3 1 INTRODUCTION This document describes how to install VIDA on Web. It also describes the components being installed with the VIDA on Web installation. NOTE To be able to run VIDA on Web you need a subscription and a user ID. To order a subscription go to Volvo Cars Technical Information Shop (TIS) User ID and password will be sent to you after you have ordered a subscription. Copyright Volvo Car Corporation 44EN06 3

4 2 INSTALLATION There are two ways of installing the components that are necessary for using VIDA on Web: Using the VIDA DVD. Downloading an installation file from one of the websites: Dealer Development Platform (applies to dealers) Workshop Support Guide (applies to independent workshops) NOTE Administrator rights are required to install VIDA on Web. If there are any complications during the installation process, please contact your local IT support. 2.1 Installation from the VIDA DVD 1. Log in with administrator rights on the computer. Exit all other programs. 2. Insert the VIDA installation DVD. à The installation's main dialogue box is displayed. If the dialogue box does not appear run the file setup.exe in the installation disc's directory Install à DVD à Vida_dvdheader à Main. 3. Select the installation type "VIDA on Web". à Setup now needs to perform a system check. 4. Click Next to perform the system check. à The system check is performed. If all the requirements are met a dialogue box will be displayed, allowing the user to select an installation folder. 5. State C:\VIDA\ as the installation folder and click Next. à The installations starts and a dialogue box prompts for the connection method to the VCC network: VCC Intranet or Internet. 6. Select appropriate connection type, and click Save. à The Configuration result window will be displayed. The result should have the status Success for "Save Shortcuts" and "Save proxy Settings". Other tests will show Failure which is OK, since they are used only for VIDA Allin-one. 7. Click OK in the Configuration result window. à VIDA Configurator is displayed. 8. Click Close. à InstallShield Wizard Complete will be displayed. 9. Click Finish. à The installation ends and VIDA on Web has been installed. Copyright Volvo Car Corporation 44EN06 4

5 2.2 Installation from the website Workshop Support Guide or Dealer Development Platform Download the VIDA on Web installation application from: Dealer Development Platform (applies to dealers) The file is located under the Customer Service à Workshop system support à Installation tab. Workshop Support Guide (applies to independent workshops) The application is located under the Installation à VIDA on Web tab. 1. Log in with administrator rights on the computer. Exit all other programs. 2. Extract the installation application from the archive to a suitable folder on your hard disk drive or network. à The application is extracted and placed in the selected folder. 3. Double-click the executable setup file to start the installation. à IsoView and the VIDA icons are installed on the computer. 4. Restart the computer. à VIDA on Web is now installed. 5. Start VIDA Admin to activate the subscription and add users. Refer to the user manual for VIDA Admin. Copyright Volvo Car Corporation 44EN06 5

6 3 VERIFYING THE INSTALLATION Please follow the steps below to verify the installation. 1. Make sure that there are three VIDA icons on the desktop. à The icons are: VIDA on Web VIDA Configuration VIDA Admin 2. Check that the VIDA program group has been set up under Start à All Programs in Windows. à The program group shall include the programs mentioned above. 3. Check the software listed under Start à Control panel à Programs and Features in Windows. à The IsoView plug-in shall be included in the list. Copyright Volvo Car Corporation 44EN06 6

7 4 CONFIGURING VIDA ON WEB VIDA Configuration is a program used to perform certain settings in VIDA. This program is accessed during the installation process, but can be accessed at any time if any changes in settings are needed. Fig. 1 VIDA Configuration icon VIDA Configuration is described in the document VIDA Configuration. This is only an example on network settings. 1. Start VIDA Configuration by clicking the VIDA Configuration icon on the desktop or select VIDA Configuration from the start menu, Start à All Programs à VIDA à VIDA Configuration. à A dialogue box prompts for the connection method to the VCC network: VCC Intranet or Internet. 2. State the connection method to the VCC network: VCC Intranet or Internet. 3. Click Save. à The Configuration result window will be displayed. The result should have the status Success for "Save Shortcuts" and "Save proxy Settings". Other tests will show Failure which is OK since they are used only for VIDA Allin-one. 4. 8 5 STARTING TO USE VIDA ON WEB There are different resources available for VIDA users to become more proficient in using VIDA. These are described in short below. If you do not have access to these resources, please contact your local sales company. This chapter also describes the different VIDA desktop icons. 5.1 VIDA Help In the upper left corner of VIDA there is a link to VIDA Help. VIDA Help for VIDA on Web provides an overview of the VIDA on Web application. It also covers instructions on how to carry out different tasks in VIDA. VIDA Help is divided into two parts, a general part and a part that handles different cases. These cases describe recommended work flows, step by step. However, not all possibilities and alternatives in VIDA on Web are described. VIDA Help for VIDA on Web does neither contain a complete description of all fields and functions in all windows. 5.2 VIDA basic training VIDA basic training is a web based training. In this training you will learn and practice the functions in VIDA. The purpose is to make you familiarised with VIDA and to be able to use its functions in a real situation. VIDA basic training consists of several separate courses. After each course you are able to test your skills in final tests. The courses will take about 2 hours to complete. VIDA basic training is located on the Volvo Cars Competence Portal (VCCP): In Volvo Cars Technical Information Shop (TIS) you can purchase access to (VCCP): VIDA classroom training The local sales companies arrange classroom trainings. For detailed information contact your local sales company. 5.4 VIDA desktop icons Desktop shortcut for VIDA on Web VIDA on Web can be started by double clicking the VIDA on Web icon on the desktop or by selecting VIDA on Web from the start menu in Windows: Start à All Programs à VIDA à VIDA on Web Fig. 2 VIDA on Web icon When VIDA on Web is started, the user must first provide their user name and password to a security login. This security login is different depending on the connection to VIDA on Web, VCC Intranet or Internet. 10 6 REMOVING VIDA ON WEB Since VIDA on Web is a web based program, it cannot be removed as such. To remove third party programs, desktop shortcuts and the VIDA program group, please follow the procedure outlined in this chapter. 6.1 Removal procedure VIDA on Web can only be removed manually. Please follow the instructions below. 1. Access the Windows function Programs and Features by clicking Start à Control Panel à Programs and Features. Remove the IsoView plugin. 2. Delete the VIDA on Web shortcut from the desktop. 3. Delete the VIDA Configuration shortcut from the desktop. 4. Delete the VIDA Admin shortcut from the desktop. 5. Delete the VIDA program group by clicking Start à All Programs, right click the VIDA folder and select Delete. à VIDA on Web is now removed from the computer.
