15 UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA 2016 PAYING FOR YOUR STUDIES THROUGH GOVERNMENT FINANCIAL AID Many students rely on government financial aid to pay for their studies. Indeed, receiving government financial aid is an eligibility criterion for some bursaries. Your loans are interest-free and don t have to be repaid as long as you are a full-time student in an approved postsecondary program. Depending on your province or territory of residence, you may be eligible for government student loans and bursaries. Visit the website for the financial aid program of your province or territory of residence to find out what s available to you. If you re from Ontario, begin by visiting the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) website for more information on financial aid. If you re from Quebec, your level of financial aid will be adjusted based on the higher Ontario tuition fees. Therefore, you may receive a higher amount on your loan certificate. If you re from another province or territory, check out the details of its financial aid program. You may qualify for assistance even if you move to Ontario to study. 30% OFF ONTARIO TUITION Are you an Ontario resident? You could be eligible for the 30% Off Ontario Tuition grant, worth $1,830 for the academic year! As an Ontario resident, you re automatically considered for this grant when you apply for OSAP. You can still apply for this grant even if you choose not to apply for government assistance. Visit the OSAP website for more details. APPLY EARLY! To increase your chances of receiving your funding in time for the start of the school year apply for government financial aid as soon as possible. uottawa.ca/financial-aid-awards 13
