4 Monday, 26 th October 2015 Day 1 Arrive Chennai Upon arrival in Chennai you will be escorted to the hotel and our representative will assist with your check-in. Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu is sited on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. It has played a very crucial role in the traditional, historical and academic growth of the country, representing the different elements of the highest variety of the Dravidian civilization. Today, Chennai, the capital city is the 4th largest city of India and is also the leading commercial centre of South India. The credit of the booming economy of the city goes to the leading industries including automobile, software services, petrochemicals, financial services, textiles and hardware manufacturing. Also, Chennai, being an important metropolitan city is very well-connected to all the major cities of India as well as with the countries overseas. And, it is also considered as the cultural hub of South India, famous for its affluent heritage in classical dance, music, architecture, sculpture, crafts, etc. Proceed on a tour of Chennai, viewing the city s characteristic and well preserved British architectural heritage, the Government Museum & Art Gallery (closed Fridays/holidays) for the world s best collection of Chola bronzes and the lively Kapaleeswara Temple at Mylapore, ending the day with a walk through the locality. 5 Tuesday, 27 th October 2015 Day 2 Chennai / Kanchipuram / Mahabalipuram After breakfast you will be escorted to Mahabalipuram via Kanchipuram. You will first have a short tour of Kanchipuram, the city of a thousand temples. Kancheepuram is also popular for its renowned crafted world famous silk sarees, a traditional home industry. It is also known for its culture and civilization and is easily accessible from the state capital Chennai. Mahabalipuram lies on the Coromandel Coast, which faces the Bay of Bengal. This group of sanctuaries, founded by the Pallava kings, was carved out of rock along the Coromandel coast in the 7th and 8th centuries. It is known especially for its rathas (temples in the form of chariots), mandapas (cave sanctuaries), giant open-air reliefs such as the famous 'Descent of the Ganges', and the temple of Rivage, with thousands of sculptures to the glory of Shiva. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Mahabalipuram 5

6 Wednesday, 28 th October 2015 Day 3 Mahabalipuram After breakfast proceed to Mahabalipuram Beach to see the temples. You can spend the rest of the day at leisure or at the beach. There will be various ongoing activities. Overnight in Mahabalipuram Thursday, 29 th October 2015 Day 4 Mahabalipuram / Chennai You will be escorted back to Chennai where you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home. ~~ END OF TRIP ~~ 6
