Tony, Presider 9:45am Mission Talk 7:30pm Mission Talk - Confession to follow Our presenter was born and raised right next door in Bellmore, a parishioner of St. Barnabas the Apostle. From an early age he desired to be a priest and was ordained for the Diocese of Rockville Centre on March 17, After having served at Our Lady of Lourdes in West Islip and St. Edward the Confessor in Syosset, he taught at the college seminary in Douglaston. During this period of his life, he was engaged in graduate studies at Fordham University and then Gregorian University in Rome where he received his licentiate degree in Sacred Theology. In 1990, Father Tony was assigned as an Associate Pastor, together with Father Charles, at St. Catherine of Sienna in Franklin Square. They served there together for a number of years before Father Tony was transferred to St. Philip Neri in Northport, and then Holy Spirit in New Hyde Park. For the past five years, Father Tony has been Pastor of Saints Philip and James in Saint James.. Father Tony is no stranger to Cure of Ars as he led us in a Parish Mission during Lent of2005. He has also conducted Days of Prayer for our Liturgical Ministers and for our Religious Ed catechists. He is so delighted at this time to offer this mission on the theme: "The Lord Who Heals Our Shame."

20 SPIRITUAL ADOPTION Progress Report ""m sitting up straight nowl" The baby's oil and sweat glands are functioning; these help regulate body temperature.. A white filmy layer covers the baby and protects its delicate skin from the surrounding amniotic fluid and from scratches as he/she twists and turns. This waxy substance will be quickly absorbed into its skin soon after he/ she is born. The baby can now respond to sound. His/her lungs are fairly well developed and would stand a good chance of survival if born at this time. There have been many interesting stories on how this Spiritual Adoption Prayer Program has influenced the prayer lives of our parishioners. For example, some include their daily prayer for the pre-born babies at dinner time when their family is gathered at the kitchen table. Others keep the prayer in their wallet and recite it during their daily train commute to Manhattan; others recite it during their evening walk. Some parishioners have taped the prayer to medicine chests, vanity mirrors, car dashboards or television remote controls -- all in an effort to remember to keep the babies in their daily prayers. Having over 400 people participating in this program reveals that many do believe in the value and sanctity of life which begins at conception. How refreshing this is! As this precious child is being formed by our loving God, let us continue to pray for the boy or girl we have adopted that his or her parents will choose life for their baby. Remember, the power of prayer is great!! Thank you for participating in this wonderful program for life. God thanks you, and your adopted child thanks you. For those parents who have not chosen life for their unborn child, there is 'post-abortion counseling available (known as Project Rachel).
