2 2 Designs for the Decorative Artist By Peggy Stogdill, MDA Kern Rd., Mishawaka, IN Phone: Fax: About the instructional packets in this catalog: All paintings are done in traditional oils (except for fabric paintings). Most of the oil designs are painted using a limited palette, usually Winsor & Newton Artists Oils. The fabric-painted designs utilize a semi-transparent technique where the white or offwhite color of the fabric forms the light and highlight areas of objects. The paint used in packets written prior to mid-2001 is DEKA Permanent Fabric Paint, a water-based, dye-type product. Sadly, DEKA paints are no longer available in the U.S. These older packets, originally written for DEKA, now contain a conversion chart with suggested conversions from DEKA to DecoArt SoSoft Fabric Acrylics. Newer packets are written for DecoArt SoSoft Fabric Acrylics. Packets contain: Thorough written instructions and line drawing(s). Supply lists, including ordering information for the painting surface (though availability may change without notice!) Line drawings may be resized on a copy machine, or by other means, to fit an alternate surface. 4 x6 color photos(s). Most newer oil packets include a color swatch photo or printed color chart of the basic mixes used in the painting. Instructions normally include detailed diagrams for value placement. Some packets contain full-color illustrations throughout the text. Packets are generally listed in this catalog beginning with most recent releases. When a skill level is suggested, it is simply a guide to aid in choosing a design. For example, Morning Glories is designated Intermediate Level. For purposes of this catalog, that would refer to an Intermediate OIL painter one who is fairly proficient with the medium and the various techniques associated with it. HOWEVER, it could be just as suitable for the intermediate level painter in acrylics or Genesis who has an understanding of color conversion from oils to the alternate medium, as well as any different techniques that might be required when using the alternate medium. Some of the designs date back to the early 90 s, so specific supplies listed are often no longer available. Prices and availability of all items in this catalog, subject to change without notice. Prices in this catalog replace those in all previous editions.

The designs are versatile and, of course, could be painted on alternate surfaces.
