1 Insights wk 17 With Mother s Day around the corner we are working hard to source the best available flowers to fulfill the needs of our customers. It s not only an important holiday, but it s also the time of the year when the season is about to change. The regular spring products slowly disappear and Dutch grown summer flowers are coming to the market. Some products are a bit behind schedule due to the cold weather, but overall we will be able to offer you a wide range of good quality products to surprise mother with some nice flowers. Take a look at our webshop and be surprised of the diversity of flowers we have available! With our worldwide network we are able to source any type of flower, so don t hesitate to contact your sales rep if in need for special holiday products. Enjoy your week! Rob Ammerlaan, Procurement Holex Flower B.V. FLOWER of the week FORECAST wk 17 Mother s Day is one of the last big flower holidays of the first half. A holiday where all flowers sell well. The demand for Lilies is also doing well. Pink and light pink Orientals are popular, especially the Sorbonne variety. This is a beautiful pink Oriental with a slightly convex button. But the big question is: will they be available? Because the Dutch growers are switching exactly at this time of the year from Southern Hemisphere bulbs to fresh bulbs. The Southern Hemisphere bulbs are used in the winter. The fresh bulbs are often somewhat smaller in size, and have more 2 + and 3 + Lilies out. I have contacted a number of growers to hear if they are able to supply and their responses were positive. Let s just hope enough Sorbonnes are for sale! by Rob de Groot ROSA SPRAY Spray Roses generally have smaller flowers than traditional Roses and most have between 5 and 10 buds per stem. They are available in all kinds of colors. In recent years more and more bicolor varieties were introduced to the market. Very beautiful and distinctive! Colors Yearround by Jeff Akerboom Novelty! 2 wk 17 Insights From Holland with love Mother s Day is THE day to surprise mom with some lovely flowers. In this article five ideas for the upcoming Mother s Day. Of course all these products are available at Holex Flower. Be inspired! Germini Kimsey Even a simple Germini can be brightened up by using a few pluggable pearls. Ranunculus Ponpon pink The large Ponpon variety of Ranunculus is a jewel on itself... But with a finishing touch using some pearls Mum will really love it.
3 wk 17Insights Hydrangea Verena Pink Ornithogalum Thyrsoides Viburnum Roseum Philodendron leaves Be original and make some flowercakes, instead of baking them. Good for dieting! ;-) Rosa Avalanche Rosa Sweet Avalanche Rosa Times Square The three classic Rose varieties that will always make Mum happy. Calla Ventura Ranunculus Light Pink Ever tried this? Gently cut out the stamen of the Calla and put the Ranunculus in.
4 wk 17Insights TRENDING PRODUCT PEONY SARAH BERNHARDT Sarah Bernhardt is a beautiful pink Peony that has a large full bud. This Peony is always available in large volumes and is a very popular product for Mother s Day. The season begins with Peonies from Israel, France and Italy, followed by Dutch Peonies from the greenhouse. From the end of May the Dutch peonies come of the field. Color Pink Available lenghts cm February - July by Bart van der Zwet GROWER IN THE SPOTLIGHT: J. Valstar Peony Sarah Bernhardt BRASSICA We visit nursery J. Valstar and walk around the greenhouse with the eponymous owner. Jan Valstar grows different varieties Snapdragon and Kale. The Snapdragon is grown in red, pink and white. The Kale grown by Valstar has a nice hard color and a rich heart. The Kale is processed in various lengths between cm. The greenhouse While walking through the greenhouse we see beds filled with beautiful plants. The Snapdragon is beautiful in color and the beds are looking very evenly. The first Kale will be cut off the plants in the last weekend of April. This is the variety Kale White Crane. White Crane will be available at Holex Flower from week 18 and will remain available through week 32. About Kale Kale, or Brassica oleracea, is a solid cut flower, which has a long vase life when you regularly change the water in the vase and provide the water with a few drops of chlorine. Kale is a cabbage species (like cauliflower and broccoli), but is not edible. You can use Kale only as an ornamental product. About Snapdragon Antirrhinum is a genus of plants commonly known as Snapdragon or Dragon Flower, from the flowers fancied resemblance to the face of a dragon that opens and closes its mouth when laterally squeezed. They are native to rocky areas of Europe, USA and North Africa. Name J. Valstar City/Country Poederoijen, NL Products Kale, Snapdragon Colors Available lenghts by Marc Eveleens
