2 Integration levels Schroff capabilities range from Level 0 (the supply of individual piece parts) to Level 5 (fullsystem integration, providing enclosures with backplanes, power supplies, thermal management assemblies and active boards completely assembled, wired, tested and drop shipped to end user customers). Schroff s standard range of parts complies fully with international standards which ensures total interchangeability. Assembly by Schroff of individual piece parts into an enclosure system. This process is aided by product specific configurators, to be found on the web page. Mechanical assembly of the enclosure incorporating customised design, manufacture and installation of components with minimal wiring and testing. This includes the provision of power, battery boxes and connector blocks, plus the installation of fans, cable harnesses and passive components. 2

3 Level 3 Electronic enclosure assembly Installation within an enclosure of power supplies, complex cable assemblies, backplanes, thermal controls and switches. All the components are completely wired, tested and packed for transportation. Level 4 Total integration with active cards and software Installation of customer-supplied/defined cards, hardware, software and other components for diagnostic and full, final functional testing, plus specific transportation packaging for the safe delivery of the system. Level 5 Complete integrated solution including logistics Fully operational systems, designed and configured-to-order, integrated with all active and passive components. National and international hubbing, distribution and logistics support is provided. The finished products are shipped directly to the OEM customer or to the end user, thus providing a complete solution. 3

Concepts Electronic Packaging for integrated systems requires a large spectrum of technical competences, including thermal arrangements, EMC (electromagnetic compatibility), environmental conditions (shock, vibration, ingress of dust, water protection), climatic conditions (corrosion protection) and familiarisation with standards. Design To evaluate an initial design, a 3D model can be created, which will show the relationships of components, wire routings and mechanical interface dimensions. The model can also be used for thermal simulation and the design of an efficient cooling technique.
