Registration form needs to filled up and send to the address: chemicalworkshop by 5 th September, National Workshop on Paradigm Shift in Chemical Engineering Funded by TEQIP-II R & D ABOUT THE WORKSHOP Supported by TEQIP II R & D Paradigm is a set of assumptions, concepts, values, and practices that constitutes a way of viewing reality for the community that shares them, especially in an intellectual discipline. The evolution of Chemical Engineering is guided by its four main paradigms: unit operations, transport phenomena, product engineering and sustainable Chemical Engineering. Few decades ago, the field was still covered by applied chemistry and to a certain extent mechanical engineering. But during this period, probably one of the quickest changes took place in the field of applied science has been the growth of Chemical Engineering. Recent tendency seems to be broadening of the fields by fusion of engineering field with chemical sciences in conjunction with biological sciences and advanced materials. The modern discipline of Chemical Engineering encompasses much more than just process engineering. Chemical engineers are now engaged in the development and production of a diverse range of products, as well as in commodity and specialty chemicals. These products include high performance materials needed for aerospace, automotive, biomedical, electronic, environmental, and space and military applications. Therefore, research in the

2 Chemical Engineering field is now diversified into synthesis and drug designing, nanotechnology, Colloid chemistry & surface science, molecular modeling, catalysis & reaction engineering, computational fluid dynamics, improved food processing technology, advanced material characterization, supercritical fluid extraction, chemical process optimization, clean & green energy harvesting, bimolecular engineering, development of polymers & complex fluids, cellular engineering and so on. These new fields of research give light towards a next paradigm shift in the Chemical Engineering domain which has paramount importance in the future evolution of Chemical Engineering. Objective of the workshop is to address the recent research & development activities in various aspects which will lead us towards paradigm shift in the Chemical Engineering field. The workshop will provide platform to the participants to gain an insight of challenges and possible guidelines for respective designing and development of various product. For that reason, renowned Indian Researchers & scientists are invited in this workshop to discuss the nature of paradigm shift. AIM OF THE WORKSHOP The workshop will provide platform to the participants from Academia, Researchers, future Professionals, future practicing engineers, future Entrepreneurs to gain an insight of challenges and approach towards their possible way out. The Department will be able to help their students to understand the applications of various fields of Chemical Engineering and its experimental aspects. The faculty members of the Department will further realize how the concept of Chemical Engineering and related research work helps to improve their individual teaching in class and research in broader sense. Also the members of the Department will gather sufficient knowledge in the break-through area of research in Chemical Engineering domain. 1
