7 Unit Incentives UNIT COMMISSION - Units will receive 25% base commission on all sales. BONUS COMMISSION - Units will receive an extra 6% (31% total) for doing all three of the following: 1) Attending Popcorn Kickoff 2) Increasing traditional popcorn sales over last year by $1 or selling a minimum of $10,000 in retail product (Unit sales total includes traditional sale only). 3) Place your orders by the due dates and make final payment in full by December 10 th to the Illowa Council Service Center, 4412 N Brady St, Davenport, IA CASH-ONLY OPTION - Units may elect to choose Cash-Only and receive an additional 4% commission in lieu of prizes. This option applies to each and every Scout in the unit. Scouts are still eligible to receive the $500 Bonus Blitz Prize and will receive the sale patch for participation. All sales will still count toward the scholarship program. Selling Methods TAKE ORDER SALE - Scouting families receive order forms. Scouts go door-to-door and take orders from family, friends and co-workers. The popcorn arrives in November, and Scouts then deliver and collect the money. SHOW and DELIVER SALE - Scouting units order popcorn in September and set up locations where customers purchase the products directly or Scouts go door-to-door taking orders for product and then deliver immediately from their inventory. This method eliminates the follow-up trip. UNIT RETAIL STORE BOOTH SALES - Scouts, as a group, sell product in front of retail stores, churches, etc. This is one of the best ways to Show and Deliver. ONLINE SALES - Scouts can go to Trails-End.com and create an account to sell product online to friends and family members who live far away. Online sales will count toward Scout sales totals and prizes during the sales period. 7

12 Sample Popcorn Scripts Modify scripts to match your unit or Scout s goals and your Scout s personality. Teach the SIMPLE Method Smile Introduce Yourself Mention Your Sales Goal Present Your Products Leave Your Scout Card Express Your Thanks When teaching scouts try The Good, the Bad and the Ugly approach. After each version, have the Scouts tell you what you did wrong and then fix it. UGLY: shirt untucked, hat on backwards, speak softly, no eye contact, impolite, a really ugly sale BAD: fix the ugly things above, but stammer, ramble on, do things out of order, etc. It s not Ugly but it sure isn t good. GOOD: This is how you want your Scouts to do it. Short and sweet, close the deal. Simple and short is better: i) Introduction, ii) Why you are selling it, iii) What you are selling, iv) Ask the customer to take action, v) Close Sample Door-to-Door Script Hi. My name is. (first name only) I m a Cub/Boy Scout with Pack/Troop. We re raising money to. (trip, event, purchase, etc.) You can support us by buying some of our delicious popcorn. (hand customer Take Order form and a pen) Will you help me? Sample Show-and-Deliver Script Hi. My name is. (first name only) I m a Cub/Boy Scout with Pack/Troop. We re selling popcorn to raise money for our Pack/Troop to. I happen to have these items with me today (hand customer the Take Order form) or you can get any other item and I will deliver it.
