1 Wayne State University Law School Career Services Office Off Campus Career Fairs Each year, Wayne Law students participate in numerous career conferences and job fairs throughout the country. These job fairs offer interview and networking opportunities for students and recent graduates, and can assist you in obtaining summer clerkships, internships and permanent attorney positions. Some job fairs are designed to further particular goals of diversity within the legal profession. However, they cannot discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, or sexual orientation. DuPont Minority Job Fair DuPont Legal Minority Job Fair is a multi-city event, focused on giving minority law students from across the country a chance to interview with a DuPont primary law firms. Location: Wilmington, DE, Houston,TX, & Los Angeles, CA Date: August 7, 2010 Registration: Contact Bonnie Bell at for more information. Vault MCCA Legal Diversity Career Fair The 5th Annual Vault/MCCA Legal Diversity Career Fair will provide minority, female and GLBT candidates with the opportunity to meet and network with recruiters from law firms, government agencies, corporate law departments and non-profit organizations who are firmly committed to increasing diversity in the legal profession. Location: Washington, D.C. Date: July 30, 2010 Registration: Register prior to May 30, 2010 to be eligible for pre-scheduled 20 minute interviews with recruiters.
2 IMPACT Career Fair for Law Students & Attorneys with Disabilities Law students and lawyers with disabilities are invited to participate in the fifth annual IMPACT career fair. Employers prescreen and preselect candidates, and conduct formal interviews onsite. Location: Washington, D.C. Date: August 13, 2010 Registration: Deadline is July 11, cfm. National Black Prosecutors Association (NBPA) - 27 th Annual Conference The NBPA hosts its Annual Conference and Job Fair July in San Francisco, California. The Job Fair will take place on during the Conference. Location and registration dates will be announced at a later date. Location: San Francisco, CA Date: July 18-24, 2010 Registration: Ongoing Boston Lawyers Group Job Fair The Boston Lawyers Group hosts its Boston Job Fair and its Washington, DC Job Fair during the month of August. Students may attend only one fair. Both fairs are for second- and third-year students form diverse backgrounds. Participating students will have an opportunity to interview with large law firms and government organizations. Location: Boston, MA; Washington, D.C. Students will have networking opportunities with employers, as well as the opportunity for formal job interviews. 3 Minnesota Minority Recruitment Conference This conference aims to increase legal diversity in the Twin Cities area by joining small, medium and large firms, corporate law departments and public interest, nonprofit and government entities with top quality 2L and 3L candidates from around the country. Location: Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN Date: August 13, 2010 Registration: TBA Location, date, and registration information to be announced. Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair The HDLJF is the result of Kansas City's leading law firms, legal associations, and corporate legal departments coming together to encourage law students to practice law in Kansas City. The HDLJF is designed to expose law students of diverse backgrounds to both traditional and non-traditional legal employers. Registration date to be announced. Location: Kansas City, MO Date: August 6-7, 2010 Registration: March 22, 2010-June 21, You may also contact Emily Perry at Hispanic National Bar Association Annual Convention & Job Fair Hosted by the Hispanic National Bar Association, this is the largest Latino job fair in the country. Students can register for the entire convention, or select the job fair only. The job fair is open to first-, second- and third-year students. Private, government and public interest employers participate in this job fair. Location: Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN Date: September 8-11, 2010 Job Fair: September 8-11, 2010 Registration: TBA annual-convention/ Lavender Law Conference & Career Fair The Lavender Law Conference is designed to achieve a sense of community and inclusion for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) candidates within the legal profession. Career Fair participants will speak directly to LGBT-friendly recruiters from law firms, government agencies, LGBT advocacy groups, and legal departments. Last year, more than 500 candidates and over 150 recruiters representing private firms and public organizations from across the country attended the Career Fair.

The Rocky Mountain Diversity Legal Career Fair The Rocky Mountain Diversity Legal Career Fair provides a forum for legal employers, law students and 2009 law school graduates to meet and discuss employment options, with the goal of expanding opportunities and assisting the legal profession in fulfilling its commitment to diversity. Legal employers attending the Career Fair seek to hire law students and 2010 graduates from culturally diverse backgrounds that have been traditionally under-represented in the practice of law in the Rocky Mountain region. These include candidates who are ethnic or racial minorities and/or gay or lesbian. Interviews will be granted through a prescreening process, as well as by invitation during the event at the employers' option. Location: Denver, CO Date: September 17, 2010 Registration: TBA Location, date, and registration information to be announced. Indianapolis Bar Association (IBA) Diversity Job Fair Second-year law students (graduating in 2012) are invested to participated in the first annual IBA Diversity Job Fair. The Indiana Bar Association seeks candidates who represent all aspects of diversity, who are looking for a one-of-a-kind legal community in a Midwestern city that has both cosmopolitan style and small-town charm. Location: Indianapolis, IN Date: August 19-20, 2010 Registration: Deadline is July 16, Equal Justice Works Annual Career Fair and Conference The annual Equal Justice Works Career Fair & Conference is the nation s largest public interest law career fair and conference, hosting more than 150 employers and 1,000 students and graduates from across the country. Equal Justice Works hosts this conference and career fair to broaden, support, and recognize the efforts and participation of public interest-minded law students, lawyers, and advocates. All persons registered for the Career Fair may participate in one-onone employer interviews, table talk group interviews, and educational sessions on how to advance a public interest career. Students who would like one-on-one
5 interviews must submit resumes and cover letters to attending employers in September. Please register through the Career Services Office. Location: Bethesda, MD Date: October 22-23, 2010 Registration: TBA Wolverine Bar Association Summer Clerkship Program The Wolverine Bar Association annually sponsors a Minority Clerkship Program which places a limited number of first-year minority students in summer associate positions at metro-detroit law firms. The deadline to apply is typically in January. Grand Rapids and Floyd Skinner Summer Clerkship Program The Grand Rapids Bar Association and the Floyd Skinner Bar Association annually sponsor a Minority Clerkship Program designed to increase the number of minority attorneys in the Grand Rapids legal community. Through the clerkship program, first-year minority students are considered for full-time summer clerkship positions with several participating Grand Rapids legal employers. Students are selected on the basis of academic performance and an interest in working in the Grand Rapids area. Other factors include work history, extracurricular activities, and oral and written communication skills. Approximately 5-6 clerkships are offered each year. The deadline to apply is typically is February Midwest Public Interest Law Career Conference This conference is open to first, second and third year J.D. students enrolled at Midwestern law schools. Public interest and government employers from throughout the country interview students and participate in the informational table talk session. Registration is free to Wayne Law students. However, students will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Location: Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago Date: February 6, Registration: The deadline to register is December 9, Loyola Patent Law Interview Program The Patent Law Interview Program is a nationwide job fair that targets second and third year J.D. and LL.M. students with engineering and/or technical science academic backgrounds. Location: Embassy Suites-Chicago, Downtown/Lakefront Date: July 29-30, 2010 Registration: Deadline is March 8, 2010
