1 ARTICULATION AGREEMENT IN HEALTH EXERCISE SCIENCE BETWEEN JAMESTOWN COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY PURPOSE OF AGREEMENT This document establishes a transfer articulation agreement between Jamestown Community College and Syracuse University. Its purpose is to afford students the opportunity to pre-plan their college careers, and to facilitate the transfer process from the Associate in Science (A.S.) in Liberal Arts and Sciences: Mathematics and Science degree program and the A.S. Physical Education and Health Studies degree program at Jamestown Community College to the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Health and Exercise Science degree program at Syracuse University. GENERAL GUARANTEE OF ADMISSION STING Students who are in their second year of the A.S. Liberal Arts and Sciences: Mathematics and Science or the A.S. Physical Education and Health Studies degree program at Jamestown Community College, and who have and maintain a minimum Jamestown Community College grade point average of 2.8, are guaranteed acceptance into the B.S. Health and Exercise Science degree program at Syracuse University provided that space is available when applications are received. Students who transfer 60 or more credit hours to Syracuse University are guaranteed full junior standing. GENERAL GUARANTEE OF OPPORTUNITY TO GRADUATE Students who graduate from Jamestown Community College having earned a minimum grade of C for at least 60 credit hours from among the courses listed in Appendix A or Appendix B of this agreement are guaranteed the opportunity to earn the B.S. Health and Exercise Sciences degree with four semesters of normal coursework at Syracuse University. Students who plan to pursue an advanced degree in physical therapy should choose their Jamestown Community College courses from Appendix A. Students who do not plan to pursue an advanced degree in physical therapy should choose their Jamestown Community College courses from Appendix B.

3 * In order for PHE 2010 and PHE 2050 to be used as equivalent courses for PPE 470, experience must be in a setting directly related to the student s intended area of preparation within the major of exercise science (pre-pt, pre-med, strength and conditioning, etc.). Syracuse University s Department of Exercise Science will evaluate the transfer of PHE 2010 and PHE 2050 on a case by case basis for individual applicants. ** Students should choose appropriate electives for the Syracuse University coaching minor, management minor, pre-med/pre-pt preparation, or nutrition minor.
