language Precedence Order allotted in Tally.ERP 9. The default Language Precedence order is English, Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Marathi.
For example say you have created the Master in Hindi, Kannada and Gujarati. You can view it in any of the three languages, but if you choose to view it in a Report or Master in any other language, then the transliteration of the Name will appear in Hindi. This is on account of the fact that Hindi appears before Kannada and Gujarati in the Language Precedence. Creating, Displaying and Printing in Multiple Language Consider a scenario where a firm based in Maharashtra creates a Sales Invoice in Hindi on and issues the same Sales Invoice in Kannada to his customer (e.g. Royal Group), which is based in Karnataka. The Sales Voucher entered in Hindi appears as shown. To print the Sales Invoice in Hindi. 1. Press Alt+P to print the voucher. 2. Press Alt+L to get the List of Languages in the Print Language Configuration screen.
3. Select Hindi from the List of Languages. 4. Accept to print the voucher. Preview of Sales Invoice in Hindi will be as shown. Note: You can view the data in any of the Indic languages in Tally.ERP 9, provided the Masters are made in any one of the Indic languages. Similarly, to view a Master in English, it must be created in English also apart from the Indic languages.
To preview the Sales Invoice in Kannada: Go to Gateway of Tally > Display > Daybook > Select the Sales invoice dated from the list. 1. Press Alt + P to print the voucher. 2. Press Alt + L to get the List of Languages in the Print Language Configuration screen. 3. Select Kannada from the List of Languages. 4. Accept to print the voucher. The Sales invoice Print Preview in Kannada displays as shown.
View the Stock Summary of the Stock Items sold to Royal Group in Karnataka, in Kannada. The Stock Summary screen displays as shown. To Manually Setup Language Support
Windows needs to be manually configured for the language that you want to use. All versions of Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003 operating systems have built-in support for Indic languages. However, if you have not selected Language Support at the time of installation, you will not be able to use the multilingual feature in Tally.ERP Click Control Panel from the Start menu or click on My Computer 2. Double-click the icon Regional and Language Options 3. In the Regional and Language Options window, select Languages tab 4. 37 7. Select the language from the Input language drop-down list. Select Hindi as an example. 8. Select Hindi Traditional from the Keyboard layout/ime drop-down list and click OK 9. Click Apply and OK in Text Services and Input Languages window
10. Click Apply and OK in Regional and Language Options window 11. Change Regional Options dialog box is displayed with a prompt to Restart the computer for the changes to take effect 12. Click Yes to restart Windows has now been configured to enter text in Hindi. Introduction to Arabic Multi-lingual capability of Tally.ERP 9 is enhanced to support bidirectional or bidi languages. Bidirectional languages are written from the Right to Left, in which the writing begins on the right and ends at the left. This is different from left to right direction used by most languages in the world. The most popular languages that are written or read from right to left are Arabic, Urdu, Pasto, Persian and Hebrew. Tally extends the multi-lingual support exclusively to Arab World by providing Tally.ERP 9 in Arabic. This enhancement enables numerous users from the Middle East to work on Tally.ERP 9 using their native Arabic language. Arab users can create/alter Masters, Transactions and view Reports only in Arabic. Currency formats of the following countries across Middle East are also supported. Algeria Bahrain Comoros Djibouti Egypt Iraq Jordan Kuwait Lebanon Libya
Mauritania Morocco Oman Qatar Philippines Saudi Arabia Somali Sudan Syria Tunisia UAE While retaining the existing concurrent multi-lingual feature intact. Tally.ERP 9 is completely bidirectional by providing support for languages written from left to right and right to left. This indicates that the Ledger/Group/Item names can contain words from the Left to Right and Right to Left languages respectively. Language Support The following operating system provide support for the Arabic Language. Windows 7/Vista/XP/2000 Server/ 2003 Server/2008 Server.
