4 Installation WMP600N Installation Run the Setup Wizard on the enclosed CD to install and set up the Adapter. A. Insert the Setup Wizard CD into your CD-ROM drive. NOTE: Windows or other personal firewalls may ask for permission to run the software or program. You will need to allow the software to run in order to continue. Insert the CD-ROM B. The Welcome screen appears. Select the appropriate language. C. Read the License Agreement. To accept the terms in the License Agreement, select I accept this agreement. 2 Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band

5 WMP600N Installation D. Please wait while the Setup Wizard installs the driver for the Adapter. NOTE: If you have already installed the Adapter in the computer, proceed to step Q. E. To view instructions on how to install the Adapter in the computer, keep the default, View the instructions, and click Next. Proceed to step F. (To print the instructions, click Print the instructions before you click Next.) To skip the physical installation instructions, select Skip the instructions, and click Next. Proceed to step N. F. The following screens of the Setup Wizard show the steps for installing the Adapter. 6 Installation WMP600N G. Shut down your computer, and unplug its power cable. H. Lay the computer on its side, and remove its cover. (Refer to your computer s documentation for more information.) I. Locate an available PCI slot. (Refer to your computer s documentation for more information.) J. Slide the Adapter into the PCI slot. You may have to apply pressure to slide the Adapter all the way in. Secure the Adapter s fastening tab to your computer s chassis with a mounting screw. 4 Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band

7 WMP600N Installation K. Attach the two antennas. L. Replace the cover on your computer, and stand the computer back up. Position the antennas so that they are pointed upwards. M. Plug the computer s power cable into its electrical outlet. Power on your computer. When your computer has restarted, the Setup Wizard will automatically continue. N. 8 Installation WMP600N O. Select Yes, I want to shut down my computer. Save and close any open files. Close all other programs or applications. If you want to print the installation instructions, click Click here if you have not printed these instructions yet but would like to do so. Click Next, and follow the instructions in steps G to M of the Quick Installation Guide. Then proceed to step P of the Quick Installation Guide. P. After your computer reboots, the Setup Wizard automatically resumes. Q. The Adapter is installed and detected by the Setup Wizard. 6 Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band

9 WMP600N Installation R. Please wait while the Setup Wizard installs the Linksys Wireless Manager utility. S. Please wait while the Setup Wizard searches for wireless networks. T. The available networks are listed in the table. Select your network, and then click Connect. Proceed to step W. (If your router supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup, proceed to the section, Wi-Fi Protected Setup.) If your network is not listed, select My network is not in this list. 10 Installation WMP600N U. Select Connect to hidden network. V. Enter the name of your wireless network. W. If your network uses wireless security, enter the security key of your wireless network. Click Next. If your network does not use wireless security, leave the security key field blank, and click Next. NOTE: If you are connecting to your own wireless network, you may want to configure wireless security on your router if you have not already done so. 8 Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band

11 WMP600N Installation X. Please wait while the Setup Wizard connects the Adapter to your wireless network. Warnings from your firewall or security application may appear. If necessary, click Always allow or Allow this time only to allow the wireless connection. Y. The Adapter is connected to your wireless network. Click Finish. Z. The settings of the Adapter are saved to your desktop as Linksys Adapter.txt (a text file). Click OK. The Linksys Wireless Manager icon appears on your desktop s system tray. Use this utility to change wireless settings or connect to a different wireless network. You can access the utility from the Start menu, or double-click the Manager icon in the system tray. Click OK. 12 Wi-Fi Protected Setup WMP600N Wi-Fi Protected Setup Use Wi-Fi Protected Setup to create a wireless connection between the Adapter and your router. A. On your router, press the button that looks like one of the icons in the picture. You may have to hold down this button until an LED flashes. Wi-Fi Protected Setup Button on Router Within two minutes, click Connect on the Quickly Connect Using Push Button screen. Then proceed to step C. If you do not want to use the push button method, click Skip on this screen, and proceed to step B. B. If your network uses wireless security, enter the security key of your wireless network. Click Next. If your network does not use wireless security, proceed to step C. C. Please wait while the Setup Wizard connects the Adapter to your wireless network. Warnings from your firewall or security application may appear. If necessary, click Always allow or Allow this time only to allow the wireless connection. 10 Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band
