2 TMESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR It seems like years ago that we were getting ready to launch HOPE House into the community. In reality, it is just under 2 years since we opened our doors. Our purpose HOPE House provides tangible, compassionate assistance and care to those in need in our community through immediate relief and ongoing support with the goal for our clients to achieve a greater level of independence. So many wonderful programs and projects have been launched and have grown since the fall of 2012 that it is hard to know how to describe them to everyone. This catalogue will share with you the many wonderful things that are happening at HOPE House. One of the beautiful things that has developed over the past few months while caring for the community of need is our networking with others, engaging the local community and those doing like minded work. Together we are stronger in helping those in need. We do not do our work alone, but rely on so many to join with us, helping us help others. There are so many ways you can share this journey with us. As you peruse this catalogue, I hope you feel inspired and motivated to participate with us through this exciting opportunity. 3 FOOD MARKET At HOPE House we believe in both the power of food and the power of choice. Rather than the traditional food bank model, the Food Market at HOPE House allows clients the dignity of choosing their food items through our innovative point system. Much like going to the grocery store with a budget, clients walk through the aisles selecting the food including fresh produce and meat which appeals to individuals or family needs, while also learning how to budget and prioritize food needs through mentorship. $20 (one-time or monthly) - You can provide cleaning supplies and hygiene items for a family for a month. (ITEM # FM-1) $50 (one-time or monthly) - You can provide the groceries for an individual living in poverty for a month. (ITEM # FM-2) $100 (one-time or monthly) - You can provide the groceries for a family living in poverty for a month. (ITEM # FM-3)

4 EDU-KITCHEN Cooking alongside HOPE House volunteers, Edu-Kitchen provides our clients with the practical and physical tools needed to make healthy meals for their family. We use experiential learning to teach cooking skills and provide our clients with a great new recipe for their arsenal every month. This approach allows our clients to eat more nutritiously, take greater control over their personal circumstances, build confidence and creates a community environment. $15 (one-time or monthly) - You can supply the ingredients for our Recipe of the Month for one family each month. (ITEM # EK- 1) $40 (one-time or monthly) - You can supply our Recipe of the Month sampling in the cafe each week for one month if they sample it they will come! (ITEM # EK-2) $200 (one-time or monthly) - You can supply all of the food and materials needed to operate our Edu-Kitchen for a full month and provide this experiential learning to those in need. (ITEM # EK-3)

5 HOPE STYLIN Encompassing both a clothing bureau and hair salon operated entirely by volunteer salon professionals Hope Stylin is able to offer our clients a pride in their appearance that may have previously been unavailable. Knowing the confidence that comes when people feel comfortable and confident in their appearance, this program allows our clients to empower themselves and feel great about how they look! $10 (one-time or monthly) - You can provide haircuts for 5 people each month. (ITEM # HS-1) $30 (one-time or monthly) - You can stock our HOPE Stylin Salon with all the tools necessary to provide quality haircuts. (ITEM # HS-2)

6 HOPE IN MOTION Help make HOPE mobile throughout the city! We bring large quantities of food items and produce into HOPE House for our clients. We also help deliver HOPE to other service providers by sharing any overflow we have. It s all about partnering with others so that HOPE can be multiplied throughout the city. Let s keep our HOPEmobiles on the road, helping the fight against poverty and food insecurity. $25 (one-time or monthly) - You can supply 5 deliveries to other agencies in need throughout the Guelph community. (ITEM# HM-1) $150 (one-time or monthly) - You can keep a HOPE-mobile on the road for one month, spreading HOPE throughout the city. (ITEM# HM-2)

7 CAFÉ Our daily café is a warm, welcoming place that allows our clients to share in community while helping to meet their immediate food needs. Each day, we offer a light selection of food to provide nutrition and warmth for those in need of HOPE House services. Hot coffee, tea and water are always available in the café for anyone who would like to drop in come in and see us anytime! $50 (one-time or monthly) - You can help us provide coffee for our clients, helping them feel welcome at HOPE House, for a month. (ITEM# C-1) $100 (one-time or monthly) - You can sponsor one of our famous Wednesday Morning Breakfasts where our made-to-order meals offer clients a nutritious restaurant experience with dignity and choice. 8 ANNUAL PROGRAMS BACK-TO-SCHOOL BACKPACKS Give kids the confidence to go back to school ready to learn! Each year HOPE House offers back-to-school backpacks to children in need throughout our community. These brand new backpacks are filled with the supplies needed for students to be successful at school. With each backpack we prepare students with the greatest tool we can give them education! $100 (one-time) - You can supply a fully stocked backpack to a child in need in our community, helping them to achieve academic success. 9 CHRISTMAS HAMPERS Give the gift of Christmas to an individual or family in need! Each year at the holiday season HOPE House provides Christmas hampers to our clients and the greater Guelph community. Included in these hampers are all the makings of a traditional holiday meal, presents for the families children, and Christmas cards from our volunteers and staff. $20 (one-time) - You can provide a toy for a child to open on Christmas morning. (ITEM# CH-1) $25 (one-time) - You can supply a gift card for a teenager to purchase a Christmas wish item. (ITEM# CH-2) FRIENDS OF HOPE HOUSE Help make HOPE possible throughout the year with a gift that can be used where it s needed most! For the price of what you might spend on coffee in a month ($20), a dinner out with your family ($50) or one trip to the grocery store ($100) you can make a difference. Become a friend of HOPE House and keep the services and programs up and running. This will impact thousands of lives in this community. You can give HOPE with a one-time gift or with a monthly gift where needed most! $100 (one-time) - You can give the gift of Christmas to an individual or family in need in our community. This clinic will provide cleaning and basic dentistry services for the community. Yes!
