4 C. Sound: testing per ASTM E with ¾ insulating glass. (Manufacturer to provide test results on request). D. Forced Entry Resistance: Shall meet the requirements for AAMA and ASTM F588 Load Identification Level Submittals A. Shop Drawings: The window manufacturer shall submit elevations, floor plans or window location chart; typical window elevations; full size details of composite members, hardware and components not in manufacturer s data; glazing details for factory-glazed units, and complete anchorage and installation details for the architect s approval. B. Product data: manufacturer s specifications, test reports from an AAMA-accredited laboratory, and standard details verifying conformance with specifications. C. Samples: one sample of specified finish for aluminum and other samples as requested by the architect Quality Assurance A. Submit for pre-bid qualification approval ten days prior to the bid opening: 1. One sample window representing the window being bid with color being the only exception. 2. Valid test reports from an AAMAaccredited laboratory-confirming conformance to Paragraph 1.07 test results. B. Submit bids based only on pre-qualified equal as confirmed in a pre-bid written addendum. C. Furnish written documentation that the windows for the project conform to AAMA/ NWWDA 101/I.S D. Furnish visible, permanent IGCC certification labels for the CBA rating level on double insulating glass units. E. Manufacturer s warranties 1. Windows: warrant for one year against defects in material or workmanship under normal use. 2. Organic finish conforming to AAMA : upon review and approval by paint supplier of color chosen by architect, warrant for two years against chipping, peeling cracking, blistering, fading or chalking. 3. Double insulating glass units: warrant seal for ten years against visual obstruction resulting from film formation or moisture collection between the internal glass surfaces, excluding that caused by breakage or abuse Delivery, Storage and Handling A. Handle windows and accessories in accordance with AAMA CW-10 B. Protect the windows from the elements, construction activities and other hazards until project completion. II. PRODUCTS: 2.01 Acceptable Window Manufacturers A. Windows shall be the M85 Series as manufactured by Wojan Window and Door Corporation, Charlevoix, Michigan. The M85 Series is a (single hung consisting of an operable lower sash and a fixed upper lite/double hung consisting of operable upper and lower sash/single-vent horizontal sliding with one operable and one fixed sash/end vent with two operable sash and one fixed center lite/center vent with one operable center sash and two fixed end lites/fixed picture) with thermally improved frame and sash. The specifications and materials for the M85 Series are as follows: 2.02 Materials A. Aluminum Windows and Components 1. Aluminum shall be of proper alloy for commercial window construction. All extruded sections shall be of 6063-T5 aluminum alloy. 2. Main frame and sash members shall be a nominal thickness as required by AAMA/ NWWDA 101/I.S Mainframe shall be in depth. B. Hardware 1. Locks shall consist of a cam latch at the interlocking meeting rail. 2. Balances (single and double hung): Sash will be balanced by block-and-tackle type sash balances attached to the main frame by pivot sash shoes of nylon. Balances shall hold the sash stationary in any position along the full range of sash travel. Balances shall meet the requirements of AAMA Rollers (horizontal sliding): Operable sash will be supported by two steel ball-bearing rollers mounted in each of two polycarbonate wheel housings per sash. C. Thermal Break 1. Main frames and sash members are to be extruded aluminum with a structural thermal barrier of high-density low thermal conductivity polyurethane, poured and debridged. D. Weatherstripping 1. Shall be 250 polypile with mylar fins conforming to AAMA 701.2, Specification for pile weatherstrip. Weatherstripping shall

5 be doubled at all points of contact of the sash and main frames and at the interlocking meeting rail. E. Screens 1. Screen frame shall be of hollow aluminum. Finish shall match the main frames and sash. 2. Insect screening shall be fiberglass or aluminum wire secured with a vinyl spline. 3. Screens for single-hung and horizontal sliding windows shall be half length (operable sash only). Screens for double-hung windows shall be full length. B. Operable sash 1. Glass in the operable sash shall be factory glazed with a marine (wrap-around) reusable vinyl glazing channel. 2. The operable sash shall be equipped for side take-out (hung units) or vertical takeout (sliding units) for cleaning and is removable from the inside for ease of maintenance. 3. Tint: clear or tinted (specify color) 4. Type: annealed, tempered or laminated C. Fixed sash 1. The fixed lite shall be factory glazed with a marine (wrap-around) reusable vinyl glazing channel Fabrication A. General 2. Tint: clear or tinted (specify color) 1. Fabricate and shop assemble frame and 3. Type: annealed, tempered or laminated sash members into complete windows under responsibility of one manufacturer. 4. Coating: none/pyrolytic low E on #3 surface. 2. No bolts, screws or fastenings to bridge thermal barriers or impair independent frame movement. 3. Fabricate to allow for thermal movement of materials when subjected to a temperature differential from 30 degrees F to +180degrees F. B. Frame: Mainframe shall be a mechanically joined construction. Corner joints should be seam sealed with a quality grade of sealant meeting the requirements of AAMA The sash shall be assembled with two screws at each corner. All screws at joints of sash and mainframe shall be secured into integral screw ports. C. Sash: tubular horizontal sash rails coped and fastened to vertical sash stiles with a telescopic-design joint secured with one stainless steel screw per sash corner; corners factorysealed with sealant conforming to AAMA D. Sash design: Hung windows: Lift rail on bottom sash interior; mechanical meeting rail interlock; weep holes for drainage. Sliding windows: Continuous extruded pull rail on operable sash interior; mechanical meeting rail interlock; weep holes for drainage D. Performance 1. Seal durability: conformance to ASTM E ; visible permanent IGCC certification label for CBA rating level. 2. Annealed glass lites: conformance to ASTM C Tempered glass lites: conformance to ASTM C Finish A. Shall be a factory electro-statically applied and baked acrylic enamel finish applied to clean extrusions free from serious visible surface blemishes, and which have been subjected to a pretreatment including a zinc chromate conversion coating. B. Coatings shall meet the requirements of AAMA for Pigmented Organic Coating on Extruded Aluminum, and AAMA for Clear Anodic Finishes for Architectural Aluminum. C. Color: Standard colors available are Bronze, White, Sand-Beige, Hartford Green, and Clear Anodized. D. Custom colors and finishes conforming to AAMA 603.8, 605.2, and are available in truckload quantities Glass and Glazing Materials A. Construction 1. Insulating glass units shall be ¾ overall thickness (1 for fixed windows) with two panes of SS, DS, or 3/16 glass, separated by an air space for insulation. Air space: aluminum spacer with corner keys and desiccant. Perimeter sealant: polyurethane. 2. All insulating glass units shall meet the requirements of the ASTM E 774 specification, Class A.

6 III. EXECUTION 3.01 Examination A. Verify that openings are within tolerance, plumb, level, clean, and provide a solid anchoring surface, and are in accordance with approved shop drawings. B. Correct defective openings as required before installation Installation A. Install windows using only skilled mechanics with experience in this trade, in accordance with manufacturer s recommendations and approved shop drawings. B. Provide required support and securely fasten frames. Units shall be installed plumb, level and square without twist or bow. C. Provide thermal isolation where components penetrate or disrupt building insulation. Pack fibrous insulation in shim spaces at assembly perimeter to maintain continuity of the thermal barrier. D. A non-hardening sealant compatible with aluminum shall be provided by the installer and applied in sufficient quantity at joints and intersections to provide a weathertight seal between the window and surrounding construction. Wipe off excess and leave exposed sealant surfaces clean and smooth. E. Remove and legally dispose of existing windows and other materials generated by the installation of the new windows Field Testing A. Conduct on-site tests of installed units in conformance with AAMA for air and water infiltration with representatives from the window manufacturer, contractor and owner or architect present. B. Select test units as directed by the owner s or architect s representative. C. Conduct tests with an AAMA-accredited laboratory provided by the owner, architect or contractor Adjusting and Cleaning A. Adjust frames, sash and hardware after installation, as necessary, to ensure smooth and watertight operation. B. Leave windows clean and free of labels and dirt.

7 M-85 Sash and Balance Removal Locate sash balance clips in upper part of each jamb. Snap out each clip from bottom as shown at right. Normal Position Balance Removal Position Raise sash to uppermost position (above extended clips). Carefully supporting sash weight (for large sash, this could require two people), slide sash to left and pull inward to remove from frame. Push balance down and tilt outward at the top. Slowly release spring tension (Note: Balance is under strong spring tension; remove carefully to avoid possible personal injury or balance damage). Unhook balance from jamb. Horizontal Sliding Windows: Lift sash up and pull out from bottom.
