1 Polycom University RealPresence Platform: Design, Configuration and Troubleshooting: Level 3 - RPPDAT301 Course Description This course provides the knowledge and skills to design, configure and perform troubleshooting for a large-scale RealPresence Platform environment. Polycom training provides a progressive learning path with courses starting at level one and progressing to level three. This course is categorised as a Level 3 course and assumes Level 2 knowledge. It provides in-depth understanding of Polycom solutions in a real-world environment. Course Goals On completion of the training students will be able to: Design, configure, and deploy a large enterprise customer solution integrating RMX, Resource Manager, DMA and RealPresence endpoints deployed in a Microsoft Active Directory environment Design, configure, and deploy advanced features of the RealPresence Platform Explain the benefits of deploying RealPresence Resource Manager for large enterprise solutions and multi-tenancy Explain the flow of communication between the components of a RealPresence Platform solution Use appropriate techniques to troubleshoot issues for larger scale implementations of endpoints, RMX, Resource Manager and DMA Target Audience All Sales and Support Engineers Prerequisites Polycom Certified Videoconferencing Engineer (PCVE) Certification or RealPresence Platform: Implementation, Configuration & Troubleshooting (Level 2) RPIIT202 Duration 3 days of classroom training Delivery Methodology The course will be delivered as instructor-led training in the classroom with a significant proportion of time spent on discussion activities and hands-on practical exercises. 2 Outline The three modules comprising the instructor-led training will see the development of an enterprise-scale solution from the design phase through implementation. Module 1: Enterprise Design and Deployment Module 2: Resiliency, Mobility & Interoperability Module 3: Architecture & Troubleshooting Lab Environment Each pair of students will utilize the following lab equipment: RealPresence Desktop endpoints 1 x Collaboration Server (RMX) (exercises requiring multiple RMXs will incorporate use of a shared classroom RMX) 2 x Polycom Distributed Media Application (DMA) servers 2 x Polycom RealPresence Resource Manager 1 x shared Microsoft Active Directory environment 1 x virtualized PABX and softphones Issue V3.2 Page 2 of 5

3 Module 1: Enterprise Design and Deployment This module introduces Medeatalk, an imaginary enterprise-scale customer with a requirement for a video collaboration solution. Medeatalk, who are based in the US, will be used to show how the elements of the solution can be combined to meet customer requirements. 4 Module 2: Resiliency, Mobility & Interoperability In this module Medeatalk acquire another company, Voce di Mezzi based in Italy. The design discussions move to multi-site resiliency and integration of an existing VoIP environment with Medeatalk s video solution. Other topics discussed in this module include management of mobile video devices and support for multi-tenancy. Practical exercises allow students to build the solutions designed for the customer.
