1 Section 6 - Timetable Provide a timetable for commencing operations as a public charter school which shall provide for a minimum number of academic instruction days, which shall not be fewer than those required by statute. Describe the school s start-up timeline, from charter approval to the first day of operation. Summarize the school s daily and annual calendar, indicating the number of academic instruction days. The following table presents the tasks Knoxville Charter Academy will start implementing from approval (Assumed to be December 2010) to Fall This is the table prepared for preoperational period. 3 School Day Schedule The School will follow the academic calendar of Knox County Schools including emergency practices such as closing the schools due to weather conditions. Announcements of Knox County Schools will also apply to the students of Knoxville Charter Academy. A typical day at Knoxville Charter Academy is outlined at the following table. Times and duration of periods are descriptive only and can be changed by Knoxville Charter Academy administration whenever necessary. For different grade levels lunchtime will be different. The following tentative schedule is example for one grade only. The time tables provided in Section six are for students. Teachers have plenty of time for collaboration. Grade teams will have one common team planning time every day. Teaching staff teach 5 periods out of 7 periods of a school day. Remaining two periods can be utilized to build a master schedule with a common planning time per requirements. Page 94 of 270
