2 ROVINJ Venue city On the magnificent coast of Istria, right below the Lim Fjord, you can find the most romantic place in the Mediterranean! On the seaside, the town is protected by a high rocky shore and house walls built on cliffs, while the mainland side is protected by solid walls. The town is dominated by the baroque St. Euphemia s Church, its 60-meter tower providing a view of grey and red rooftops and chimneys, streets and squares, the port and pier with ships and boats, and the marina harbouring yachts. 3 PULA 35 km from Rovinj Arena the only remaining Roman amphitheatre to have four side towers and all three Roman architectural orders entirely preserved. 4 BRIJUNI 30 km from Rovinj Brijuni National Park is an oasis of the magnificent harmony between man, animal and plant life. There are almost 700 plant species and about 250 bird species on the islands, whereas the mild Mediterranean climate makes it a pleasant health resort. The archipelago counting 14 islands and islets creates a unique surrounding and is ideal for relaxation and spending unforgettable moments. The usual, short introduction to Brijuni is a tour by tourist train that takes you through the different natural beauties; safari park, Byzantine castrum, Roman residential villa in Verige Bay, church of St. German from the 15th century etc. In 1945 after World War II the Brijuni became part of Yugoslavia and President Marshal Josip Broz Tito made the Brijuni his personal State Summer Residence. Almost 100 foreign heads of state visited Tito on his islands, along with film stars including Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Sophia Loren, Angelina Jolie... 6 PLITVICE LAKES 240 km from Rovinj Croatia's first National park established in 1949 covers km2 of breathtaking natural splendour becoming with it the largest among the eight national parks of the country. The park is inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List and it's known as the pearl of the continental Croatia. It harbours a grand collection of waterfalls, gallery of lakes, forest and diversity of animal life. Plitvice lakes are recognized as an astonishing natural monument and that's why today, 60 years after its establishment, are continuing to be one of Croatia's biggest attractions. 7 VENICE 100 km from Rovinj (by boat), 260 km by car Venice, the famous Republic of St. Mark and once the most powerful country in the Mediterranean, nowadays is known as one of the most authentic places in the world. In 1797, the city was conquered by Napoleon, a blow from which it never recovered. The city was soon merged into Austria-Hungary, then ping-ponged back and forth between Austria and a nascent Italy. The most significant sights are: St. Mark's basilica with a bell tower, St. Mark's Square, the Bridge of Sighs, the Rialto Bridge and numerous canals which give the city a special charm.
