3 SINGAPORE QP- THE PATHWAY TO BECOME CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS OF SINGAPORE Launched in June 2013, the Singapore QP is a postgraduate qualification pathway towards the Chartered Accountant of Singapore professional designation. The Singapore QP comprises three main components: Financial Reporting Integrative Business Solutions Assurance Business Value, Governance and Risk Taxation Minimum 3 years experience within a Training Agreement in an Accredited Training Organisation supervised by an Approved Mentor EMBARKING ON THE SINGAPORE QP JOURNEY Assess your eligibility Individuals with Accredited Degrees can enter directly into the Professional Programme while individuals without an Accredited Degree will be required to complete the Foundation Programme before embarking on the Professional Programme. The Singapore QP admits graduates of all disciplines. Seek employment with an Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) ATOs are organisations that are accredited by the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC) to provide the Practical Experience component of the Singapore QP. ATOs can be listed companies, public accounting entities, banks, government ministries & statutory boards, charities, universities etc. Academic Base Professional Programme Practical Experience Ethics and Professionalism Accredited Degree in Accountancy Foundation Programme + Non-Accredited Degree Over 200 organisations and firms have been accredited as ATOs. 5 ACCREDITED TRAINING ORGANISATION Accredited Training Organisations (ATOs) play an integral role in the Singapore QP. They provide training and development opportunities for Singapore QP Candidates to hone their competences and gain valuable practical experience in a professional environment. In order to hire, train and develop Singapore QP Candidates, organisations must first be accredited by the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC). There are over 200 accredited training organisations of various sizes and from different industries. Visit for the full list of ATOs and their available positions. PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Singapore QP Candidates are required to complete a minimum of 3 years (450 days) of Practical Experience and a minimum of 5 days (40 hours) of pro bono work. The Practical Experience must be of a financial or business nature and conducted under the guidance of an Approved Mentor. In addition, Candidates will need to demonstrate that they are competent in 9 elements of generic competences and in 4 of the 15 elements of technical competences. Both your time and achievement of the competences will be recorded in your Record of Practical Experience (RPEC). Interesting tidbits about the Singapore QP: The Chartered Accountant of Singapore professional designation came into effect on 2 July The Singapore Accountancy Commission oversees the Singapore QP. The Singapore QP admits graduates of all disciplines. Singapore QP is the only professional accountancy programme in the world with a pro bono component. KPMG is the first Accredited Training Organisation. Deloitte Singapore holds the honour of signing the first batch of Singapore QP Candidates in May Keppel Corporation is the first corporate to sign Singapore QP training agreements with their employees. Ministry of Home Affairs is the first government ministry to be accredited as an ATO. Singapore Airlines is the first airline to be accredited as an ATO DBS is the first local bank to be accredited as an ATO. SingTel is the first local Telco to be accredited as an ATO. There is a module interchangeability agreement between the SAC and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). The Financial Reporting and Assurance modules of the Singapore QP are recognised as equivalent to the Financial Accounting and Reporting and Audit and Assuance modules of the ICAEW s ACA programme.
