7 Our French Administrator M. Sébastien Fournier (AP) Liaison of the French Immersion Program In , we have nearly 1500 students which over 790 are in French Immersion including 280 new grade 10 FI students.

8 French Immersion Certificate CBE Certificat de compétences en immersion française Certificate of Achievement in French Immersion Total = 45 credits 15 crédits en French Language Arts 15 crédits en Études sociales 15 crédits en Mathématiques Unless a course is not offered in French like Math 10-3.

9 French Immersion Certificate The Application process begin in March of the graduation year. Any student taking online FI courses (ADLC), must be register to the online FI diploma exam by May 1 st of the graduation year. A FI Aberhart has to take at least 2 Aberhart FI courses a year to be considerer a Aberhart FI student.

10 French Immersion Certificate Certificate with 45 credits ( ) Certificate with 50 credits includes Math 31F. Math 31F cannot be substituted for any 30 level FI courses. 18 What can I do to help as a parent? Watch the news, magazines, movies, music, singing in French. Invest in French learning tools (Antidote). Encourage your child to participate in ABE s Immersion en action activities. Use social media in French Make sure they have at least one French class each semester. Encourage an exchange, home-stay exchange, summer programs etc

20 French Immersion Program Expectations Students who are enrolled in the French Immersion program at Aberhart are expected to make the commitment to remain in the program for their three years in high school. Our Learning Tool helps student to identify the challenges and encourage successes. Students enrol in FI must finish the school year in FI and complete the Learning Tool first. Students who choose to leave French Immersion will be asked to follow the Aberhart French Immersion Program withdrawal process and may be directed to their designated English program school for the next school year.
