3 District Freight Coordinators Vision - Freight Coordinator activities will establish FDOT as a principal freight, trade and logistics partner contributing to the growth of Florida s economy as a global, export-oriented hub by early 2016 Seven Positions throughout FDOT District Offices to coordinate matters of multimodal and freight activity Collaborate on statewide multimodal freight mobility programs including highway, seaports, air and spaceports and rail Assist in facilitating public-private, state-local and statefederal freight transportation investment decisions FDOT s freight, trade and logistics professionals that have a standard set of knowledge, skills & abilities Integrate freight, trade and logistics practice into FDOT s day-to-day business process Legislative Budget & Finance Outreach Freight Coordinator Training Analysis & Data Identify, prioritize and champion freight, trade and logistics initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders and partners in the District Programs & Planning

4 Linking the Policy and Investment Elements Developed with participation of public and private sector from across the state - Industry sector involvement from manufacturing, logistics, transportation, warehousing, sales, distribution, and more Policy Element provides strategic direction to assist in determining investment priorities Investment Element focus is to help make decisions on where to spend limited resources to facilitate movement of freight Policy Element Strategies Investment Element Planning Process and Criteria Weighting Public Feedback and Prioritized Needs Adopted Sep 2014 Annual Update of Project List

5 District 1 Freight Initiatives District Wide Freight Mobility Study Regional focus and summary of existing freight assets and infrastructure; identify Hot Spots and potential freight projects for FMTP Investment Element District 1 Freight Implementation Plan District 1 plan to meet state and national freight goals; describe policies, strategies and performance measures to guide investment decisions - action items US 27 Freight Corridor Working w/fta and Central Office to discuss significance of US 27 as primary freight trucking corridor in the State raise priority for future studies America s Gateway ILC Met w/county Manager to discuss the concept and way forward; follow up with FDOT SWAO Director and Liaisons to determine future steps and Action Items on key issues for FDOT
