4 Specializations BIOENGINEERING Become an expert in bioengineering (biomedical engineering) and learn to use engineering principles to advance population health. Students will explore engineering at the physiological, cellular and molecular levels to build a functional expertise that can be applied in a multitude of health-related settings. ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING (POWER SYSTEMS) Fortify your background in electrical engineering with a deep dive into the world of power systems. This specialization addresses the systems, processes and technology that power our world, including power electronics, optimization techniques and smart grid technology. ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING SYSTEMS (WATER) Explore the science and engineering principles that are essential to providing clean water and improving the natural environment. This specialization incorporates elements of water treatment and chemistry, covering topics such as water systems fundamentals and physical and chemical separation. MATERIALS AT THE NANOSCALE Discover the practices, processes and applications that make up the complex world of nanotechnology. Students will examine the latest research and trends pertaining to the design, synthesis and processing of nanostructured materials, while exploring topics such as crystal structure and microelectromechanical systems. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING Develop your expertise in the design, production and operation of machinery and tools. Mechanical engineering students will explore elements of physics and material science, focusing on relevant topics such as sustainable design, control systems and the practical use of gaseous plasmas.
