4 1 HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions B Release Notes Announcements The HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions includes the HP Serviceguard Toolkit for Oracle Data Guard (ODG Toolkit) and the HP Serviceguard Toolkit for DB2 High Availability Disaster Recovery (DB2 HADR Toolkit). NOTE: The product name used for the depot is Serviceguard Disaster Recovery Toolkits for Databases. However, the product name was changed to HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions to match the functionality delivered. The ODG toolkit was bundled as a separate product, and was known as the HP Serviceguard Toolkit for Oracle Data Guard. From September 2011 onwards for HP-UX 11i v3, ODG toolkit is bundled in HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions along with DB2 HADR toolkit. Beginning with the HP-UX 11i v2 July 2011 Web Release, the ODG Toolkit is bundled in the software product called HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions. The current information on patches and known problems, is also available on the Hewlett-Packard Support center HP Serviceguard Toolkit For Oracle Data Guard (T2259AA): As of the March 2011 release, this product has been removed from all the HP-UX Operating Environments (OEs). The HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions requires Enterprise Cluster Master Toolkit (T1909BA), which is purchased separately. The HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions is available in the following ways: For HP-UX 11i v2: Web Release, July 2011 For HP-UX 11i v3: Application Release (AR), September 2011 or later What s New in this Version The HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions offers: HP Serviceguard Toolkit for Oracle Data Guard HP Serviceguard Toolkit for DB2 HADR What s New in PHSS_42521 This patch is only for HP-UX 11i v3. In this patch, the HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions includes the following features: Support for multiple database in an instance Support for role takeover with peer window only option. 5 Compatibility Information and Installation Requirements Compatibility The compatible versions of Enterprise Cluster Master (ECMT), Serviceguard (SG), HP-UX OS versions for this toolkit are: Toolkit ECMT Version Serviceguard Version HP-UX OS Version ODG toolkit B A HP-UX 11i v2 and HP-UX 11i v3 ODG toolkit B A HP-UX 11i v3 DB2 HADR toolkit B A HP-UX 11i v3 Installation To install HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions: 1. Run the command: # swinstall -s <depot path> The SD Install - Software Selection user interface appears where you can select the product that you want to install. 2. On the SD Install - Software Selection screen, mark the product, T2259AA. 3. To mark the product for installation: a. Select Action > Mark For Installation(m). b. To install only a specific toolkit in T2259AA, see the options by pressing enter and then select as appropriate. 4. Select Action > Install to initiate the installation. To verify the installation completion, run the command: # swlist -l product T2259AA This command returns the list of toolkits that you selected during installation. Directories Created for ODG Toolkit after Installation After the HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions is installed, a directory, /opt/cmcluster/toolkit/ is created. This directory includes the toolkit scripts and the README file. In addition, other scripts are installed in the /etc/cmcluster/scripts/ tkit/ and /etc/cmcluster/modules/tkit/ directories. The script is used to start, stop, and monitor the ODG databases. The ODG toolkit user configuration file The script is used to start, stop, and monitor the RAC instances. This script is used in a Continentalcusters environment to start a standby RAC database as a primary RAC database. File that includes integration instructions. /opt/cmcluster/toolkit/ Table 2 lists the files that are available for the ADF module. In addition to the toolkit scripts, other scripts are installed in the /etc/cmcluster/scripts/tkit/ db2hadr and /etc/cmcluster/modules/tkit/db2hadr directories. 8 Patches and Fixes in this Version This section describes the required patches and the defects that have been fixed in version B of the HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions. Required and Recommended Patches Fixes At the time of publication, the following patch is required for version B of the HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions: PHSS_42521 for HP-UX 11i v3 For more information on defects fixed in HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions version B.02.00, patch PHSS_42521, see Fixes (page 8). However, this is subject to change without notice. For the most current information, contact your HP representative. An updated list of patches is available on the Hewlett-Packard Support Center: The following defects have been fixed in HP Serviceguard Toolkits for Database Replication Solutions version B.02.00, patch PHSS_ QXCR Problem: The DB2 HADR toolkit support package which contains a single database, does not allow packaging of multiple databases in an instance. The fix is available in the following patch: B PHSS_42521 on HP-UX 11i v3 QXCR Problem: The DB2 HADR toolkit runs START HADR and STOP HADR commands during package start and package halt, respectively. It does not perform ACTIVATE and DEACTIVATE commands when starting and stopping the HADR. The fix is available in the following patch: B PHSS_42521 on HP-UX 11i v3 QXCR Problem: The DB2 HADR Toolkit does not perform a role takeover with peer window only option, if the peer window is set. The fix is available in the following patch: B PHSS_42521 on HP-UX 11i v3 QXCR If the db2 getsnapshot command is used in the monitoring script of DB2 HADR toolkit, it might take a long time to provide the result.
