We know all the necessary elements of furniture and even though we specialise in foam, we can provide extensive consultation and cooperation with other competent partners within our respective networks. Whether it is a case of PVC, textiles, quilting, furniture construction, wood and metal fabrication, various bonding and sewing methods for mattress lines, general upholstery and amongst other materials and techniques, we are able to provide insightful and relevant input to all areas of the process. We have co-developed numerous items of design furniture and produced PUR foam in both moulded and cut foam for more than 1,000 different items of design furniture. We always see possibilities, whether it is a matter of producing design classics or developing new and innovative designs. We currently supply foam for numerous items of design furniture, including Arne Jacobsen s Swan and Egg chairs as well as Jamie Hayon s Favn sofa. The technique affords a unique and exceptionally strong construction with clean, sharp lines which both meets the furniture designer s creativity and the user s need for comfort. 4

5 PurFlex PurCore Frame The bearing element It is perhaps not an exaggeration to claim that we constitute the bearing element in the most creative designs. Because that is practically what we do. BPI is one of the first foam manufacturers in Europe to utilise the new Low Emission raw materials in its production of flexible MDI-based foam, while also developing PurFusion - a visionary fusion product and combination of two of our other brands PurCore and PurFlex. This combination affords a quite unique strength even in the smallest details, while still maintaining an exceptional comfort. Although the concept is primarily used as a bearing structure in furniture and as upholstery material, it has unlimited applications. Moreover, Low Emission raw materials afford improved end product quality and much more environmentally friendly materials. 6 THE RIGHT MOULD... MAKES EVERYTHING POSSIBLE In the 1960 s, the Danish designer Verner Panton set himself the goal of creating a chair moulded in one single piece. This goal was achieved in 1967, when the Verner Panton Chair, the world s first moulded chair, was launched. BPI has been involved in the industry almost as long. Our many years of experience in the production of moulded design furniture has made us specialists in complex items, such as complete chairs with embedded chassis. 6

7 Freedom to create a unique design Moulding in polyurethane provides the furniture industry with the necessary freedom to form endless shapes and the opportunities to create an efficient production. The furniture designer has endless possibilities, therefore shape and thickness of the desired furniture items rarely pose a limitation. BPI Furniture & Design offers moulding of furniture shells in both hard and soft polyurethane, including rigid MDI moulded with soft MDI cellular plastic. The technique is a unique solution with clean, sharp lines that meets the designer s needs. Our modern furniture production makes it possibe to e.g. embed the steel chassis with Nozag springs and wood/plywood, after which the shells are ready for upholstering. BPI also produces moulded head/neck pillows in CozyPur. The pillows are specially developed in a quality with pressure relieving properties by which temperature sensitivity is avoided. PurFlex, PurCore and PurFusion are three completely unique options of moulded foams included in BPI s range of own brands. 7

8 OUT OF THE TUBE... WITH SPEED AND PRECISION Our high degree of competence and modern furniture production give you a wealth of possibilities. We offer among others embedding of steel chassis and wood for upholstery, however, that is far from everything. Why limit yourself? - We don t. 8

9 Share the responsibility - and let us take care of the logistics and coordination. Once the chassis with e.g. springs, wooden mouldings, tilt fittings etc. has been produced at our factory in Poland, it is forwarded to the moulding department. The tubular chassis should often be supplied with very narrow tolerances to fit the moulds. The work is quality assured before the products leave the factory. In this way, our processes run optimally, and you are assured an excellent, durable product with the right finish. Our specialities include items with surfaces that require exceptionally good adhesion, such as leather, textiles, etc. This combination of chassis production and moulding is unique in the market. BPI is responsible for and manages the entire process. This assures you professional handling and production of furniture items and all done through one contact, thereby avoiding unnecessary intermediaries and delays. Our employees work professionally with a strong emphasis on quality and precision. 10 FOAM ON THE TOP... MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE At BPI Furniture & Design we produce items according to your exact wishes. We are able to do this because of our solid knowledge in the production and processing of block foam. A knowledge which we would also be happy to share with you. 10

11 Individual foam qualities Cut foam is used for a wide range of products, such as seat cushions, back cushions, mattresses and cover foam as well as many of our individual and specialised healthcare products. BPI produces, stocks and processes block foam in polyether, HR foam, CMHR foam, Pantera as well as our proprietary visco-elastic foam TempraFlex (temperature sensitive polyurethane foam) and Setex (granulated foam). In addition to our own production of foam blocks at our factories in Denmark and Poland, we also purchase high quality foam from selected foam manufacturers in the global market. We stock more than 60 grades of block foam for comfort products. Such an extensive product range is unique in the market and affords you the best options to choose the most appropriate quality for your particular product. In all, BPI offers more than 300 different grades of foam and rubber from stock. 11

12 WE STICK... TO OUR PROMISES At BPI, we specialise in bonding unique and complex foam items in various combinations. When it comes to highlighting the very best aspects, the quality of the overall packing is not immaterial. Quality and elegance are key words we never overlook. 12

13 All forms of bonding BPI has many years of experience in bonding foam items, especially unique and complex items. Our bonding department offers bonding of all kinds of foam items, e.g. different types of foam bonded with wadding and covered with stockinet. This can also include wooden frames as moulded plywood bonded with foam, which are then ready for upholstering. Or moulded, hard polyurethane shells which are prepared for upholstery by bonding them with soft foam. We engage in ongoing dialogue with our adhesives suppliers with the view to ensure that the adhesives we use are both soft and flexible, while still providing optimal bonding. 13

14 COHESION AND YET PAYING ATTENTION TO THE OUTER LOOK We can handle any special sewing assignments, irrespective of whether you require traditional or innovation solutions. Availing of our understanding into how your furniture should take shape is closely connected with our involvement in the finishing process and the final finish. 14

15 Professionals from our own sewing department All sewing is carried out by professionals at our production facility in Poland. We are specialists in sewing, providing sewing solutions in materials such as textiles and PVC for mattress covers, bean bags, pillows, curtains, cushions and many others. Apart from sewing, we also specialise in various methods for welding PVC and PU. Our professional competencies coupled with our comprehensive range of machinery enable us to optimally solve tasks to suit individual wishes and requirements. BPI also has at its disposal machinery for quilting textiles, which are mainly used for producing mattress covers, bean bags, etc. 15

17 Development and prototypes We have specialists and equipment to provide consultancy early in the development phase. Moreover, we can develop prototypes quickly, thereby adding value to the initial briefing and final specification long before the production begins. A partnership may entail the outsourcing of an entire process or a product to us, or simply the supply of a smaller part. All with the point of view to minimise the overall cost of producing a given product. Know-how and consultancy Our employees possess an extensive know-how of furniture production and can be rightfully described as specialists in developing insightful customised solutions for the furniture industry. A natural part of the work comprises the development of close dialogue with you as the customer, furniture architects, designers or constructors. Construction and 3D It pays to have an experienced product developer to manage the process when commencing a new development assignment, and our own design educated constructors can take part in the development process as well. As an example, the constructors can render new designs visible in 3D. In that way, you immediately receive a realistic visualisation of the finished product. Total supplier and development At BPI, we have more than 40 years experience, our own foam production and a close cooperation with selected sub-suppliers. We are able to act as a total supplier for you, and we have extensive experience in overall project management. This means several benefits for you, including reduced internal workload, better economy and less complexity, or in other words, an efficient, changeover-friendly production flow, characterised by a just-in-time philosophy throughout the entire process. We have extensive experience in project management, and collaborate very closely with our customers when further developing existing products or completely new ones and preparing them for production. We develop products both as individual components for a piece of design furniture and as complete items of furniture in close cooperation all the way from concept to finished product. 17

Therefore, a high standard for security of supply is a matter of course for us. A criterion that we continuously measure and document. Our Supply Chain Management system ensures control over all stages from order to delivery. Integrated logistics Logistics is not exclusively a question of shipping and receiving goods. It is about ensuring an optimal flow of goods and constantly exchanging information across the entire value chain. The flow of goods is ensured through our efficient logistics system which affords a complete overview and control over the flow of products from purchasing and inventory management to the ordering process. 21

Combined with our precise, well-organised production planning, you get the perfect conditions for achieving an optimal overall solution, from the initial concept and sketch to your finished product. 22

23 High standards and consistent quality The combination of modern production facilities and an extensive knowhow enables us to produce complex and customised items in a high and uniform quality. We supply products in block, plates, profile foam, rolls, as well as fixed dimensioned items to customer specification. Additionally, we can offer lamination of assembly adhesives, foils, textiles, as well as numerous other materials and surfaces. We have substantial cutting capacity within the processing of foam which also includes processing on automated CNC machinery such as water jet cutters, roll and contour cutters, die-cutting and rotary die-cutting machines, splitting machines, milling machines, laminating machines, etc. We have one of the world s largest injection machines for plastic foam and perhaps the largest production facility for manufacturing and processing foam. The technology in our production affords a broad array of processing methods, which includes everything within rigid, viscoelastic or hydrophilic foam as well as: Thermoforming Lamination Die-cutting Water jet cutting Horizontal/Vertical cutting Injection moulding Peeling Steel chassis ISO 9001 BPI has introduced a management system to ensure the most direct route to the necessary quality and we meet the standards of ISO A system that is constantly evolving and improving, ultimately for your benefit. 23

24 ENVIRONMENT WE CANNOT SAVE THE WORLD - BUT WE CAN HAVE A HEALTHY ATTITUDE We take great pride in developing environmentally friendly materials, utilising resources optimally and recycling what we can. A considerate part of the strategy centres around our constant aspirations to limit the amount of unhealthy and environmentally harmful substances. We always prioritise the most environmentally friendly products in our processes. 24

25 A green company with environmentally-friendly technology At BPI, we focus on constantly improving the quality level and reducing negative impacts on the environment. We have always used MDI for manufacturing foam (both rigid and flexible) in our own production, thus opting out of using the more environmentally harmful alternative TDI. We have gone one step further by becoming one of the first manufacturers in Europe to utilise the new Low Emission raw materials in its production of flexible MDI-based foam.
