5 Foundation Established Sept OpenStack Mission: To produce the ubiquitous open source cloud computing platform that will meet the needs of public and private cloud providers regardless of size, by being simple to implement and massively scalable. 6

10 Project Principles Open Source Open development model 13 All code is freely available Licensed under the Apache 2.0 License Open design process Blueprints Design Summit every six months to gather requirements and write specifications for next release Open community

11 Developer Community Led by Tech Committee Leads the software direction and development for openstack. Over 300,000 lines of python code Each project is lead by a PTL Releases are on a 6 month schedule The start of a cycle It usually lasts 4 weeks, with the Design Summit on the third week. Focus on what we want to do for the next release We discuss it with our peers to get their feedback and comments, and create blueprints 14 Describes how we want to do it. PTLs may use Launchpad blueprints to track the Planning stage, and in particular their "Design" field. Blueprints tracked by Release Management throughout the cycle and targeted to a specific milestone (to give the various stakeholders an idea on when the feature will land).
